Did he LIE to us?

He told me the reason for the extension on applications for new Police Officers is because they have less than 500 applications turned in to date (473 as of yesterday, not including Internet applications that may have been submitted today).

See, here's what we don't get - if any true investigative reporter took the pains to actually, we dunno, ASK QUESTIONS and maybe ACTUALLY DO SOME FACT CHECKING, they would probably be amazed at how often politicians (especially chicago politicians) lie to the media. We suggested that the 3,000 number was a wee bit exaggerated 5 freaking days ago. No one extends an application deadline because you're getting too many applicants, especially if you're giving the test 4 times in a year.
We would suggest that maybe some reporters do a little legwork, ask some questions, grease a few palms and get some information. Have someone pay the $25 bucks and go do a head count at where ever they happen to give the test. Then figure out how 500 applicants becomes 3,000 test takers. Trust us, they aren't going to have 2,500 people taking it on the internet and only 500 show up at UIC.

OK, so the mighty midget lied to the city about the number of applicants for the police exam, newsworthy; maby. gonna get his ass tossed in jail/ran out of office because of this lie; doubtfull. one more log added to the fire that has, of recent, been lit under his ass; possible.
Who will be put in his place? It seems that everyone who was an actual threat to his mayoral status, has been run out of town long ago by various means. How come Paul Valas (old boss of Chgo Public School) hinted about possibly starting to think about maby running for some other "political office", and got a great political job else where? Hell I'd take a shure thing with good $$$ elsewhere, instead of a maby here, with a chance of having my career ended, wouldent you? (and dont tell me that that move was'nt made by da mayor!) Is there a decent alternatave to what we have? Jessie Jr? Meeks? come on, do we realy want either of those idiots running the show? I know the old saying of "be carefull of what you ask for..." His little thing in the paper the other day about "everyone wants to be mayor". OK, you get out of the first taxi cause the driver is a smelly drunk that cant drive, are you going to hop into the second taxi with a driver thats the same, or worse? Who is out there that is -#1 not connected to the mayor we have now, -#2 is going to take care of the city workers -#3 going to do a better job than our current regieme? Any Ideas???

I Have to agree with 0351's comments. the Devil you know is better then the devil you don't. I really cannot see a viable contender who would treat the CPD any better (and I'm not saying we are treated good now) then what we have now.
We could be treated any way we wanted regardless who was mayor if we would stick together as Police Officers. But to many ass kissing pieces of shit on this job.
As for the mayor, he will get his someday. He will learn soon what sorrow really is. How a person like him can look himself in the mirror. I dont like greedy people, he is a modern day Hitler, Napolean, Husein, Binladdin all in one. And the Mrs aint no betta.

Guys, I think we need to think alittle deeper here.
The #1 Q should be rewritten as, "Who else has the connections that the current mayor does?" Further, who does not want his connections?
#2 should be: Who cares about city workers? and why *should* anyone care? There is a sence of entitlement here, nowadays. When my parents got jobs (not CPD or CFD) in the 70's, they were expected to help out The Machine. Now, everyone want the world but does not want to pay the fair.
#3, The City works fine....for some people. It may not be me or you, but someone's damn happy and are not interested to see it change.

Good add-on to my questions, allow me a retort, 1- good comment on the "connections", yes, I would like to see someone with his connections in place, however, when you look at things like the hired truck scandal, and a few other things going on at city hall, I would like to see those connections used for the betterment of the city, and thats something I think we can (as a majority) agree on.
2- You dont think that Police and Fire pay the fair every day we show up and work? what are the ramifications if Joe/Jayne Citizen dont have a City Sticker? or, have a auto registered at Family/friends house outside the city but live here? Do they have a residency clause in thier employment? Lets look at a simple "domestic", Dr./Lawyer/Indian Chief gets into a shouting match with spouse, a simple 1-P, we get sent to call back for god knows how long if the police show up on the same situation! (Tell me if thats not true!) Yes, I knew the price of the fair to play this game, and I do play by the rules, but wouldent you like it changed too???

I'll start out at aboput $36,000 and work midnights. OK, the pay sucks , the hours aren't the best but its a secure job. OH WAIT !!

Well I can buy in Rogers Park, no wait a minute, on my salary I could not afford a home up there. OK how bout Uptown? No, there building more condos than they got hillbillie crack heads, and they want $300K plus. OK,OK, lets see, how bout Logan Square? NO, $36K just doesn't buy a home there, I'll have to work 2 side jobs to meet the mortgage. All Right Albany Park looks good, no wait, again $300-$400K condos-homes. I can't swing a mortgage on my salary alone. Well LIncoln Park, Lakeview, Goldcoast ,South Loop are totally out of the question. Well I could live on the West Side but I really don't think I would fit in. Oh the South Side is affordable BUT well, its the SouthSide, enough said. How bout the East Side, well if I get a map I could probably find it, oh whats that just look for the smoke stacks and stench? Wait how bout the far far NorthWest Side the place they call "Gods Country?" What this, $550K for a Georgian in Oriole Park? So I got my BA and want to work for the CPD. My salary can not buy me a home in the city unless I want to live in a neighborhood thats sub par. I just realized that I will not be provided Health Insurance by the City when I retire, not even a contribution. That shure the fuck dont sound like it to me! The truck scandal, the flower pots, that park with the silver turd, that sounds like waste! The ability to make a grant from the Gov't for a couple of million to improve the road ways in the city happen, and not increasing our taxes, thats a "connection", the abillity to create the "expansion project" at O'hare without crying poor to the City for the past few years which in the long run will benifit the city. ( you really want connections; Lil Dick should make all of his fat-cat rich friends who have been skimming off the top for the last few years do the O'Hare project for FREE, they made soo much money!). I'm talking about "connections" that will make the City better, not his friends richer! As for the refference to "reporations", well: I never beat any slaves, and I'll bet the individual never picked cotton, as far as I'm concerned "they is shit out of luck!"
