RIP - Fred the Baker

Michael Vale (aka Fred the Baker) has passed away.

For all you young whippersnappers, Fred was a hero to coppers everywhere. Neither rain, nor sleet, nor dark of night could keep Michael/Fred from his appointed rounds. We have just one question for everyone:

Who's going to make the donuts now?

Per the Superintendent, all flags at Department facilities will be flown at half staff for next 7 days. All exempts may wear the optional black armbands. Memorials of half empty Dunkin' Donut boxes, coffee cups and candles may be placed on the sidewalks in front of all 25 district stations and HQ. In the event of inclement weather, the display may be moved indoors temporarily.

TO YOU RETIRED GUYS.Let it go, you just don't got it anymore. Your not the police anymore. Guns for self-protection? Why are you going to walk around in 011,015,025,etc. If so, you should be disarmed.

To Mr. Anonymous (1:05)

Who the fuck are you to judge anyone? Are you the police? I would think not. Since you haven't walked a mile in our shoes, you don't know what you're talking about.

Oh, and by the way, the law is in place, the mechanisms for certification are also in place, so deal with it.

One more thing go fuck yourself!

Yes we should do away with concealed carry. The old west days are over. Have cops keep their weapons at the station. We always hear about the drunkard off-duty cops in bars acting like fools. They get drunk start talking war stories and next guns are waving in the air. Always the drunk cop family domestic where guns are present that makes a threat.

All through these extensive menu choices you were there for me. I will miss you and love you; and considering my current diet, I'll be joining you real soon.

To get back on the subject of this thread, I loved the Fred the Baker commercials. My favorite donut though isn't made anymore. The Dunkin' Donut. The plain donut with the handle. The cheap bastards at Dunkin' Donut stopped making them because they realized they were giving away more donut for the same money.

And before any of the peanut gallery decide to make a donut crack, remember, there aren't enough police in the world, let alone the U.S. to support Dunkin' Donuts. Almost EVERYONE eats donuts. So shove the stupid cop and donut joke up your ass before you spit it out.

Dear Mental Midget (10:33, et al)

The City of Chicago requires all firearms privately owned (meaning issud firearms from another governemtn agency, I.E. Illinois State Police, don't count) to be registered. There is not a handgun ban in Chicago, the City just won't register handguns anymore....unless you're a peace officer or the duty weapon of a security guard.

There is nothing in the City law that prohibits a citizen from buying a handgun in this state, the only problem is the registration law. If caught with a handgun, or any firearm for that matter, that's not registered, you lose it, but you're not in violation of State law.

The City has decided not to certify retired coppers because of liability fears that went unanswered. This has been overcome and the City has been taken out of the equation.

You don't like retired coppers carrying firearms? Well, too bad! The law is in place, the mechanisms to certify retired coppers is also in place, and retired coppers will be carrying. You can cry til the cows come home, but tough shit, it's the way it is. You can whine all you want, but you aren't getting your way on this one.

So try to have a Happy New Year, and oh yeah, go fuck yourself!

I've been looking at this blog for severaal weeks, and have come to the conclusion that many of the contributors are either:

-jealous of those who get promoted because they may have clout. Probably true, but not because they are related to someone, but rather that are working police officers who come to the attention of supervisors, who help them get good jobs (if you can't get off of your beat car, you consider any other unit to be "clout city").

-Some of you are incapable of puting three words together without profanity. We all have used it, but why disgrace yourselves in a blog that is monitored by the media and by a part of the civilian population?

-I personaly don't want to carry a weapon, but what is your hangup about retirees being armed? Maybe some of them think that they are not safe in their neighborhoods, wherever that may be, because the perceive many of the people on the job as lazy, don't give a damn individuals who are just in it for the $$$$$. You aere not going to win the praise o of the public when it takes 20-30 minutes to show up to an assignment. It may all be B>S> to you, but someday in the very near future, family members of yours may have the occasion to call 911 for assisintuito de humilhar quem saiu do compasso, ou só fazer barulho por fazer mesmo. Me senti o próprio sueco pensando "tsc tsc tsc"...

Mas what the fuck, Recife continua do caralho.

I hope that they get better treatment than many of you show people of the city.

-Many of you are bitter about bosses, Department policies, and your assignments. The job was a profession to me, and I am proud to have been a member of the Department. If you people can't look upon your positiion with pride and enthusiasm, you are in the wrong job. Go somewhere else and earn more that the money you get here!

-There are over 400 stars in the lobby at Police Headquarters belonging to peoplewho sacrificed themselves for the people of this City. Some were my friends.Don't disgrace them by posting items on this blog that give the impression to the media and non-police readers that the Department is composed of back-biters, racists, illiterates and idiots (easily determined by many of the comments read here).

Speak for yourself, bro.

In my experience, the overwhelming majority of off-duty police officers are superb drivers who meticulously comply with traffic laws.

Out of respect for Mayor Richard M. Daley, most retired officers
would never even consider carrying a concealed firearm.

Effective at 0001 hrs., the promotion and assignment policies of the Chicago Police Department will be legitimate.

I'm sure the rest of the people reading my writings, as well as the writings of others, understand what is being said.

I like my job and have no real complaints. I was late coming on, so I knwo (<----HOLY SHIT, a TYPO) what I left behind.

Been the police for almost 30 years and still don't undertand this fascination with guns. Haven't carried off-duty more than a dozen times - like knowing that I can but don't bother and don't know why anybody else does. Seen more coppers off-duty and on get killed with their owns guns that I tend to believe they would have survived if they hadn't provided their attacker with a weapon. A gun is a very poor defensive weapon in a surprise attack. Think about it . . .

Now I'm not saying that everyone should be in a panic, just be aware of what is going on around you, and don't think you can't become a crime victim, whether police or civilian.

(and I dare you to come lock me up! but be quick cause I'm not gonna be here long) If you choose otherwise, thats your CHOICE! The beauty of it is "THE ABILITY OF CHOICE" last I looked, this is still America. Why the fuck you thing the wall fell? One of the reasons are maby some of them "commies" were sick of having thier choices made for them?

And to the asshat that keeps on with his "off duty cops...need your guns...small dick...you are all a bunch of pussies..." Name the time & place! you better bring your gun, and make shure its well lubed! It might hurt less when I shove it up your ass so far you can realy shoot your mouth off!
