Hmmmm

Not that we're going to stay up all night reporting on it, but Claypool just jumped out to a 2,000 vote lead in the latest numbers. Only 18% of the precincts are reporting, so it doesn't mean much, but it's enough to make us wonder.

UPDATE: 2152 hours - Eisendrath concedes to Blago. No surprise there.

UPDATE: 2225 hours - Claypool up by 9,000 votes, but no one is reporting where the votes are being counted from. No idea if these are north, south or west side votes. But 32% of precincts are reporting.

UPDATE: 2309 hours - Claypool maintaining a 12,000 vote lead that he's held for almost an hour now. Still only 34% of precincts reporting.

UPDATE: 2355 hours - Claypool up to an 18,000 vote lead. We're getting ready for our midnight posts and bed, so we guess we'll be surprised along with everyone else in the morning when we read the result.

UPDATE: 0000 hours - here come the lawyers and the Stroger campaign claiming fraud and vote stealing is underway, especially in the black community. Stroger's people ought to know, seeing as how they are part of the greatest source of manufactured votes in modern history. God save us from lawyers and race baiting assholes. Good night readers.

A little political humor for the night:

"Lobbyist and convicted felon Jack Abramoff said he is good friends with indicted Congressman Tom DeLay, and sometimes they sit down and they discuss the Bible together. Apparently they didn't discuss the 'Thou shalt not steal' commandment. Apparently they never got that far." --Jay Leno

"Even President Bush returned $6,000 given to him by that creepy Jack Abramoff guy. But Bush said he hadn't done anything with the money. In fact, it still had the original strings attached." --Jay Leno

Sen. Ted Kennedy is writing a children's book with his dog, from the dog's point of view. Sen. Ted Kennedy has a dog named Splash. Is that the best name for Ted Kennedy's dog? Isn't that like that Jack Abramoff guy naming his dog Bribe?" --Jay Leno

Watch, late into the evening Machine precints will come in. Having King Ritchie, Bill Clinton, and all the Reverends in his corner will pull the election out for Stroger. No doubt this election will be stolen.

It was among the more painful things I have had to do, however, pulling a Democratic ballot appears to have been worth it. F/U stroger and the machine!

Black precincts historically are the last to come in. So Stroger will probably win, not that he'll ever chair a meeting again.

I voted for him twice before, but not this time. This time he should be thinking about retiring and hoping to collect a few retirement checks. But that's not the way it works in Crook County. The committeemen will be selecting the next County Board President soon.

Remember, Cook County is still about eighty-five percent white. If this group of voters use common sense and vote thier pocketbooks Stroger should go down in flames. We'll see....

Claypool is carrying the suburbs handily while Stroger has the advantage in the city. Turnout is going to be the key - did cold weather keep the city turnout lower than the suburbs?

Stroger's corpse will steal it.

The Cook Co. Democratic Central Committee will then choose among their most qualified "REFORM" candidates: John Daley and Leroy Martin.

Off topic, but important.

RE: hampton street sign.
(demonstration 29 MAR)

Per union meeting tonight, by report as well as letter, there will be no vote on the street sign during the 29 MAR meeting at city hall.
Ald. Allen (chair of the committee) has assured the FOP that he will not call the ordinance to the floor for a vote on the 29th, and that any attempt to due so by any other party will be ruled out of order (60 days must pass from the time it was presented to committee for said process, which will be after 28 APR).

I had to stomach for the first time in my life and say democrat when I walked into my polling place. Looks like it was all for nothing. The machine wins again thanks to to suburbs not showing up in big enough numbers.

If I ever see some jagoff complain about his taxes again, I may have to hunt this person down and punch them in the face. U know that whiny clown didn't vote.

When will Americans learn that their vote does count? Politicians only pay attention when voter turnout is high. That is when they know they r on there way out of office.

Embalmers can really do a good job with Stroger. Even though he won, he might do a better job of running shit than when he was half-dead. They could also make him an "animatronic" Stroger, kind of like at Disney World. he could sit there, nod off, look aimlessley around. Whigham could change his batteries every now and then, mop up under his chair...

Chicago/Cook County: where the dead vote, sometimes for candidates who are either almost dead, or almost always corrupt; a model for the nation!

Chicago/Cook County: voter turnout about 26% (give or take); an all time historical record low for an election, meaning.......74% of the electorate either a)doesn't care, or b)realizes that the Daley Dems have institutionalized corruption and incompetence at every political level; maybe political corruption, familial and financial, should be written into the city charter. At least, then, we'd have something to refer to (when the feds come calling)
