Bringing back a feature we haven't used in a while. We used to use an Open Thread when we didn't have anything else to type about. We don't have an explanation about why we got out of the habit - maybe it just seems like a lazy way to blog. But a lot of people have been asking for an Open Thread every so often just so they can vent. We'll try to get back into the habit so that people who have information unrelated to the subject at hand have some place to post it. Regular rules apply.

I would like to rant about the FOP. I am really pissed that they won't do anything for our officers on the wall in DC. Do we need a petition? I think Mr. President should spend some of his travel money to do something for our guys!

I have an opinion on the recent postings about SEISER,the AREA 2 GUN TEAM and the AREA 2 FEMALE DETECTIVES. Having several psychology classes under my belt I think SEISER is someone wanting attention. Now with both the AREA 2 GUN TEAM and the AREA 2 FEMALE DETECTIVE postings I believe that SOMEONE is in LOVE with SOMEONE on the AREA 2 GUN TEAM and SOMEONE is in LOVE with SOME FEMALE from the AREA 2 DETECTIVE DIVISION. The postings are just a sign of MISDIRECTED FEELINGS. An example is the schoolboy that has a CRUSH on a girl in his class but is too shy to approach the girl for whatever reason. The boy then MISDIRECTS his feelings by instead of something POSITIVE pulls her ponytail several times thinking SHE'LL LOVE HIM FOR THAT but instead the girl hates having her ponytail pulled and thinks the boy is a CREEP. Bottom line is I think now you know what the bottom line is.

THE REASON WE HAVE GANG/DRUG PROBLEMS

Yesterday I had to call the CPD as a lady was screaming for her life. 2/M, 1/F, right outside the exit doorway (outside the apt. building).
While the police were responding the black male threw the hispanic male off the 2nd floor balconey...about 10 feet high.
The hispanic was so juiced up on drugs, that it took several police SEVERAL times to subdue him. To make it worse, another hispanic comes walking up and starts claiming police brutality, starts dialing someone as he's walking toward the police. He would not get away as they are struggling to subdue the guy, so now as their trying to fight for their lives, there is now another person to the mix.
To make a long story short, we could not find the other man and woman, who most likely reside here since you need keys to get in anywhere.
The CPD were being extra nice to this ASS since he was hurt, yet after the first time he complained about the cuffs hurting him, they removed the cuffs and I promptly see him stagger across traffic-63rd street, police follow him and then he tries to run again, needing several police to subdue him.
Today I spoke to my Landlord. He and his brother (the family owns the property for a very long time ) have repeatedly went in person to the 8th DISTRICT FOR HELP as they own several properties here. They have written down plate numbers of drug dealers when they caught them trying to deal outside one of their properties, etc.
Walked into the 8th, and one man, one woman (think one of their last names is Rodriguez) behind the desk, don't want to help or do any paperwork.
The McAuliffe Family has owned many of the properties for a long time in the Clearing neighborhood. They grew up here like myself and don't want the riff raff in our homes.
CPD Patrick McAuliffe even said that many of the police just don't want to the paperwork over here.

There is a huge amount of propaganda and myths circulating about illegal aliens, particularly illegal Mexican, Salvadorian, Guatemalan and Honduran aliens.
1. Illegal aliens generally do NOT want U.S. citizenship. Americans are very vain thinking that everybody in the world wants to be a U.S. citizen. Mexicans, and other nationalities want to remain citizens of their home countries while obtaining the benefits offered by the United States such as employment, medical care, in-state tuition, government subsidized housing and free education for their offspring. Their main attraction is employment and their loyalty usually remains at home. They want benefits earned and subsidized by middle class Americans. What illegal alien's want are benefits of American residence without paying the price.
2. There are no jobs that Americans won't do. Illegal aliens are doing jobs that Americans can't take and still support their families. Illegal aliens take low wage jobs, live dozens in a single residence home, share expenses and send money to their home country. There are no jobs that Americans won't do for a decent wage.
3. Every person who illegally entered this nation left a home. They are NOT homeless and they are NOT Americans. Some left jobs in their home countries. They come to send money to their real home as evidenced by the more than 20 billion dollars sent out of the country each year by illegal aliens. These illegal aliens knowingly and willfully entered this nation in violation of the law and therefore assumed the risk of detection and deportation. Those who brought their alien children assumed the responsibility and risk on behalf of their children.
4. Illegal aliens are NOT critical to the economy. Illegal aliens constitute less than 5% of the workforce. However, they reduce wages and benefits for lawful U.S. residents.
5. This is NOT an immigrant nation. There are 280 million native-born Americans. While it is true that this nation was settled and founded by immigrants (legal immigrants), it is also true that there is not a nation on this planet that was not settled by immigrants at one time or another.
6. The United States is welcoming to legal immigrants. Illegal aliens are not immigrants by definition. The U.S. accepts more lawful immigrants every year than the rest of the world combined.
7. There is no such thing as the "Hispanic vote." Hispanics are white, brown, black and every shade in between. Hispanics are Republicans, Democrats, Anarchists, Communists, Marxists and Independents. The so-called "Hispanic vote" is a myth. Pandering to illegal aliens to get the Hispanic vote is a dead end.
8. Mexico is NOT a friend of the United States. Since 1848 Mexicans have resented the United States. During World War I Mexico allowed German Spies to operate freely in Mexico to spy on the U.S. During World War II Mexico allowed the Axis powers to spy on the U.S. from Mexico. During the Cold War Mexico allowed spies hostile to the U.S. to operate freely. The attack on the Twin Towers in 2001 was cheered and applauded all across Mexico. Today Mexican school children are taught that the U.S. stole California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas. If you don't believe it, check out some Mexican textbooks written for their school children.
9. Although some illegal aliens enter this country for a better life, there are 6 billion people on this planet At least 1 billion of those live on less than one dollar a day. If wanting a better life is a valid excuse to break the law and sneak into America, then let's allow those one billion to come to America and we'll turn the USA into a Third World nation overnight. Besides, there are 280 million native-born Americans who want a better life. I'll bet Bill Gates and Donald Trump want a better life. When will the USA lifeboat be full? Since when is wanting a better life a good reason to trash another nation?
10. There is a labor shortage in this country. This is a lie. There are hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of American housewives, senior citizens, students, unemployed and underemployed who would gladly take jobs at a decent wage.
11. It is racist to want secure borders. What is racist about wanting secure borders and a secure America? What is racist about not wanting people to sneak into America and steal benefits we have set aside for legal aliens, senior citizens, children and other legal residents? What is it about race that entitles people to violate our laws, steal identities, and take the American Dream without paying the price?
For about four decades American politicians have refused to secure our borders and look after the welfare of middle class Americans. These politicians have been of both parties. A huge debt to American society has resulted. This debt will be satisfied and the interest will be high.
There have already been riots in the streets by illegal aliens and their supporters. There will be more. You, as a politician, have a choice to offend the illegal aliens who have stolen into this country and demanded the rights afforded to U.S. citizens or to offend those of us who are stakeholders in this country. MEXICO CITY (AP) — Mexico's Congress approved a bill Friday decriminalizing possession of small quantities of marijuana, ecstasy, cocaine and even heroin for personal use, prompting U.S. criticism that the measure could harm anti-drug efforts.
The only step remaining was the signature of President Vicente Fox, whose office indicated he would sign the bill, which Mexican officials hope will allow police to focus on large-scale trafficking operations rather than minor drug busts.
"This law gives police and prosecutors better legal tools to combat drug crimes that do so much damage to our youth and children," said Fox's spokesman, Ruben Aguilar

