A Stupid Post

To the commentator who hops into a bunch of threads and claims "...this post is stupid" or "...this site is getting boring very fast," this thread is just for you.

Please enlighten us - What do you want to see? What would you like us to talk about? What pearls of wisdom are you bringing to the blog? Because so far, it doesn't seem to be much. We steal ideas out of the comments sections regularly when our well runs dry. And if the mayor and his cronies aren't getting caught doing stupid things and cops and firefighters aren't making the news for stepping in crap, we're always on the lookout for stuff to write about. GIVE US IDEAS.

Or when they spell SPEECH with an A, they look stupid.

But thats a typo not a misspelling
----------------------------------

Your use of the word "thats" is a contraction of the words "that is".
The use of a contraction requires the use of an apostrophe. The correct usage would be "that's".

Was that a typo Mr. Spelling Jagoff?

I originally posted this in the Eurabian string. Sorry for the repeat, but posting it again here seems apt.

As I review the various strings, I recognize that there are many bloggers eager to talk about the 009th District. Rather than see 009 related posts pop up in multiple strings, how about giving them their own.

In fact, there are probably bloggers from many districts (or even units) that would like to discuss their own issues and peculiarities. How about a "Unit of the Week" string devoted to a different district/unit each week. It may help contributors stay on topic.

... just a suggestion.

Here we go again in 016. It may be easy to complain about the response but when they say they have no cars they mean just that. Tonight the 30 sector has no police presence. Try to follow this: 1671 is covering 1633's beat becasue they are working another district. However 1671 is doing transports and hospital runs as well as directing traffic on 1611's beat at a traffic crash. 1632 never left the station and is handling a walk in traffic crash/dui because the desk apparently can't do it (yes there is a traffic car in 016 tonight in case you are wondering). It will be at least 330am before 1632 even gets to his squad car for the first time. 1634 - this is my favorite - are plain clothes in an unmarked. Living in the 30 sector of 016? Better start complaining.

This city makes me sick. All I can say is call 911. Because the educated ones that monitor the need for Police assistance state there is not a big enough request for Police service and that's why they arent beefing up 016. But dont you worry, Im sure FOP and Mark are right on top of the situation in 016 and will not stand for this. YEA RIGHT!

This is a regular thing in 016. You forgot to mention the car that goes to 025 too. Don't forget to include the few cars that make arrests and stay down for 6 hours. There are usually 3-4 one man cars on midnights every single night. On 2nd watch there have been no rapid response cars, no traffic car, no GANG teams(because they are assigned to the area and never set foot in our district)hell, it's impossible to get backup, and the dispatchers send you to a bunch of shit they shouldn't by yourself.
I have called the union. What do I get? Every district is short.
We might not have the serious crime here but we get a shitload of calls for service.
Now they add a MIDNIGHT GANG TEAM to the mix, pulling 2 or 4 (details to follow) more people out of a district that really has no one to give. This gang team will work 10-6 out of the area and be detailed by the area gang lt. to wherever he decides they should be. Notice came out Friday. Detail starts Thursday.
Why do we have 3 tact teams, 2 gang teams and now another midnight team needs to be added? WTF, who is the genius that came up with this one? Wouldn't the smart thing to do be to take one of those teams and switch their hours? This district is going down the tubes. We just can cover the square mileage with the amount of people we have working. Someone is going to get hurt because when the shit hits the fan, your backup is 50 blocks away. Is that even possible in another district? Hello FOP would you get off your fucking ass?

Sadly, the mutts in the city who do not deserve police service, inadvertently get the most. I know 025 gets cars from other districts, and multiple teams are frequently in the district - from ATF, DEA, postal police, SOS, TRU, and the Sheriffs' task force.

Much of it is due to calls for service - which are through the roof, and the number of AggBatts/Homicides.

It does suck that areas that have good, hardworking people and are thus, low crime areas, don't get the manpower commitment that 'pooky' & the others get down at Hirsch & Hamlin. And no coppers in any district should have their safety jeopardized by a manpower shortage - Hellllllooooo !!! FOP are you out there???

BTW, I worked in 016 a couple nights last year on a rapid car and we were busy. Not one "cat stuck up in the tree" call !

Seriously, I was surprised at how fast the night went by.

I find it amazing that, living in 016, I am paying close to $6000 in property taxes and have less services available to me than those who are paying 1/10th that amount, if anything.

The City that works...for citizens who don't!

Has it really ever been different in 016 though? I seem to remember my dad making the same complaints about manpower and lack of coverage over 20 years ago.

