Rumor Thread (AND 500 POSTS!)

This is our 500th Post. Hooray for us! Thanks to all 87,000 visitors (or so) that we've have had these past 6 months. On with the rumors:
  • District parties being cancelled? This is an anonymous board people - let's see some districts named. This, of course, would tie into other numerous comments about morale being in the toilet. If the front office people are the only ones buying tickets, it's going to be a small party.
  • ANOTHER Payroll fuck up? Well, no one should be surprised. What should be surprising is that we haven't heard anything about a class action grievance being filed on behalf of the officers who are losing out on their money, their interest, their ability to buy new uniforms in anticipation of the cold winter, etc. If the FOP would get a couple of judgments against the city for this disaster, the city would fix it tomorrow.
  • Dicks Friday? Completely possible - they've had the letter for a few weeks now and they only get to pick 20% "merit" for D-2A. But if Detectives started next week, they'd graduate about January 2nd and they'd be in the Areas with the pre-Sgts. Why would they waste time training 80 pre-sergeants when they could be training people who'd actually be doing detective work? Unless the pre-Sgts are going in early?
  • How long has Cline been in the top spot? Has it been three years yet? And we haven't had a BIG scandal that'd drive him out - unless those other rumors about the 025th District "Broken Star" are coming sooner rather than later? Maybe he's getting out ahead of the bad publicity? Who has some solid info from 35th Street or 025 about the investigation?

I hate the holiday parties but I always buy a ticket if they are also the retirement parties. This is not to suck up, but to show up for the retirees and their families. Some of them I'm glad to see go, some I'm sorry to see go.

The District parties you can blow off but if your in a unit, your name is crossed off a list when you buy a ticket and the final list is allegedly sent to the commander for future consideration. A small price to pay,but usually a good time is had by all.

If you work with a guy for a number of years, and its his going out party, why screw him because the commander is a jerkoff. Show some respect for those who have served.

this is in regards to the residency post the other day (there are 125 comments and i now mine will not be read).
everybody seems to be bitching about coppers bithcing that we have to live in the city. living in this city is great for a lot of people and i am sure, if they ever got rid of the residency rule, many coppers would realize that after they moved out. this is not the issue, however. the main issue is that the city and daley think they can take away our rights as americans and put restrictions on our freedoms. i would probably stay in the city if the rule was changed, but i would like to see it changed. it sets a standard of control that i don't feel comfortable with and no one else should either.

now let the hammering begin. "waaaa if you don't like it leave! waaaaaaa" i'm ready

The Christmas/Retirement party is the same thing in my dist. Lets just say I'm on tact or gangs and am told to go or goodbye. I wouldn't go otherwise. If I was on the watch with the way they deny TD. They can bet I wouldn't be there.

They combine those parties so somebody will show up besides the back office and caps.

The 025 thing is completely blown out of proportion thanks to the internet! Will probably catch a sergeant and MAYBE two p.o.'s at most, but as of now, they aren't even the focus of the investigation. Hardly anything to make a Sup retire.

He has mentioned several times lately that this coming summer may be his last, though not because of any big scandal.

Let's be real though, there is a major scandal one conversation away from erupting in every District in this city at all times! Three men can keep a secret...if two of them are dead!

Where is my uniform check? Does anybody know? Am I not a P.O. assigned to the Detective Division. Don't I have to have a uniform in my locker at all times. Well, guess what? It's too small and I was going to buy one with my December 1st uniform allowance. Can anybody relate?

uniform check money is being donated, with the approval of the FOP, to defend City Hall patronage hacks against accusations that they violated the Shakman decree prohibiting political hiring and promotions. I thought the retirement party is to honor those people you have worked with over the years. Screw the bosses. No one says you have to talk with them at the party. Go say goodbye to those officers they were faithful comrades.

the xmas/retirement party iIS to honor those officers who have "put in their time"; however, with the advent of straight shifts, and with so many new people on the job, many of the new officers have no idea who the retirees are, or have had any opportunity to have worked with them....and so, many of the new people don't have an interest in attending the parties.

Sorry, thread jump, but for Officer safety.

Do you have Point Blank body armor? Read below...

---
Marines Issued Armor Despite Warnings

Submitted by Ted Kahl on May 9, 2005 - 10:03pm.Military

(Marine Corps Times) The Marine Corps issued to nearly 10,000 troops body armor that military ballistic experts had urged the Marines to reject after tests revealed life-threatening flaws in the vests, an eight-month investigation by Marine Corps Times has found.

In all, the Marines bought about 19,000 Interceptor outer tactical vests from Pompano Beach, Fla.-based Point Blank Body Armor. According to a government memo, the vests failed tests because of "multiple complete penetrations" of 9mm pistol rounds and other ballistics or quality-assurance tests.

