Light Blogging Today

At least, lighter than the past few days. Things to do, placed to go, people to see. We'll be in later.

In the meantime, anyone out there think an initiative against "drag racing" is coming soon? One child killed in Gary the other day and another killed between 010 and 011 this morning (Channel 2; Channel 7).

We've always wondered if the "de-emphasis" on traffic enforcement might have led to the upsurge in "impolite" drivers we see day in and day out. Kind of like how the lack of enforcement on moving to the right for emergency vehicles fell by the wayside until a firefighter got killed and the fine jumped up hundreds (or thousands) of dollars. Or how the "no chase" policy on motorcycles opened up a whole new culture of bikers who run at the drop of a hat. Just wondering.

What kind of police-goof would run around Englewood, off-duty, and chase a guy who has a gun.

A little advice to all you new recruits who graduated yesterday: If you see something goind down off-duty call 911!!!!

The days of trying to do the right thing off-duty was killed long ago by the civil suit lawyers and State's Attornys who want to get credit for bringing charges against a police officer.

For your info 4/13/2006 8:41am......It was'nt Englewood first off, it was Gresham.....2nd You do not even know the cop so dont call him a goof you stroke! He was off duty and a MAN WITH A GUN WAS COMING AT HIM what would you do!!!?? Run...hide? no time to call 911( lets see can u wait a second mister bad guy I gotta call 911 on you) No you would have done exactly what he did. The officer is a good P.O. and a great guy so before you lecture people about something and someone you do not know do us all a favor including recruits and keep your mouth shut and quit typing. You sound like the typical P.O. with 4 yrs on, doesnt know what he is talking about, just glides on by with movers/parkers and think the world owes him everything. Oh yeah, by the way....it was deemed a good shooting. Chaulk another one up for the good guys. Thankgod no police hurt. Be safe everyone and always keep your head up.

I took four promotional exams, did well on one and got promoted. I can't complain. I got out of each test what I put into it, meaning in one case only a promotion.

All this "kool aid" shit is cute, but the reality is, a HQ is required in any organization. The problem as I see it is who is working in HQ. People with no hash markS (emphasis on plural) on their forearms have no business in HQ. Many people in HQ have paid their dues and don't deserve to be painted in the same brushstroke as the lackeys.

But when you see someone made merit detective, merit sergeant, merit lieutenant, then made captain you have to ask yourself, what the hell is going on here?

One bite of the merit apple in your career should be the rule, and for Detective only.

But that ain't how it works in the city that "works."

But one could become a Sgt. or Lt. without being a suckhole...and have a better pension.

All I was saying is...instead of whining, study and do well on a test. They can't take that away from you.

I just get tired of negativity, it's depressing.

By the way, I am not a merit Det. thankfully, and have no one elses ass to kiss but my own.

"Unfortunately, I do not think he is going to be the last," said Michael Palladino, president of the Detectives' Endowment AssociationSaturday.

Zadroga died Thursday at his home in Little Egg Harbor, N.J., officials said. Results of an autopsy were pending.

Zadroga had developed black lung disease and mercury on the brain as a result of working at Ground Zero, Palladino said. Palladino said Zadroga had worked up to 16 hours a day the first month after the collapse of the towers.

He developed respiratory problems in the months after the attacks and retired on disability in 2004. Zadroga, a 13-year veteran of the force, had a 4-year-old daughter.

If we were attaked, where is our training, dust masks, gloves, goggles, escape and evacuation routes.

Or as Huberman says,he is keeping the plans secret from the first responder (us).

Strange fruits grow on this tree
People join the Chicago Police Force..........KNOWING.....that it is run by a crooked city administration, from the Mayor's Offices and through ever city department. Our Aldermen are regularly indicted, city monies are constantly diverted to the pockets of the greedy and well connected.......knowing all of this before you took the job, why are you bitching, expecting a fair shake

Because we believed, mistakenly or otherwise, we could actually make a difference--that honor, integrity, excellence and professionalism might prevail.

Does that answer your question?

to: 12:16.. I agree, many of us believed that we could make a difference, aside from the fact that we work under a continuum of city adminstrations that has made its mark as one of the most corrupt in US History. We could have made even more of a difference, and the citizens would have been so much better off, if we weren't working for a corrupt city administration, and a departmental administration infected by cronysim, politics (racial, gender, familial, friendship, etc.), and inexperience. There are many who have expressed an interest in a career in law enforcement; those who are knowledgeable will encourage that, but use their efforts to eliminate CPD as a choice....

May God bless the soul of NYPD Det. James Zagroda, Manhattan South Homicide Task Force.

While many families believed that the illnesses and deaths of NYPD members who assisted in the aftermath of Ground Zero were due to the toxic environment, a medical examiner has directly attributed Det. Zagroda's death to black lung and pulmonary disease caused by inhalation of toxic dust and fumes during the 450 hours he assisted at Ground Zero.

Rest In Peace, Jim.

If this is true, she really is a traitor.

and awarding her would be like awarding the Nazi's.

IF YOU NEVER FORWARDED ANYTHING IN YOUR LIFE FORWARD THIS SO THAT EVERYONE
WILL KNOW!!!!!!.......

