Late Quick Hits for Tuesday/Wednesday

Yes, we know it's Wednesday, but we didn't get to read the Tuesday paper until very late. Cut us some slack.
  • Job Openings! Sick of chasing criminals? Evil bosses with unrealistic expectations? Join the Fire Department and people will actually be HAPPY when you show up at their door.
  • Suicide by police. This is EXACTLY the situation that a TASER was made for. How long until the media is begging us to carry TASER's again after ripping us for months on that dumbass hype that died after being shocked?
  • You really shouldn't be quoted saying things like this, Sarge. Now we're going to have training videos on when we should write parkers and take away our discretion.
  • Powerball at $340 million. We aren't greedy, but we'd love to walk away with this payday and never look back. Anyone going to pick us up a ticket or three?
  • And finally, a practice in Central America that we might just want to adapt instead of stealing all of New York's ideas. Vigilante Justice Gone Wild!

Im amazed at how I used to let all this crap get to me. I got my pension ballot yesterday, and right in the garbage it went, just as I did with the last flop election. I know what your thinking but the next goof will only lie, cheat, and be pressured to do what FOP and Mayor daley want anyways.

Once you get made meritorious, or run for one of these BS offices your soul is no longer your own.

A Copper sneezes and if it somewhat sounds racial, s/he is fired. However Mayor Daley over charges senior citizens for sidewalks and we get another studdering idiot reply. A BA DEE AB A DEE... IT WAS AN OVERSIGHT.

Everyone figures...its my turn. Then they wonder why so many Coppers drink themselves into a gutter and/or eat their weapon. Its called GUILT.

Ive been in disfunctional situations before, but the Chicago Police Dept. definately takes the cake in that area.

I know I know.....why dont I just quit right?? because Im in to far now to quit. So I just sit back and collect my paychecks and laugh my ass off at all the ass kissers.

Al Capone lives inside Mayor Daley. ENTHUSIASMS

Refusing to yield with a knife in your possession while threatening injury constitutes deadly force, thank you very much!!!

Morning guys. I just wanted to spread some good news for a change and say thanks. I went to a concert last night at the U/C and was treated great by the coppers that were working there. I believe they were part of the detail unit but don't know for sure. Thanks guys.

SHAKMAN MONITOR WEB SITE

A new Web Site has been established concerning unlawful patronage violations in City of Chicago government. This includes hiring, promotional and transfer practices within the CPD.

Note that "exempt" positions within the CPD are exempt from the Shakman Decree. Hypothetically, if the City wants to name any ne'er-do-well off the streets as an "exempt", so be it. Their only "accountability" is the utter scorn of the rank and file.

Check out:

Hey quick Q for anybody that can answer. Why is it that a city worker that is Non Police thats injured on the job in the city of Chicago can receive workmans comp and even file a lawsuit for injuries sustained but a Police Officer injured in the line of duty cant? Just curious.

10/19/2005 09:34:00 AM

Because the city continues to pay you your full salary while IOD, you arne't entitled to workman's comp. You can however sue the people who injured you. The city will usualy sign a "severance" letter of some sort so they aren't liable if you lose

But a streets and san guy gets 66% of his pay. Same difference as full pay. We only get the tax write off. Id rather get more.

Yea, that White Shirt should keep his comments to himself. When's the last time he went out and wrote a parker? Bilandic was prabably still mayor.

Whenever we talk to the press (which should be never) - isn't it common sense NOT to say something that would undermine the ability of our officers to do their jobs? Isn't it already ridiculous the number and volume of constraints that we have to put up with?
I know that that Sgts' comment is fairly innocent but the point is that it implies that we only enforce laws when we "feel like it" or when we want to be annoying. The Sgt should be SPAAR'd for his comment.
As to Guatemalan "social cleansing" - what a wonderful concept, except 6:41 is correct. We'd see a drop in crime rates, prison populations and in social welfare programs. Yuppy liberals would no longer have the euphoric experiences of donating to the NAACP, Fader.com , Music Theatre Workshop, and other "criminals are just misunderstood human beings" organizations. And the press wouldn't have anything to write about!

I have to disagree, if someone is armed with a knife, the taser is not the option to use, if it fails and he's lunging, you're stabbed; knife calls for deadly force option, not taser, sorry, I love the taser but not for knives....

Very true. I have 9 chances in my Sig, only 1 with a taser.

Also Taser does,t always deploy. I have had that experience on 2 occasions already. Would not bet my life on it. A guy with a weapon is gonna get what he deserves....an all expenses paid trip to the hereafter.

Tasers are for unarmed bigger and stronger people or people under the influence

Someome with a knife who doesnt know what hes doing is dangerous

Someone with a knife who does know what hes doing is very deadly

Guns are for knife wielders

We cant afford to lose

You voted for the guy no one knows who didn't tell you anything who never went to a meeting. You didn't vote for the only guy who did because Tierney said bad things about him. Thats what Tierney is counting on--ignorant, uninformed masses who don't think for themselves.