After being questioned about the safety flaws for this story, the Marines ordered the recall of 5,277 Interceptor vests on Wednesday. Many of the vests were issued to Marines in Iraq.

The Marines have not said what they intend to do with more than 4,000 other vests still in use or about 10,000 in storage.

Government ballistics expert James MacKiewicz, in a memorandum rejecting two lots of vests on July 19, 2004, said his office "has little confidence in the performance" of the body armor.

After five hours of deliberation, the jury recommended DEATH (by lethal injection) for Joseph Smith for the videotaped abduction and subsequent rape and strangulation by ligature of little Carlie Brucia, age 11.

Now that "Ol' Sparky" is gone from the Florida State Penitentiary, I believe the needle is too sweet for this monster. The needle should only be used as euthanasia for a beloved dying pet.

Either take Smith into a public square and impale him anally with a sharpened eight-foot pike as he lies prone. Raise him upright and let gravity do its thing before an applauding crowd. Nice and SLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW.

Otherwise, spend the rest of his miserable life isolated in an 8' x 10' cell or perhaps better yet, release him into the general population as their "receptacle" ho--"the gift that keeps on giving".

All that crap about 025 is rumor. Some rumor satrted by haters of plainclothes p/o's that one of them is being investigated for putting drugs on a guy, and some crap about a dog hitting on his locker.
Still more rumor about some Sgt. (who will be nameless, but he usually works the desk - which is good because he's clueless) who likes to hang out at some pawnshop (north and lotus) for hours at a time, when he is on the street. Same rumor about the former park car guys (former tact guys until they fell asleep on a stakeout - during a hit) who sit in the back of the same place "Fast Cash Park" checking out the playstation for most of the shift.
Rumor was that they were involved in a gambeling ring out of the shop. Pure crap. Besides, they are hard chargers, and they can get you a great price on anything you need. Just give them 3 days to get it.

Heres the rundown in the 025 District.
You have a Sgt. who cries when he cant
get his way, you have another Sgt. that likes to pick up prostitutes and when he can't get them to do what he
wants, he calls the police to report
solicitors in the heart of copland. Lets not forget about the Sgt. thats big and dumb who's son runs around the
west side looking for drugs. There is of
course the Fat Bastard Sgt. who has never done police work in his police
career and then shits on the working
coppers. Finally, there is the two faced Sgt. who pats you on the back one day and shits on you the next. All Sgts. are lead by a drunk watch commander! We can't forget of the commander that was supposed to bring
new light into 025, rather he looks to sneak out of the station once 4 o'clock roles around. There are vacancies in the 025 Dist.

Greetings:

I am a 30 year veteran and I just found out some disturbing news.

For all of you who argue against the Residency Requirement saying that if the City is good enough to work in, its good enough to live in. Be careful of what you wish for.

I hear that because of all that dribble, that the City wants to eliminate or reduce your retiree pension percentages if you are not an actual resident of the City of Chicago. In other words, you cant have a mail drop in the ol' corporate limits while you retire away in Florida. It will be checked.

From what I have heard that a super secret plan is in the works. It seems the city believes as you do, that if the city is good enough to receive a pension from, its also good enough to retire in and spend your golden years in. They want you to be able to give back to the City that contributed to your pension for so many years. They want you to buy your city stickers and property taxes here not in Florida.

So a plan is in the works to amend the pension code so that it eliminates the pension for non-city residents or greatly reduces the pension benefit. The alternative plan is to argue for such a plan in the next negotiations

Be careful how much you argue for the residency requirement, you might just have to live here longer than you think!

The plan is in the works although it will not be publicly admitted.

Trust no one. Remember there are they who want to keep the residency requirement in place to keep their home values stable. No one can be trusted while this secret plan is being instituted.

Remember, this is top secret, I shouldn't even be telling you but I care. My pension won't be reduced because I will live here.

Enjoy it while it lasts, especially those who are yelling that we knew we had to live here when we took the job. Times sure change don't they.

Better get ready to stay or move back in if you want your $$$.

Happy New Year.

From Post you are referring to:

__________________________________

I would think that amend the pension code is talking about changing the law. Just like the law that restricted our ability to collectively bargain over residency why not a residency program for retirees.

Now all of you people with 8 years to go until retirement who are for the residency requirement because you own your homes and want to sell your $500,000 homes (which in reality are only worth half that because of the residency restriction) that you paid $28,000 for to put your money where your mouth is or is that only when working for the city and YOU own your home.

Selfish Selfish Selfish. One Way!
