Our Inner Science Geek

Sorry, but this is just too cool for words:

The Crab Nebula, a supernova explosion that was so large, it was noted by Chinese and Japanese astronomers in the year 1054. The picture is actually 24 smaller images taken by the Hubble telescope and combined into this shot. The entire Nebula is 6 light years across. Found at Yahoo.com

Car 2 (alderman Burke), was whining on citywide 2 last night. 5 minutes wasn't a fast enough response by the 008th district to a burglary, maybe his own home.

Can 008th District fill us in on the details???

Alderman Burke does not live in the 008th Dist. And I don't think that car 2 is Ald. Burke anyway!

Ok maybe its not Burke, but it was Car 2 and he WAS whining on citywide 2, crying for the paper car, demanding a supervisor, he wanted the street deputy paged (PRIETO), and then cried some more when he didn't call his Blackberry. All this griping within 5-6 minutes of the job getting dispatched. From the way I understand it...Car 2 is the head of Finance, second to Car 1, the irish midget. I dont have a G.O. handy.

Gee, that's too bad. I'm sure it was a friend or relative of his. Maybe someone can explain to him how short we are that's why the response was slow. Though 5 to 6 mins after a dispatch for a paper job is not bad at all considering how large 8 is. But instead of looking at the real problem he will act like any Politician and try to blame someone else, in this case the Police.

He lives in 008 or at less had a brand new home built. It's about 5100 S. Springfield. Behind Currie H.S. (CPS). right along the orangeline. It's about 6,000 sq.ft. the home looks like a six flat condo building. UNBELIEVABLE.
How did he get that zoned? from industrial (the site of an old factory) to residential!!!

#008 DISTRICT has a covert vehicle assigned 24/7. PER Area#1 Chief, using 008 personnel in C/D......
What a waste of manpower, TWO P.O.s around the clock.
Top secret!

Not completely accurate. I worked special employment thus morning. 3 mancar plain clothes, marked car assigned to orangeline. Sat on the house for about 6hours.

I'm not talking about any other units. I'm telling you about 008 personnel. I had to get 3 event numbers through my tour,as a special attention. I saw your car in the firestone lot. There were two P.O.s in a covert on the block as well!

Billions and billions of years ago we were all just little specks of cosmic dust floating through our universe. Think if you can of the mathematical probabilities that allowed your ancestors to be brought to this point in space and to be part of a living breathing planet. To have life breathed into them and through the eons brought you to this very place. Now if you will, focus on your finger and imagine if all the atoms in it were their own universe....What the f%&k am I saying? I ought to leave the bong alone for awhile!

9th District has a car down THE ENTIRE TOUR on all three watches (906) as a "dignitary check car" . They have a list of all of the heavy hitters in the district from Daley's to judges and alderman to senators. Their only responsibility is to chesk on their residenced at least 3x per tour and log the times on their humper.

Maybe why that's why the Politicians don't care that certain districts are low on manpower. They have special cars assigned to themselves and screw the taxpayers.

Oh give me a break, the Alderman has a house in the 008th District. He generally resides on Lake Shore Drive, were he and his wife have a routine Sunday brunch, to which many notables routinely attend, including the Sneed of Suntimes fame, hence all the positive Burke articles.

You mean to tell me that a newspaper reporter is on such good terms with a politician that she writes Nice articles about him and does not ask tough questions? I'm appalled. That would never happen in Chicago.

I wonder what that company got in return for selling or giving that land to burke? How were they able to rezone the land so fast? Why wasn't the offender caught on video? He has camera's everywhere, and one points directly at the front door. He is never there why doesn't he have to abide to residency restrictions as a elected official? Why does he have a police radio? Does he still collect a police salary? If so why does the city demand that you quit one city job if your leaving for another for the average Joe. So many questions..

20 sector, 51st and pulaski-ish. I would never buy a house in that part of 008 and he builds a 5000 square foot mansion next to a public high school. Houses around him go for about 150's. His house at least 700,000.

I'll bet anybody $1ooo.oo this story (and we all know the newsmedia is here reading it) is never printed or aired on television. The newsmedia doesn't have the guts or integrity to print anything that would alert the general populace about the fact that there are two levels of class here in Chicago, the working class which you and I belong to and and the elite or the high society class which most in the newsmedia strive to become a member of. Think about it. They have NEVER spoke or printed one single word about taking cars from 016,017 etc. and sending them into 011, 025 etc., even though they know about it. You can bet your sweet bippy they won't print this story either because they CONSTANTLY sell their souls to get the little tidbits that the powerful throw them. The newsmedia today are nothing more thana bunch of well paid whores. On second thought they do not even dreserved to be called whores. At least whores or prostitutes have a little integrity or class.

Lets start taking cars out from Area 3 or the 1st District and send them to the westside. Then you will see the news media start to howl like a prostitute that got stiffed by her john.

Why would any media types even think that relocating certain beat cars from one district to another would be NEWS WORTHY....the only people crying about it is those who can no longer go home for lunch in 016th dst or do their tour from their living room. Sending Officers from one district to another is not a violation of the contract....the overall deployment scheme of manpower is determine by those from 35th St. So until someone come up with a direct violation of the contract, all you're going to have is a bunch of sour grapes. That line about endangering Officers because of depleted manpower can not hold water, simply because most districts face the same dilema during the 2nd watch, when there are so many more Officers attending court doing duty hours...thus less Officers on the street

Airport Alumni's (016th) Bungalow Babies (022nd)
persistent little bunch aren't they. It appears that they can't run the entire Department via their beat cars, so now they want to blame everybody and everything, because they can't have it their way as if they are at Burger King.
There will be alot of things that you will be require to do that you might not personally like, so long as you are on this job, so start now getting use to it and stop banging your head against the wall. Until you are in a position to change policy, you are nothing but a tool of the policies in place, like the previous post stated "Find a violation of the contract" if not...the next time you are send to another district "REFUSE TO GO" see how simple the answer is!!!!

Some of you guys just don't get it. I work on the westside and I could surely use the help cars from 016 etc., provide. But I'd much rather have them where they belong protecting mine while I'm away and that is in 016. It has NOTHING to do with contract violations or anything else. I pay property tax and part of that goes to the Police Department. I want the Police patrolling MY neighborhood, not in 025,011 or 015. They have more than their fair share of people for that.
Don't let your hatred or maybe jealousy of 016 cloud your judgement. We are entitled to Police protection, just as those that live in 011,015 or 025 are. How would you feel in all the fire stations, hospitals, post offices etc., etc. were sent to the westside? End of story.

The day you think cars from Area 3 don't get reassigned to the westside, retire. U would be in for a rude awakeing.

I work in Area 3 and we spent the entire year of 2004 in Area 5. We spent weekends in Area 4 this year.We loved it as it was much easier to get arrests. That being said Area 3 has cars moved constantly and by far have the lowest manpower. I hear guys from other districts talk about having 350 coppers. Area 3 dists don't even have 250. They don't need the manpower but, it still puts them in situations of having all 1 man cars on weekends on the 1st watch trying to break up bar fights and rowdy parties. Not to mention robbery after robbery after robbery. Its not safe.

We can cry all we want. Our voices go on deaf ears unless we r willing to go to the media and say something. Only the connected and those who cry pubicly get what they want.

I stand corrected about the cars from A3 going to the westside. I was referring however to beat or rapid response cars, not gang or tac. But I do apologize for forgetting about you.
