Guilty pleasure

We have a confession to make. We belong to a small group of cook county residents who have never voted for a Cook County judge. Ever. We've never even voted to retain a judge. We look forward with a kind of malicious glee to check the "NO" box on 60 or 70 or 80 judges every time they are up for retention. Does it make a difference? Not that we've noticed, but as a judge needs something like 60 or 70% vote to be retained, we figure why not make them work a little harder? We even have a song we hum while checking the "NO" boxes (it goes something like this: no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no). Only once have we ever done a favor for a judge and undervoted (didn't vote "yes," but left it blank) and we felt so awful about it, we vowed never again.

We are especially unhappy with a judge like this (click link here) who lets a scumbag out on a piddling bail, lets him keep his passport, and then is surprised when he probably flees the country after beating a man to death with a bicycle lock. A man far wiser than us told us once that there wasn't an honest judge in cook county, just lesser degrees of dishonesty. Now, more than ever, we see how wise this man truly was.

The FOB site is currently doing a survey on judge's behavior, especiall when it comes to battery on PO and resisting incidents. I'll take the resulting list into the voting booth with me if they publish it.

Could anybody who reads this site make a $900,000.00 bond? Before you yell, I know you only $90,000.00 to walk. You are only hearing from the victim's family. There is much more to this story then what is in the Tribune.

There was a fight and not some random attack. No excuses made for the offender. The family is upset so why is it the fault of the Judge?

Check out this story in St. Louis about two DJ's who called foe disarming of P/O's. Maybe Mr.Moderator can pull up the link, I tried but goofed.

Police call for firing of two DJs
By Emily Dulcan

The local and national offices of the Fraternal Order of Police, the largest professional police organization in the country, are calling for the immediate firing of two DJs on radio station KATZ who discussed on the air how to injure police officers.

John Helmkamp, KATZ marketing director, said Tuesday he expected to receive a statement from general manager Lee Clear about the DJs' future at the station. However, Clear's decision had not been made public by the close of business Tuesday.

Kevin Ahlbrand, president of the St. Louis Police Officers Association, wrote to Clear on July 21 stating that the station's reprimand and suspension of the DJs was insufficient. The call to fire them was unanimously supported by the local Fraternal Order of Police lodge executive board.

If the DJs are not fired, Ahlbrand said, he has been directed by the local Fraternal Order of Police board to call for a boycott of Clear Channel's advertisers. He said he also would promote such a boycott at the FOP's biennial national conference, beginning Monday in New Orleans. About 4,000 officers are expected to attend.

People listening to KATZ (100.3 FM) said DJs Kaos and Syllli Asz talked with callers about how to injure officers and take away their radios so they couldn't call for help. The two were suspended indefinitely after the July 13 incident.

Ahlbrand said DJs who potentially have influence over hundreds of thousands of listeners should be held accountable for what they say on the air.

"Under First Amendment rights they can say whatever they want. However with that freedom of speech comes added responsibility," he said. "We believe a line was definitely crossed."

The DJs made their remarks a week after the killing of Kirkwood police Sgt. William McEntee on July 5.

Chuck Canterbury, president of the national fraternal police group, sent a letter dated July 26 to Lowry Mays, president of the board of Clear Channel Communications, which owns KATZ, and requested the termination of the DJs.

Kaos and Syllli Asz wouldn't be the first area DJs to be let go for program content that some listeners deemed inappropriate. In November 2003, KPNT (105.7 FM) fired Jeff Fife and Tony Mott, co-hosts of the afternoon drive-time show, for racy on-air dialogue and porn-like photos posted on the station's Web site. And in 1993, Steve Shannon and D.C. Chymes, who co-hosted the WKBQ (104.1 FM) morning show, were fired after describing a caller with a racial slur.

because the judge sets the bail. everything we've seen says that the kid who got attacked was just walking up after the suspects got their asses kicked somewhere else. if you know something else, post it so we don't have to rely on the media and their half truth b.s.

In "old" Mother Russia we never worried about judges handing down sentences. All capitalists were hung and conservatives received life sentence. Aaaah, the good old days.

Come on Lads lets put the blame where it belongs? On the Ballless State attorneys office. They cant blame the police for this one. What if the offender was a M/1?
Probably no Bond right.

I wish I could get every rejected homiceide case in Cook County and find some prick lawyer to sue Devine and the ASA supervisors individually for misconduct on behalf of the deceased family members. We arrest(great police work by patrol as usual) them and because we are not in Lilly white Suburban Cook County and the victims are poor African Americans with IR numbers killed by there fellow citizens, we cannot get charges approved. Its frustrating being a dick when weve done every thing from the arrest on and get sodomized by Dickiie Devine and the ASAas.

Remember Lads never trust an ASA, he or she is a lawyer, lawyers become judges and they enjoin burning a coppers just like a G-man.

Remember Cook County court is were Fantasy become Reality.

How about Buffalo Grove? The two victims were murdered and set on fire. Devine himself was on television announcing the charges.
Now if this was Atgeld, Grand Crossing, Henry Horner, So Chicago,
would we see DICK run , excuse me I mean speak. DICK DEVINE would be no where to be found.

We have to give the States Attorneys office the well deserved credit they never get.

Funny,Like you, I have always voted not to retain any of the cook county judges and am mystified why they are always retained...I think judges should have term limits....