She really was a traitor

A TRAITOR IS ABOUT TO BE HONORED
KEEP THIS MOVING ACROSS AMERICA
This is for all the kids born in the 70's who do
not remember, and didn't have to bear the
burden that our fathers, mothers and older
brothers and sisters had to bear.

Jane Fonda is being honored as one of the
"100 Women of the Century."

BY BARBRA WALTERS

Unfortunately, many have forgotten and still
countless others have never known how Ms.
Fonda betrayed not only the idea of our country,
but specific men who served and sacrificed
during Viet Nam

The first part of this is from an F-4E pilot

The pilot's name is Jerry Driscoll, a River Rat.

In 1968, the former Commandant of the USAF
Survival School was a POW in Ho Lo Prison
the "Hanoi Hilton."

Dragged from a stinking cesspit of a cell,
cleaned, fed, and dressed in clean PJ's, he was
ordered to describe for a visiting American
"Peace Activist" the "lenient and humane
treatment" he'd received.

He spat at Ms. Fonda, was clubbed, and was
dragged away.
During the ! subsequent beating, he fell forward
on to the camp Commandant's fee t, which
sent that officer berserk.

In 1978, the Air Force Colonel still suffered from
double vision (which permanently ended his
flying career) from the Commandant's frenzied
application of a wooden baton.

From 1963-65, Col. Larry Carrigan was in the
47FW/DO (F-4E's). He spent 6 years in the
"Hanoi Hilton",,, the first three of which his
family only knew he was "missing in action".
His wife lived on faith that he was still alive.
His group, too, got the cleaned-up, fed and
clothed routine in preparation for a
"peace delegation" visit.
They, however, had time and devised a plan to
get word to the world that they were alive
and still survived. Each man secreted a tinypiece of paper, with his Social
Security Number
on it, in the palm of his hand.

When paraded before Ms. Fonda and a
cameraman, she walked the line, shaking each
man's hand and asking little encouraging
snippets like: "Aren't you sorry you bombed
babies?" and "Are you grateful for the humane
treatment from your benevolent captors?"
Believing this HAD to be an act, they each
palmed her their sliver of paper.
She took them all without missing a beat. At the
end of the line and once the camera stopped
rolling, to the shocked disbelief of the POWs,
she turned to the officer in charge and handed
him all the little pieces of paper.

Three men died from the subsequent beatings.
Colonel Carrigan was al most number four
but he survived, which is the only reason we
know of her actions that day.

I was a civilian economic development advisor
in Vietnam , and was captured by the North
Vietnamese communists in South Vietnam in
1968, and held prisoner for over 5 years.

I spent 27 months in solitary confinement; one
year in a cage in Cambodia; and one year
in a "black box" in Hanoi.
My North Vietnamese captors deliberately
poisoned and murdered a female missionary, a
nurse in a leprosarium in Ban me Thuot, South
Vietnam, whom I buried in the jungle near the
Cambodia border.
At one time, I weighed only about 90 lbs.
(My normal weight is 170 lbs.)

We were Jane Fonda's "war criminals."

When Jane Fonda was in Hanoi, I was asked by
the camp communist political officer if I would
be willing to meet with her.

I said yes, for I wanted to tell her about the real
treatment we POWs received.. and how
different it was from the treatment purported by
the North Vietnamese, and parroted by her as
" humane and lenient."

Because of this, I spent three days on a rocky
floor on my knees, with my arms outstretched
with a large steel weights placed on my hands,
and beaten with a bamboo cane.

I had the opportunity to meet with Jane Fonda
soon after I was released. I asked her
if she would be willing to debate me on TV.
She never did answer me.

These first-hand experiences do not exemplify
someone who should be honored as part
of "100 Years of Great Women."
Lest we forget..." 100 Years of Great Women"
should never include a traitor whose hands are
covered with the blood of so many patriots.

There are few things I have strong visceral
reactions to, but Hanoi Jane's participation in
blatant treason, is one of them.
Please take the time to forward to as many
people as you possibly can.
It will eventually end up on her computer and
she needs to know that we will never forget.

And now, a commcerial break ...

(In the middle of 3510 Michigan, a few Exempts sit outside, feeling bored. Suddenly SCC comes out from behind the tree.)

SCC: Eh, what's up, Exempts?
EXEMPTS: Nothing's up!
SCC: Hey! Let's make some Kool-Aid!

(Contents of Kool-Aid are poured into a pitcher; SCC keeps stirring, unaware of the new clear liquid. then suddenly, a long line of exemots and brass pop up on the sidewalk They come clamoring down to greet SCC, who serve them Kool-Aid.)

EXEMPTS: Everybody digs Kool-Aid!!
UPPER BRASS: Make some Kool-Aid softdrink mix!!
SCC: You can always use another friend!

I don't like Jane Fonda more than I don't like my ex-wife but she didn't take notes from pow's and give them to anybody. However she is an asshole and did protest the war and more or less call us all baby killers. She toured North Vietnam and was buddy buddy with the enemy. Had her picture taken with the NVA on anti aircraft guns. We don't have to tell lies on Janey to make her look bad she's an absolute bitch. She's an offshoot of the liberal pricks that we vote into office. To the guy thats writing about those kids in Iraq...Lay off they are doing the right thing and don't need you to spout their numbers. Haven't you noticed that they don't badmouth their country or the job that they do.
