Sergeant Contract Passes

The contract was approved something like 45 to 0, so we guess the mayor got everything he wanted out of the Sergeants. Congrats to the Sergeants.
We're experiencing technical difficulties tonight, so posting may be light or non existent. Use this as an open thread in the meantime.

Why are they having recruits ride along with TRU? Is it that hard to teach recruits how to do contact cards and impounds?

From what i hear...TRU delivers more activity than $O$ or Sons of Supervisors. Last I heard for every one CR number TRU gets $O$ gets 3-4.

$O$ are the King of One baggers.

I mean they are the real police just ask them.

My prayers to The NYPD for the their loss. Secondly congrats to the SGT's any money you can squeeze out of the city GOD Bless.I refuse to bad mouth TRU or any other coppers for that matter. I know it is hard for most of you to fathom this concept. As for the misinformed poster talking about TRU delivering more "activity" than SOS. They do their thing we do ours but check the stats at the weekly exempt meeting before you go running down hard working coppers. The public must love coming to this site to watch us bash each other, real mature on our part.

I work in a busy district where TRU is assigned, for now...till the DOC changes. Now, I work a beat car and lock-up. I seen some of the arrest these guys would bring in. Very time-consuming and pretty much not worth it. It's all about the head. Our watch commanders got together and made it clear that these guys can no longer use our lock-up and they had to take their prisoners to the area. They were just making our busy as hell district even more hectic with all the bullshit arrests. That's from the lock-up point of view.

On the streets: Our regular players or guys who really have nothing to do but stand on the corner have nothing but negative comments about TRU. Most common thing said: "you district guys are cool as hell, but those TRU guys are on some serious bullshit" It just makes our job, in our district, which is a hell-hole as it is, even worse. We have to deal with the salty attitudes TRU leaves with these people. TRU don't care...they leave. Our sgt's have to chase these guys all night with all the CR numbers.

They are always on another zone. If we need their back-up, unless they on-view it, we will not get their back-up. Same with them...we see them driving lights and sirens but we have no clue what's going on, because they are on a citywide.

We all have are job to do...but please, do not make these guys the answer to all the district problems, because they have caused a few if anything.

It really makes me wonder when the opinion of UPS's on the corner make a difference. You are actually complaining about PO's doing police work. Yes, many of the arrests are nonsense but at least they are doing something out there. When you are complaining about Police arresting people then youre heart is in the wrong place. And no I do not work in TRU.

Was that guy taking the side of the shitheads against TRU? Being the police is not about being cool. Your stint in the lock-up tells me you have bingo seniority. Wait til one of those corner dwellers is kicking your ass, you'll be more than happy to see TRU.

to the lock up keeper from 7 yes you complained enough for us to have to take our prisoners to two, because you were too lazy do to do your job and as far as back up the only time i see you is when you work lock up. your never at any of the hot calls whether its on the zone or the city wide. so continue to act tough and get loud with your fellow officer's when they bring a prisoner to lockup, but be a pussy on the street and worry about what the thugs on the corner think.

I'm glad we have this forum to announce that our Sgt. contract has passed..god knows our wonderful union, the PBPA, has not posted anything on our website since January 6th, Oh I forgot our new fearless leader promised to update the website more often, I can see the 1st broken promise was made less than 6 months into his term..$50.00 a month..what a joke

Okay, I work in TRU....that's the disclaimer.
I know most of us bust our asses on a nightly basis. I know a lot of district guys bust their asses on a nightly basis, remember we all came from districts.
Sometimes we make pimpy arrests to get the head and court, sometimes district personnel does. I know I work hard every night to get a quality head, sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't.
Point is this, we all wear the same uniform and all are on the same side. Whether you work in a district, TRU, SOS, OCD or wherever, the more we bash each other on here, the worse we look. We should be bad-mouthing the real enemies. Remember when it comes time to barter a new contract, a divided house cannot stand.

10:54....you must not have a department e-mail address. For you and the others who don't, this is what PB&PA sent out today:

08 February 2006

Dear Fellow Sergeant,

Our Contract passed out of Committee on 7 February 2006 and went to the full council.

Our Contract was ratified by the full city council today, 8 February 2006, by a vote of 46 to 0.

Our Contract will automatically become law in thirty (30) days (unless the Mayor signs it before the 30 days are up).

The next big question is “When will we get our Retro Checks?” (We’ll try to get some clarification and get it out as soon as we are more sure)

Thank you,

Mike & The Chicago Police Sergeants’ Association

P.S. Please be patient – we are in a transition period with our Website - We hope to have it up and running properly by the end of the month.

