STORMWATCH!!
We are under a STORMWATCH people! This is serious! Channel 2, Channel 5, and Channel 32 have it as their lead items on line.
So we checked our supplies of food and water. Made sure we have salt and shovels available. Threw a set of jumper cables in the car (because you never know when you might be able to make a few bucks jumping cars). We even put a couple of old chairs we keep in the basement out by the curb in anticipation of staking out scarce parking spaces.
We just looked outside and sure enough, it was SNOWING! In Chicago. In December. Who'd have thunk it? We fired up the leaf blower (gotta bring on that global warming a little faster) and cleared off the sidewalks and the neighbors on both sides because they're old. Has anyone told these media people that from time to time we actually get snow around here?
Of course, Streets & Sanitation threw 177 trucks out tonight (half the fleet) because Christmas is coming and those truck drivers need to get some overtime to buy tickets to the bosses Christmas parties.

I work on a tac team in a dist. within aera#1. Being forced to buy x-mas ticket,tac party ticket(yes separate from watch) BULLSHIT! sgt, tac LT. and Commander gift money...... I guess this is how it's always been? What I don't understand is we the P.O.'s work in the same dist together, but must have separate parties for everything! How can a Commander allow this to happen. Makes for shity morale. Don't these dip shits realize this is why EX-gov RYAN is on federal trial now.! EXTORTION, this practice is lines of coruption! I got fuckin P.O.'s from CAPS office warning me if I don't buy tickets, I better start looking for a partner a the watch.

The mode I learned from "politics kill". We must think as one, without scandal. I have done well by it. My theory is the BOSS, who ever it maybe Dist. C/O, W/C,LT. SGT's, politically clout heavy P.O.'s know their not liked because they treat people like shit, then come end of year they have to threaten too take your car away or partner. Hey Tac Man: If you really don't want to go then don't. As a former Tact. Sgt. and LT. no one on the team was ever forced. In fact many didn't. It wasn't expected, the parties were a chance to get together for Holiday Cheer! Sadly some bosses and some officers view the parties as a chance to express their views. Just like boycotting St. Jude Parade. Parties are there to show comraderie and St. Judes is to express reverence to our dead. It is that simple. You need to look as to why you don't want to associate with your workers. If you have a good reason-then don't go, if your boss thinks otherwise, then it's time you moved on, you really don't want to work for him or her. Merry Christmas!!

Hey former TAC Sgt+ Lt. I like my co-workers. In the warmer months we have a few beers after work in the parking lot. I just don't want to go to a party run by and for the bosses to make them look good> Morale sucks, anything offical that I can dump on, I will.
I have no problem buying tickets and going to a benefit run by a copper for a copper. I love the St. Jude parade but the bosses act as if it's a reflection on them and not coppers honoring our fallen, it's sickening.
Just remmeber the coppers at your Christmas parties were only there because they HAD TO BE.