WTF??? This has NOTHING to do w/ race. This has to do with illegal immigration. My great grand parents had to jump thru numerous hoops just to be able to come over here. In my grandfathers eyes, it was such an honor to be a citizen of this nation that he required his family to speak english. "We are Americans so we will speak like Americans", he used proudly proclaim.
Why should people jumping the border be allowed automatic citizenship w/ benefits? How many people from Europe, Asia, etc are trying to come over but cant? This nation was always one of cultural assimilation, however, there needs to be limits! If NOT, than you, me and everybody in the American working middleclass will be forced to support millions of uneducated, improvorished people WHO HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO DESIRE TO EVEN LEARN OUR LANGUAGE, BUT WANT TO BE TREATED EQUALLY??? That is CRAP. I'm tired of supporting people who don't play by the rules and only look to my country as a means to leech off of. I agree with whoever said you are likely to see an exodus of seniority towards 008 3rd watch. There are individual watches in relatively nearby south side district (e.g., 005, 009) that have morale problems due to bad bosses. This should be interesting. I'm guessing that seniority needed to get into 008 3rd watch goes up by 5 years just from this.
The 812 you are talking about haven't worked that car in months. Sounds like all the problems in Garcia ridge didn't magically disappear. Bid to 8 or give up your cushy spot and you can have that car.

The suburb of Scummit provides Garfield Ridge with their gang-bangers, hookers and burglars.... thank you, Scummit! 811 and 812 are pretty much on their own out there to cover roughly half the district. Yes, that's right. From Central to Harlem, I-55 to 65th street encompasses about half the district in just those two beats. But 008 is so undermanned that there's rarely even ONE rapid car up to cover either of these beats if they have an arrest, TVB, extensive paper jobs, or whatever. God forbid they should take a lunch or a personal! Look, if you've got it all figured out on how to make the HUGE west end of 008 all better with just two flippin' cars, then bid in and show everyone how it's done, Einstein.

Actually, the more I think about it I think I'm sensing that you are a beat guy who is too stupid to be tact or gang and is stuck on a beat car with no friends except your partner who is forced to work with your ass. Well, again I have to reitterate that the officers on 812 who keep getting slammed by Einstein were reassigned to the east end of 008 two periods ago. The new guys don't hang out at Signature. They're agressive young dudes who are making arrests and cleaning things up in that corner of the district.

Just a quick note to those of you who worship St. Phil... take a peek in Patrol and see morale worse than in the Hillard years. Phil's dependence on specialized units has marginalized the Patrol function and its people. This is probably due to Phil's total avoidance of the dirt and filth and degradation and death you have to deal with in Patrol. His highly vaunted special forces and high-tech solutions are nothing more than an upgraded version of the old Task force, and not nearly as knowledgeable or effective, at that. St. Phil believes that pods can replace police. How many arrests have the pods been responsible for? What does that break down to in cost of pods to arrests? Blue shirts may not be his cup of tea, but by God, they are still what makes this police department work, and it's a damned shame he's forgotten that little fact, if he ever knew it.
Blue is the foundation of this dept. not enough good can be said about them.

Although I prefer to remain anonymous, I work with those officers on that zone. Yes sometimes we get burned out and take it easy for a while. Sometimes we go out after work and have a few or a few too many. Doesn't everyone.
Bottom line. I go to work and do the job. When shit hits the fan and officers need help, I jump in. When I need help, there is always plenty responding.
I have called for help and got officers from 020 & 024.
To the writer complaining about the police here, get a life, or a new job. I suspect you just got another assignment anyway. Were probable better off now.

Now that you are on the watch, you three are continuing to show how great coppers you are by taking personals and going for lunch whenever the dispatcher calls you for jobs. I will give you this--you don't use the old "unavoidable traffic stop" to get out of a job, you just don't show up.