Just a little tid bit that has nothing to do with this. Friday a young up-standing citizen of our community was excuted in 025. In usual fashion a crowd gathered. The crowd was trying to get to the body which lay on the sidewalk. The crowd would distract the Poilce while others ran around to try to cross the other side. The best part or this story is that while 025 dist with the help of 015 dist officers tried to control the crowd we stood around for over 1 1/2 hours waiting for the precious Crime Lab to get the Pirssy little ass's to the scene.
What makes it even better yet was Deputy Sam onscene unable to make any kind of command decision. Why wasn't the body taken and processed else where, why no give officers permission to control the crowd? The damn Deputy couldn't even get OEMC to get him a contact number for Crime Lab or even an eta. Just more proof of useless bosses with no balls, just making working coppers stand around until someone gets hurt. We also heard uncle Phil was at 015 dist 1st watch roll call, maybe he should have come by to see the workings of his well oiled machined. What a

hey mr 1-3 year supercop. 10:38. you ever hear of protocol ? I know you think you are the only district out there but there are 24 more and 008 has more homicides then your dist. you ever think to crimelab was busy on another job before you critize them, so they arent the fastest but i bet there was miscommunication. your the police control the scene or you just cant take mr/mrs shithead getting in your face ? i know you would rather high five another car for the one rock pinch you got. GIVE ME A FUCKING BREAK..

I handled the homicide at the gas station last week, and my hats off to the 010th district. It was one of the BEST protected crime scenes I've worked on.They had everything taped off and complete control of the crowd who all went into their vaudeville acts when the TV crews showed up.Great job 010.

`ATTA BOY Coppers from 022 & 010!

Good Job today to the 023 coppers who caught the north end burglar with the crowbar after a brief foot chase today. Positive ID - cha-chinnnggg! Hell it wasn't even the "Witching Hour"!

Those previous posters (12:20 PM & 1:01 PM ) were right on the money, we should have more "atta boys" on this site. Even in slow districts there are fine coppers who all helped make today's pinch.

Let's have more "Atta Boys" for "a job well done" from your neck of the woods rather than constantly "roasting" ourselves in our own juices!

KUDOS to ALL of YOU who MADE a DIFFERENCE out THERE today!

when the shit hits the fan in 016, you can count on it being bonofied! five years ago there were about 305 officers. today, manpower is about 215, not to mention those detailed out, extended medical etc. etc. And yes, at times there are beat cars down! Not on paper though. CITIZENS, ARM YOURSELF.

7:34 and others. . .
I think that's what this Dept. wants in 008 and 016, any other districts like them. is this. We do the police work off duty. Property taxes ? Don't matter. Our mayor is white. Got's to kiss minority asses. Where's our city alderthings on this issue ? Probably some three way circle fuck with the f.o.p. and the mayor. If you p/o's in 008 or 016 get criticized by our good citizens for a slow response, tell them the true reason. Not enough police. Have them contact their alderthing. Be safe.

Why do we have to wait until someone gets hurt? We keep saying that is what is going to change our 016 situation. It's not going to happen, our safety is not a concern but the voice of the community is a concern.

What to do? Our job, the right way. Do not voluntarily take a two man job alone, wait for back up, if it's not available don't go in. Use 2 P.O.s to transport, stop letting the department get away with this, don't get hurt, don't get killed, go home to your family.

Let the good citizens wait until it's safe for us.

016 Dist. 37 square miles. Figure it out. Cicero to west chicago border. Belmont to North chicago border. Minus Norridge/Harwood Hts. Call a 10-1 at east river road and kennedy up by pavilion. Where is your closest backup coming from? Where is the farthest?

12 beat cars and a wagon. On a good night 1 or 2 rapids, and the 10 hr day cars detailed to 025.

Worse on midnights and days. 12 beat cars and wagon. If tact and gang teams aren't detailed somewhere.

Throw in your regular mix of incompetents and dogs that are in every district and there are serious issues in 016.

The district is too BIG. How about 026 dist. North ave to Irving, Cicero west to border.
I'm sure the city could find a spot for a station.

Hey 12:57,

It makes too much sense so obviously it won't happen. The only way to solve the problem is to do what King Richard did in the 8th Dist. a few years back. Hire a private security firm to patrol the quieter areas of the district.

So don't compare yourself to the other beat car's out there that don't have that luxury and are handling alot of bullshit jobs. While you get to pick and choose. And you have to perform or you will be like the rest of the beat car's in uniform.

I JUST DON'T STAY DOWN ON A NOISE DISTURBANCE FOR 45 MINUTES SO EVERY OTHER CAR EATS SHIT. I HAVE BEEN IN 016 AND ON THE JOB LONG ENOUGH TO UNDERSTAND THE GAME. IT IS REALLY SAD THAT THE DISTRICT HAS A DOC ZONE. I RARELY SEE ANY 10HR DAY CARS AND THE ONLY TACT/GANG CAR I DO SEE IS 1662E. I KNOW THEY WILL WORK. I HOPE I LIT A FIRE UNDER YOUR ASS. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO DISCUSS YOUR LIFE ON THE BEAT CAR, I WORK AT MIDNIGHT TONIGHT. IN UNIFORM!!! MAYBE YOU CAN MEET ME AT A SO-CALLED BULLSHIT JOB. MAYBE YOU WILL CALL FOR HELP SOMEDAY AND I BET YOU PRAY THAT I AM WORKING. WHO AM I KIDDING THOUGH, YOU PROBABLY DON'T GET OUT OF THE CAR TO MUCH.... SEE YOU ON THE BEAT!!! DON'T HIDE!!! I DON'T!!!