IN THE MEAN TIME PLEASE POST THESE E-MAILS ON THE UNION BOARDS AND CALL US (773-376-7272) OR TALK TO YOUR AREA DIRECTOR TO DISPEL ANY RUMORS

I agree with the Area 4 det. I think that guy WAS taking the side of the shitheads. Forget him, if he thinks "being cool as hell" in the eyes of corner thugs is important, he needs to re-examine his priorities. You wear blue, you seems to forget that. Did you also forget the "us against them" mentality you need to keep when you are on the street? Wait till the thugs you seem to care about are kickin the shit out of you and you actually need TRU to come rescue your big dumb blue ass. I also am NOT TRU.

I like TRU. To be more specific, I like the guys that have been in TRU for a while. There is no glory in TRU, they get slammed at every opportunity. They don't have (for the most) very experienced officers in TRU.
They do have officers that have zero clout, but want to work. MORE POWER TO THEM.
For ever guy in SOS that knows his shit, There are 3 clout babbies riding his coat tails. Fuck SOS.
Most of you coppers out there bitch anbd whine about the corrupt promotion system, the corrupt coppers with a spot, the politics in the job, etc.(myself included)
TRU would seem to be the ONLY unit that guys/gals can get into based on their "activity" as opposed to their "sponser".
To the lock-up gut bitching about pimpy arrests, FUCK YOU! When you work lock-up, your job is support, to help fellow officers. How dare you bitch about pimpy arrests. You sir, are the DOG-ASS. You would be very hard presed to find a job in the civillian world that pays as well as you get, for the amount of work you do in lock-up. You should be laughing at the arrestee, not criticizing the aresting officer.

MAX Out of here in january 2007, really feel sorry that so many of you have subcumbed to what we used to refer as "The John Wayne Syndrome" as screwed up as some of these neighborhoods are and as screwed up as some of the people are, I have always been able to find descent people, regardless of race. This constant bantering, finger pointing of each other is like listening to a kindergarten class breaking for recess. the hatred and disdain that you show each other, its a wonder that there aren't shoot outs in the roll call room, drive-bys at the gas pumps. The City of Chicago would do well and return to hiring high school graduates and veterans, most of those guys just wanted to be the Police and do the job, so many on this board only post contempt toward their fellow Officers, based on their job assignments. Damn this use to be a good job, with good people. Now it seems like the back room of some corporations, everybody showing up with a knife to stab in the other guys back. I see nothing that I could confuse with Pride, integrity or professionalism....just a bunch of cry babies

I have to agree with the 1:50 post. Loyalty, Unity and Pride have no meaning on this job anymore. It’s like High School everybody jealous of everybody else because of the spot they have or the job they do or dont do. You have to ask yourself this question, why do you work this job? Most answers used to be I like locking up shitheads or I do the job for myself , no other motivation. It would be nice to hear those answers again. So stop the senseless bitchin and crying. Stop bashing each other and the department. Due your job and take care of each other....NO ONE ELSE WILL!!!

I REMEBER BACK IN THE DAYS OF GANG CRIMES. I WOULD LOVE TO SEE THE FACES OF THE COPPERS IN THOSE SOUTH/WEST SIDE DISTRICTS WHEN WE WOULD SHOW UP. THEY LOOKED LIKE "WHO THE FUCK ARE YOU". WE HAD THE W/C IN 007 REFUSE TO ACCOMODATE OUR PRISONERS BECAUSE THE LOCK UP SUDDENLY WENT DOWN. WE HAD TO PROCESS OUR PRISONERS IN OUR CAR AND TAKE THEM TO CENTRAL-D. WHEN WE WOULD PLAY THE RADIO WE WOULD HIT THE HOUSE, FLIP EVERYTHING INSIDE, IF THERE WASN'T A GUN WE WOULD LEAVE. THE SHITHEADS WOULD BE STANDING THERE IN TOTAL CONFUSION. THE ASSIGNED BEAT CAR WOULD GET ON THE AIR AND SAY 19-P THIS ONE TO THOSE GYPSY PO-LICE OR THOSE PHANTOM PO-LICE.
SOME OF THE BEAT CARS AND DISTRICT SUPERVISORS DIDN'T LILKE US BUT MOST GUYS DID ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY CAME ACROSS SOMETHING THAT THEY DIDN'T WANT OR DIDN'T KNOW HOW TO DO. THEY WOULD COME UP ON THE AIR, " YEA SQUAD CAN YOU SEE IF ANY OF THOSE GANG CRIMES ON THE ZONE CAN MEET US OVER HERE." BUT THEY ALL LIKED US WHEN THE SHIT WAS HITTING THE FAN AND THEY WOULD CALL FOR AN ASSIST OR 10-1 AND ONLY 1-3 OF THEIR OWN DISTRICT CARS WOULD SHOW UP AFTER THERE WERE 5-10 GANG CRIMIE CARS ON THE SCENE TAKING CARE OF BUSINESS. WERE WE PRIMA DONNA'S? KIND OF, I GUESS. BUT IT WAS A BLAST. HERES THE KEYS, YOU GOT 8 HRS TO EAT, AND FUCK WITH SHITHEADS. IT WAS GREAT. HEADS WERE HEADS AND POINTS WERE POINTS.

