Winterizing

Man, raking leaves, cleaning gutters, washing and placing storm windows ... we long for the day we can either move somewhere where we NEVER have to do this again or make enough money to hire someone else to do it.

We're going to try to do a little Internet cruising here and post a few threads. Treat this as an open thread in the meantime.

Le Deep Thoughts... (Cars No Longer Aflame Edition/American Soldiers soon to be safe from Iraqi carbombs... oui?!- Pleaze read wit' ze' best outrageous Fronsch accent! ;-)

The first step in a fascist movement is the combination under an energetic leader of a number of men who possess more than the average share of leisure, brutality, and stupidity. The next step is to fascinate fools and muzzle the intelligent, by emotional excitement on the one hand and terrorism on the other. (Bertrand Russell: Freedom, Harcourt Brace, 1940)

In all history there is no war which was not hatched by the governments, the governments alone, independent of the interests of the people, to whom war is always pernicious even when successful : (Leo Nikolaevich Tolstoy : Russian author, 1828-1910)

Governments have never learned anything from history, or acted on principles deducted from it: (Hebbel : German poet and dramatist, 1813-1863)

The biggest lesson I learned from Vietnam is not to trust [our own] government statements. I had no idea until then that you could not rely on [them]: ( James W. Fulbright - US senator who initiated the international exchange program for scholars, 1905-1995)

Penalty for Philadelphia Eagles’ Star Terrell Owens is Much Too Harsh for the Infraction, Says Rev. Jackson

Civil Rights Leader Calls for Fairness in Settling the Dispute
CHICAGO – (NOV. 11, 2005) – The Rev. Jesse L. Jackson, Sr., founder and president of the RainbowPUSH Coalition, issued the following statement today on the suspension of National Football League Star Terrell Owens from the Philadelphia Eagles:

Terrell Owens did an interview last week and engaged in some unsportsman-like speech, deemed detrimental to the team, but none-the-less free speech. He expressed some dissatisfaction with his contract, his team and the Eagles’ organization, which should have been expressed in a more professional manner. The Eagles have suspended T.O. for four games without pay and have decided to deactivate him for the rest of the year. His future in the National Football League is uncertain, thus potentially ending his career at its height. This punishment is much too severe for the charge. If he had been caught shaving points, selling drugs, carrying a gun or fighting some fans who provoked him, and he had not shown sufficient restraint, we could understand the severe suspension, because those are very serious and illegal acts. Unfortunately for T.O., who belatedly apologized three days after the infraction, the real question is: do his comments warrant a penalty this severe?

The answer is no. This does not warrant a one-year ban from the game. The NFL Players Association has taken a position that the punishment does not correspond with the infraction and the association wants the Eagles to cut T.O. if they are not going to reinstate him. I agree. T.O. has publicly apologized. His heart is contrite. If the Philadelphia Eagles’ owners do not find his apology acceptable and no longer aim to maintain an association with him, they should release him to the open market or free agency, allowing him to test the free market for his services. I call for fairness in this dispute.

The RainbowPUSH Coalition is a progressive organization, which seeks to protect, defend and gain civil rights, even the economic and educational playing fields in all aspects of American life and bring peace to the world. The organization is headquartered at 930 E. 50th St. in Chicago. For more information about the Rainbow/PUSH Coalition, please visit the organization’s website, www.rainbowpush.org, or telephone (773) 373-3366. To interview Rev. Jackson about this topic, please call the numbers listed above.

That shit-bird IS most likely attempting to strong arm the NFL for a franchise as he did with coke & bud. Even worse was that coke & bud caved to his extortion demands and gave his family a franchise in both. Why doesn't the "G" look into this righteous piece of shit

T.O. got what he deserved. He signed a long term contract and wanted to renegotiate after only one year. I gotta give him some credit for rushing back from injury to play in the Super Bowl, but that was done, more than likely, with a selfish motive in mind anyway.

The first thing he needs to do is get on ZOLOFT or some other mind-numbing drug so that he can keep his big fucking trap shut and stop INSULTING HIS TEAMMATES in the media. And I suppose he could follow team rules, too. He may want to listen to his coach, also.

Next, he needs to fire that fuck Drew Rosenhaus. As an agent, he is a huge tool. Maybe Rosenhaus should serve the same punishment.

NEXT QUESTION!!!

p.s. Maybe jesse don't understand the team concept, as evidenced by his failure in societal issues and his considerable personal gain in his private life.

p.p.s. If we're going to debate this, keep it at an ADULT LEVEL PLEASE!!!

Not sure if SCC mentioned this yet, but the bank robbery shootout in 009 last week sounds scary as hell. I'd have had to change my diapers if I were the guy involved.

I just heard it second hand from the source. '99 unit assigned to a hold up alarm pulls up BY HIMSELF, and has one of the usual suspects point him in the direction the offenders ran.

Starts around a corner into the alley, and something tells him to not go gunning around a corner. So he edges around and WHAM, two guys start unloading at him. They were waiting to execute him.

GEEEEEEEZUSSSSS H.

He dukes it out and hits one, who nevertheless keeps firing.

I wasn't present on the radio, but the second-hand info I got was that 007, 008, 012 (plus 009, duh!) and others came piling in.

Everyone had one of those moments of relief when you see the cavalry coming? This event has to be the defining moment for this PO.

Hope they give the guy a month off and a vacation wherever he wants to go, with whoever he wants to bring with. Nobody is paid enough for this kind of insanity.

God Bless EVERY SINGLE PO who responded to help.

Seriously, I ran through this in my mind a few times, and this would seem to be about as scary as the job gets.

The copper in 009 is very lucky to be alive. I heard there was a good response. i personally know the copper and he has several years on the job. He's a smart guy. I think his last training class was 13 years in the academy when we both attended it. But we do shoot once a year, i think we shoot 12 rounds? Not bad. I guess it could be worst

Jesse's kids took a twelve million dollar business and turned it into a six million dollar business. The reason Busch won't force them to sell it is because no one will buy it, not even a distressed sale price.

Jesse's kids are real rocket scientists.
