OK, Knock of the Ridiculousness (Again)
Out of 114 comments, we deleted 55 in the "Election Day Advice" thread. About half. We're happy that members of the department are learning to use the computer so well. Now if they could just learn what "appropriate commentary" means, we'll be good to go.
Listen. We understand the allure of "anonymous." It's a powerful thing. But this is still a public board, frequented by members of the public, other city departments, members of the media and foreign guests. This is the only impression a lot of them get of the CPD and the juveniles are ... well ... kind of embarrassing. We're sorry you couldn't get laid in Washington. We're sorry you have issues with your genitals. We're sorry Father What's-his-name damaged you beyond repair and caused you to question your ability to satisfy women (or other men), but you are really starting to be a little beyond annoying.
Knock it off. Go start your own blog (they're free you know). Go pollute someone else's atmosphere for a bit. Thanks.

OFF THE EXACT TOPIC BUT STILL PO-LICE RELATED...... As witnessed with the new Captains, the policy of the powers-to-be [at first thought, makes sense] they will now 'over-promote.' Here's the thought process [don't kill the messenger]. As in the past, they 'backwards promoted. For example....say they were short 40 Sergeants. If they actually made forty and broke even, a while later they then made "X" (fill in the blank) Lieutenants. BACK TO SQUARE ONE......Still another shortage of Sgts. For now they sent a group of Captains to school. However, [pay attention here] NOT all of them will be sworn in at once. The needed amount will be actually sworn in, the rest will return to their original unit. Then, given promotions, retirement, death, etc. instead of waiting for a larger need in order to put in a full worthwhile number of Captains in a new school class, they NOW can just select from their pool, or 'on-deck circle' and make, 1, 2, 4 or 5 as needed from the eligible and trained pool instead of waiting years before realizing the need. "I" think it makes sense. [My opinion only.....give us yours] That's what this blog is all about or intended to be anyway. .....STAY SAFE MY BROTHERS AND SISTERS.

Makes some sense for a promotion that there not many of, Captains. When you talk about larger #'s say sgt or detective, does not make much sense. Overhead per say, would not make it cost effective. Okay you next 30 are "on deck" (love the baseball reference), you train them for the 6 weeks and if they are going one for one # 30 might not get the posistion for a year or so. I can barely remember what I ate for dinner yesterday let alone the process of a spar form that they taught me a year ago. Only thing that makes sense is that they know that 5 or so cpt's are pulling the pin w/in the next couple of months.
Some are getting dumped, no 4 year degree.
The reason they are "overpromoting" Captains is that there are approx 6 Captains that have been made exempt recently..
Unfortunately, these new exempt are still getting Captains pay, not the raise. City Hall has not signed off on their promotions, so they are still Captains taking up spots. Since they are only allowed a certain number of Captains by contract, the spots can't be filled.
