1,000 a day!

It was a decent week all around, with over 1,000 visits a day for FOUR days running. We also seem to have touched a few nerves with the manpower and redeployment issues. Although there really isn't any way to see if it was us, we'll take credit for it.

Might be light posting this weekend as we have a few things to do (like winterize the house), but we'll try to post an open thread or Quick Hits type one each day at the very least. Keep spreading the word.

HMMMM XXXXXL phil states today that 025 and 010 are the only districts at budgeted strength. Does this mean that those of us that live in the 19th ward were lied to by our aldercreature when she stated that 022 is at 100% strength and will continue to be. We need to unite and vote these hacks out!!

Bet Ginger wishes Hohm was back, she never got BS info. Garrity now tells her what she wants to hear.

But 022 front office is all hacks tools of the 19th Ward

I was thinking about the comments made by some the other day about dropping the school requirements for new recruits.

Then it struck me: the city has been looking for a way to get rid of the educational reimbursement plan for a while now. What better way to save multi-thousands of dollars than to make sure that at least some of the schooling is already mandatory, thereby saving the city from having to pay for what would be a minimum of 2 more years of classes for every new recruit that comes on.

From that perspective, I wouldn't be surprised if they actually raised it to a mandatory 4 years of college.

Boys and girls, bite the bullet, and take advantage of letting the city pay for your education before they figure out a way to stop doing it! They've paid for two degrees for me already, and I think I'm going to go for an MBA in the spring. Why not? I don't plan on leaving this job early, but you never know. May as well take advantage of a true gift while it is still there.

To SSC:
A new open thread...
Open thread doesn't seem like a worthwile endeavor. We have one already. Have you read it recently, it's total BS and sliding.
It's an embarassment to have it on this usually excellent blog.

I've noticed that in every daily blog topic there are quite a few excellent comments and they make me proud to be a PO.

We all have our moods and some of us play devils advocate but we all know how to cut through the nonsense. Keep up the good work and keep us in line. We obviously need it.

I agree with city on that point. Why should the city pay for college? Get rid of that because if you want to go to school you pay for it, not my tax dollars!!!!!

DOUBLE DIPPING FOP REPS.

I was at the building today when the FOP boys came for roll call. They forgot to tell us they are getting $400.00 a month a piece in addtion to to D8 and D5 pay to address roll calls. It sound like double dipping to me. Where are Fitzgerald, Main, Brown and Speilman to report the double dipping? Have a happy Thanksgiving to all. I hope the boys at FOP either choke on a turkey bone or the money they get double dipping from us.

A man wearing a black ninja mask and assless chaps was just caught climbing into SCC's bedroom window and sabotaging all his computer equiptment. When the mask was removed who was it? Everyone's favorite former techno-cop RH. Seems Lil Rich and the Walrus are pissed that this blog alerted the people in actual taxpaying communites that they are being shorted. These guys are terrified that dissatisfied cops have a place to unite and expose this political playground disguised as a police department. "For God's sake. The public and the media have access to this info.", said the Bridgeport Troll. "I'll bet my extra value meal that if this keeps up we'll....Gasp....have to move this department out of the stone age.", cried the Supersized One. ( The above is for amusment only! Just like the LAPA guy's poker machines.)

Try this experiment, take the fish and put them into a glass of beer. Then pull them out and have them wallow in the grease from a few sliders. Put them back in the tank and record the results.

Felony Review ASA's are the way they are because when they make any mistake, or take any case that isn't a slam dunk, they get their balls (or boobs) put in a vice and squeezed til they pop like a zit. I'm sure we all have horror stories about Felony Review, enough to write a book. I'm not a lawyer, so can someone show me in the Illinois Compiled Statutes where it says a "felony review" is needed?

About Felony Review

If you think your case is strong enough, than you should call for a Deputy override.

But before you do, tell the A.S.A. that you want a DENIAL NUMBER first. If you just call and hang up when they say no, they do nothing. If you ask for the DENIAL NUMBER, they have make a file and do as much work as an approval. Otherwise, they just hang up and they forget all about your case.

the 009th district guys on afternoons are a bunch of whiney 2 year wonders. they don't know the first thing about being the police. it's all "take care of me." who cares about doing the job. no matter what you do for them, they will still complain that it's not enough. 009 is a great district to work- just do yourself a favor and go to the 1st watch a.s.a.p.

To 12:43 About Felony Review.
Are you a moron, or just plain stupid. A detective has to call Felony Review and present the case to an ASA. Even if the ASA rejects the case they HAVE to make a file. The detective then goes to the Watch Commander, and only the Watch Commander can call the ADS and request an overide. The reason they hang up on you is because they know by talking to you that you are a moron.

The city gets federal grant money to pay for officers to go to school. That won't end anytime soon. I know some people have responsibilities at home and it's tough to go to classes when you have little ones at home, etc. Not to mention that it gets harder to sit in these classes the older you get. But if you can squeeze it into your schedule, you really should take advantage of the opportunity. Once you have the piece of paper, no one can take it from you. If you decide you can't do this anymore for whatever reason, it'll be easier to work elsewhere with the degree(s), than without. Just to get the occasional non-police perspective about things made college worthwhile.

For the person inquiring about the 009th District. ....... It's a great place, The locker room smells as if someone took a crap in the toilet but didn’t flush (The sewer in the basement backs-up) The lights in the men’s washroom flickers like a strobe light. There’s a large pothole in the parking lot where numerous officers have twisted their ankles (there’s no lights in the lot). The third watch desk sgt threatens to lock you up if you don’t do as he says. While in roll call or in any other room at anytime the plaster from the walls will fall on your head. But other then that, if you can find a parking space when a sox game is going on its not a bad district.

I think our attitudes will be more positive when computerized reporting comes out in the next few years. I remember watching "Crimewatch" with Peter Karl about 2 years ago and they showed how it works but I just find the district that has this technology.

But I'm happy to have E-Trak, Life is just sooo much easier.
