Oops! He did it again!

Darn it all! Looks like G.W. Bush just pulled off another stunning foreign policy triumph. North Korea has promised to discontinue it's nuclear weapons program following 6 nation talks. Of course, North Korea promised the same thing to Clinton in the 90's and ran full speed ahead on a weapons development program, so you can't trust them any farther than you can throw them. But in the face of everyone on the left saying "Chimpy Bushitler" is a go-it-alone cowboy who would lead the world to ruin, this is a remarkable piece of diplomacy, and if verifiable, worthy of comparison to Reagan at Reykjavik - you don't back down in the face of threats on the international stage. This would also permit accelerated action on Iran and Syria which, in the case of Syria, will be resolved before Bush leaves office.

Watch the left deny that this is anything meaningful though (conveniently forgetting Clinton's faux pas). They'd deny Bush accomplished breathing every day unless Rove was compressing his chest, but this could be huge news.

UPDATE: North Korea is now saying that they won't surrender any weapons programs until they get a light-water reactor from the US. This is, of course, completely at odds with the document they just signed, but what do you expect from these goofs? An agreement without verification is just a bag of hot air.

“REAL TIME WITH BILL MAHER”

HBO BROADCAST TRANSCRIPT

September 9, 2005

Episode #316

Mr. President, this job can't be fun for you anymore. There's no more money to spend. You used up all of that. You can't start another war because you also used up the army. And now, darn the luck, the rest of your term has become the Bush family nightmare: helping poor people.

Yeah, listen to your mom. The cupboard's bare, the credit card's maxed out, and no one is speaking to you: mission accomplished! Now it's time to do what you've always done best: lose interest and walk away. Like you did with your military service. And the oil company. And the baseball team. It's time. Time to move on and try the next fantasy job. How about cowboy or spaceman?!

Now, I know what you're saying. You're saying that there's so many other things that you, as president, could involve yourself in…Please don't. I know, I know, there's a lot left to do. There's a war with Venezuela, and eliminating the sales tax on yachts. Turning the space program over to the church. And Social Security to Fannie Mae. Giving embryos the vote.

But, sir, none of that is going to happen now. Why? Because you govern like Billy Joel drives. You've performed so poorly I'm surprised you haven't given yourself a medal. You're a catastrophe that walks like a man.

Herbert Hoover was a shitty president, but even he never conceded an entire metropolis to rising water and snakes.

On your watch, we've lost almost all of our allies, the surplus, four airliners, two Trade Centers, a piece of the Pentagon and the City of New Orleans…Maybe you're just not lucky

I'm not saying you don't love this country. I'm just wondering how much worse it could be if you were on the other side. So, yes, God does speak to you, and what he's saying is, “Take a hint.”

Not that it matters, but someone else put up the post on Maher, I don't even watch his show but instead watch the Gunsmoke reruns on the Western channel.

Wait. First you talk about how GREAT Bush is for accomplishing this foreign policy goal and then UPDATE that (who couldn't see this was coming!?) the NKs have gone back on their promise JUST LIKE THEY DID WITH CLINTON! HUH? How does this make Bush great on foreign policy? His admin didn't accomplish anymore than Clinton's did on this issue. In fact, they fell into the same trap.

At least he talked about it as it happened and not 7 years later after clinton was out of office and Bush is stuck to deal with clinton's lame ass foreign policy.

Dear post 09:03:30 PM

I guess a billion + people are wrong for not worshiping your God?!

Bush started the war in Iraq because Saddam had WMD. When the UN and ground forces told him that there are no WMD (which he already knew) he changed his theme to "Freedom". By the time this war ends 100s of thousands of people will have lost their lives...MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!

Bush does not even qualify to be a janitor let alone president of the most powerful nation.

I'm neither democrat nor republican, but I like to listen to the (common sense) voices in my head...something that this administration doesn't want you to do. I just don't understand the narrow minded, hypocrite republican philisophy- they are against abortion yet they're in favor of the death penalty?

All I want to say to you Mr. President is BRING IT ON and if you think you're just gonna walk into N. Korea, Iran or Syria- Think again!

This is the 9:03 poster responding to 6:58: i never said anything about their religion, but a billion people who submit (islam means submission) to the dictates of a religion that embraces the murder and slaughter of non combatants, yeah, i guess they're wrong. as i have no god but the almighty dollar, maybe those people would be happier chasing it. and bush went into iraq for 17 reasons - go read the resolution passed by congress and supported by john kerry and the hildebeast. only about 4 of the items deals with wmd. stop swallowing leftys talking points and listening to the voices getting thru your tin foil hat.

No WMDs? They (U.S. and Iraqi troops) found a factory in Mosul last month with 1500 gallons of precursor agent and chemicals to neutralize VX gas. This based on a tip by a captured terrorist.

By the way precursor agents are mixed together to make the chemical agent.

To 10:16 poster

Exactly! When the US Military finds 1,500 gallons of chemical A along with 500 lbs of mixture B, they media misreports it all and says "all they found were a bunch of precursor chemical compounds." And the left says "see? no WMD! Bush lied people died!" And its all bullshit because the minute you get a big enough mixing bowl and dump chemical A with mixture B, you've got 8 tons of VX or mustard gas or some other heinous witches brew. No one reports that and "lefty" runs with his misinformation and even he doesn't know the difference. screw the left and screw the media.

Saddam had those weapons along time ago...even the Kurds are going "Come on man, that was the 80s" and guess who gave him weapons during his 8 year war with Iran- Hello! Duh! I guess you should search the web for his video shaking hands with Rumsfeld.

Saddam was no imminent threat. The no fly zones were in effect for 12 years and he was under the watchful sattelite eyes of the CIA.

Speaking of slaughtering innocent people, how many tens of thousands of civilans have died in Iraq since this war began. I guess we'll just have to label them as "Collateral Damage"

There are thousands of people dying in Darfur, Sudan. Why hasn't Bush done anything for their "Freedom". I'll tell you why- because there's no oil or money to be made by Halliburton.

FYI, there is no connection between Iraq/Saddam and 9/11.

If Saddam has WMD capability don't you think he would've used everything if he knew he was in a lose-lose situation. I guess he's just a lover not a fighter.