"the hatred and disdain that you show each other, its a wonder that there aren't shoot outs in the roll call room, drive-bys at the gas pumps."

LOL.. You either don't visit this site often or actually believe that anything said here translates as the general opinion of the entire department.

Although this site may be visited by alot of department members, lets go crazy and say half of the current 13,000, there are probably only about 50 people posting here.

Go craaaaaaaazzzzzzzyyyy and say there a 200 people posting here, that is a very small percetage of the department.

I would venture to say the majority of the postings (90%) are by people most would be considered softballs.

The other 10% are the postings that actually make sense and keep this blog somewhat worth visiting.

So I wouldn't be too worried that the department is falling apart based on what you read here on our bathroom wall.

It's mostly bullshit from about 20 or so softballs that have no life, still go to the local cop bar and tell the same stupid cop stories over and over and over; and will continue to bitch and moan until the day they either die or retire or both.

Take a break, office.

Time to watch an absolutely great DVD--"CRASH". While I often disagree with "the Academy", this film actually deserves its Oscar nomination for best movie. It demonstrates how prejudices among disparate strangers, including police officers, weave together over a 36 hour period in contemporary L.A.

Finally, a movie that shows that people are only deluding themselves by embracing "political correctness".

FOUR STARS!

You hit the nail on the head! I'm a Sgt on the south side and if anyone has ever been to these bullshit accountability meetings, all they care about is the number of arrests. They don't care what they're for or how much the dope you confiscated in the month weighs, they want to know how many arrests have you made. Drinkers soliciting, you name it. A head is a head. They could give a shit about about quality-it's all a numbers game! It's very sad!

REMEMBER YOU GOT THE GOOD AND THE BAD AND YES THE UGLY ON THIS JOB. I REMEMBER JOHN MIEDZIANOWSKI, AND HE WAS ONE OF THE BAD ON THIS JOB. SOME ORIGINAL GANG GUYS BELIEVE HE WAS THE REASON THAT DALEY GOT RID OF THE GANG CRIMES UNIT. I BELIEVE DALEY JUST WANTED TO ELIMINATE IT A AND SEND MORE OFFICERS TO THE DISTRICTS W/O HIRING AS MANY PO'S. BUT GANG DID TAKE CARE OF BUSINESS. IT WAS W/O A DOUBT PROBABLY THE BEST UNIT THAT DID WHAT IT WAS SUPPOSED TO DO AND THAT WAS GET GUNS AND LOCK UP GANGBANGERS. THERE WAS NOTHING LIKE MOVING IN ON A DISTRICT AND THROWING EVERY SHITHEAD IN THE HOOD ON THE HOOD. EVERYBODY WENT. IF YOU WANTED YOUR FREEDOOM GIVE UP THAT PISTOL, RIFLE OR SHOTGUN. SOMEONE MOUTHED OFF AND CRACK!!! HE DID IT AGAIN AND EITHER HE WENT OR ALL HIS HOMIES WENT AND HE GOT CUT LOOSE TO TAKE A BEATING WHEN THEY GOT OUT. YEA THE GOOD DAYS. SCC why don't you take a poll to see what sort of cross section you have here. If everyone will be honest, put up a thread and have each poster identify the following.

Patrol-Beat car or tact
M/2/35
10 yrs on

No doubt many will vote early and often, but you may get a decent idea of what you have here.

My guess for the average is, M/2/35 - 40, patrol, beat car with about 15 years on.

The Dude Factor

There was a naroctics jury trial at 26/Cal going on the last couple of days and a particular 011th District P.O. took a liking to a "potential" juror prior to the trial. Well it turns out that "dude" lays the rap on ol' girl and slips her his phone number and tells her to call him. Well low and behold she is picked for the jury trial that he is going to testify at. Does he think that it might be a little important to tell someone, ASA, judge or sheriff about this little problem. NOPE, not a word to anyone. So he testifies, and during deliberations the 11 of the jurors were talking about this particular officers credibility on the stand, one of the jurors says something to the effect of feeling sorry for his wife, and ole girl that he hits on says "he's not married" The other jurors look at her and ask her how she knows this, and she tells them that he asked her out and gave her his digits. They all erupt in anger and the Sheriff has to quell the argument and when he learns what occurs, the ASA's and PD are advised and the judge, female, is told what occurred and she is furious. Well guess what.....they all get together in the Judge's chambers and the judge calls the officer on his cell phone (VIA SPEAKER PHONE), he answers and she tells him who she is. She asks him ablut asking the juror out and would you believe that he asctually denied doing this, to the JUDGE.. What an idiot. Then when she tells him that they got his phone number from her off of the piece of paper he wrote it on he goes....."oh, (gulp) her...yes I did ask her out. The judge declared a mistrial and gave dude a tongue shalacking as well. The ASA's had to Nolle Pros the case because there was no way that they could ever put P.O. DUDE back on the stand in front of the same judge. Can you believe this idiot. He better not hedge all of his bets and activity on dope anymore, most of the cases end up in this particular judge's room. He has lost all credibility with her, and the ASA'a. Oh, by the way idiot boy IS married....doh....guess you better stick to the hood rats in 011 and leave the jurors at 26th street alone.

