Stroger ill - Time for Change?

Media outlets (Channel 2; Channel 5; Channel 7; Sun-Times; Tribune) report Cook County Board President John Stroger suffered a stroke last night. Although vehemently opposed to Stroger's re-election, we wish no specific ill upon the man and wish him a full recovery.

That being said, we'd like to encourage everyone reading today to vote next Tuesday for Stroger's opponent, Forrest Claypool. Yes, he worked for Daley. Yes, he's part of the Machine politics that infects every aspect of County and City politics. BUT, he isn't the status quo, and any change to the established political order is a good thing. Stroger is an old, broken down Machine politician who ought to step aside, particularly in light of the various scandals wracking his administration and the rather large scandal that is set to break any day now regarding the sheriff's training division. We're actually seriously considering taking a democratic ballot just to vote for Claypool. The last time we did that, it was to vote for Glen Poshard over Burris and we came pretty close to being on the winning side that time.
UPDATE: Post corrected for Burris.

Don't worry if Stroger in "incapacitated" or worse. The Dems can always appoint Leroy Martin to replace him.

Claypool's got my vote. Same with Eisendrath over Blagojevich.

Scc, if you think we have it bad now, believe me it can get worse. I was with the Park District years ago when Claypool devastated it.
He isn't the status quo? Think again my friend.

I respect your opinion, but I hope we can do better then Claypool.

To 3/14/2006 11:15:07 PM,

Hi Bill W!!! Sorry to here about St. Michaels House. From now on meetings will be held on Tuesdays after third watch at the Edelwiess Inn on West Irving Park Rd. I took my beir money from my wife's purse as she slept-but I'd never admit that on the Minnesota Multi-Phasic Personality Inventory Test. I had a hard enough time convincing the shrink to hire me after he questioned my responses relative to masturbation. But we were all a bunch of J.O.'S on the tact team anyway. Drink up!!!

Claypool was just doing Daley's bidding at the Park Dist. Makes you wonder what claypool's relationship with daley is now. A vote for Claypool may be a vote for Daley to run the County Board.

If the arrogant megalomaniac were to go to his namesake hospital, he'd be pronounced DOA with a severe case of hangtail.

Provident in 002 is even worse. They may move you to their morgue with a case of halitosis.

Good luck or bad luck? It all depends on how you view County Politics! I think it's time for change and maybe stop all this waste of our money going to free medical care of inmates! The shitbags don't care about there health when there shooting dope or commiting crimes! When was the last time you heard of a criminal robbing someone because he needed his medication? I am REALLY tired of the overspending on the assholes of the community!

Let's see....Stroger lives on the southside close to many hospitals, but not close to County Hospital.

Makes sense to me that he would go to the closest to his house first.

Any of the rocket scientists who lambast him for not going to Stroger hospital first need to ask themself this simple question: What would they have done if they were in the same plight?

I know what I'd do, go to the nearest hospital. Get a life you knuckleheads!

I hope Stroger pulls through and gets a chance to collect some pension checks.

Vote for Claypool!

Stroger is seen with Bobby Rush on campaign literature that has been delivered to African-American wards. In that literature he states that he is for honoring Fred Hampton's memory with a street sign.

Thought you should know.

To those who say Daley will run county i Claypool is elected - Daley has no greater ally than Stroger. Where do you think all the people who can't get jobs with the city because of Shackman go? The county of course.

Daley supports Stroger. He does not support Claypool.

Claypool has associated himself with the likes of Ald.'s Mell and Schulter. Two asses. Schulter is the biggest bullshitter in the world and gives developers in the 47th Ward anything they want as long as they feed his kitty. Anyone lined up with him is not about change trust me.