I/F Forever
Congrats Yosh!!

YOU SORRY FUCKS CAN'T EVEN SAVE YOUR OWN ASSES WHICH IS WHY YOU GUYS DRIVE AROUND WITH A MINIMUM OF TWO CARS ON EVERY STOP YOU DO AND THEN PUT 10 P.O.S DOWN ON THE 1 BAG ARREST REPORT ON THE HYPE THAT YOU LOCK UP. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK IN YOUR OWN MIND.

To the guy who posted about officer stroke in 011: that was the greatest story I've heard in a long time. Thanks. There are so many strokes on this job it's not even funny. The longer you go on the more strokes you find. There's lots of great guys too, but there are lots of strokes. I'm only sorry his wife doesn't know or that you didn't post his name here. I see SCC bashing Hitney (she deserves some bashing) but there are many worse then her, just not as visible.

I do not agree with posting the names of our bretheren officers, even though many of them are strokes. This site is not only viewed by our own but unfortunately by other outside non police types. So posting anyone's name, other than Hitney's because her face was already there, just isn't fair to anyone.

But it was really fucking funny wasn't it??? The Dude Factor....

get 'em off the street and take their wheels.
whats wrong with that?
we all have different missions.
beat : handle jobs and avoid clusters
tac & gang : numbers.
tru : saturate & suppress
sos : part 1's
the polititions ( anyone above segeant ) direct department resorces and are responsible for the missions of above units.
a beat car is a tough place to be....jobs choose you and you are a verry visble target for inspectors and anyone else who wants to fuck with you.
every new bullshit idea thought up by someone insulated by the walls of 35/mich is tried on you...ie. anov all curfews, seat belt roadblocks, etc....
divided and conquered is no way to work....the enemy is all around us!

This department has been divided and conquered since inception.
As long as there are spots to get to just by know someone, there will NEVER be unity. Nobody wants to lose their "spot".

When they took special away and brought it back, would have been a great time to stick together and tell them not without time and a half, but we couldn't get together.

Even at our "peak of unity", what is the largest number of officers to turn out for a march over our contract; what was it a few hundred?

Shit, the Hispanics can't even get together as one group of Hispanics; what is there now M.A.P.A, P.A.P.A., L.A.P.A., H.A.P.A. what a joke. there your unity in a nutshell.

The black officers are always beafing about the lack of representation of FOP.

The Detective Association doesn't give a rats ass about patrol.

We even have two irish bands that don't even get along. What is Emerald Society and Bags and Pipes?

Rant done, thank you for the forum.

I was in a busy district prior to going to TRU and what is funny is the fact that these guys talk about TRU and the one-baggers etc. but I saw more one-baggers and soliciting under lawful business pinches in the ghetto than I do from TRU by a longshot........

Hahaha you think 011 is a fast district????? You must be a 2-3 year wonder cause 011 is one of the slowest districts in the westside. 011 is a former shell of what it was 7-8 years ago, now its a nice slow district still with good bosses.

I've heard of S.U.B., but apparently S.U.L.B. is something only TRU knows about... Maybe that is why they are so elite...

007 has to lead the city in homocides. I know 007 had the first in 2006. About 10 minutes into 2006..I think!

Are you crazy, 011 is still the busiest district on the west side by far, calls for service in the summer are ridiculous, all districts are slower than they used to be but 011 is still nuts, and sub is soliciting unlawful business, its not a TRU pinch its a tac pinch.........

You must be one of the PUSSIES that went down on a stop instead of responding to a 10-1 in your own district 010, on 09-FEB-06... The police involved shooting in 011, a 10-1 was NEVER called, but EVERYONE showed up (from 011). I guess that is because we are "slow", right?

Maybe 7 is up for grabs because of first watch personnel, the Capt and desk crew, seems if your outside unit you will wait all night until they deem it fit for your paper work done. Its also alleged theres some racial bias by the first watch inside help
