Things Seen on the Public Way

From some of our friends over in the 012 District, this lovely front door on a building over in what we think is the "Tri-Taylor" area, right out in public for everyone to see. Does anyone have any idea what a door like this might cost because it looks like someone has way too much money.
Anyone else who has amusing photos that aren't of crime scenes, plane crashes or other such nonsense can fire them over to our e-mail. If interesting enough, we'll post them.

The door itself is definately expensive. Any time anyone has "extra's" on the door its an add-on charge. We're talking a whole body of charges.LOL. The doors width was probably 5 inches and then milled down to 3.5 inches. Lot of work to keep checking on process to get the womens figure but carpenters who know their stuff can do wonders. Unfortunatly the 012 District might have sent the photo in to SCC, but I hear the 012th District is a bunch of lazys where the men walk around with ugly girlfriends just to make the men look good. Should be the other way around, but those 12th District cops are just whoremongers. Very narcistic, think they are very important. Am I right?

Cops hurt in pursuit of suspects

By Jeremy Gorner
Tribune staff reporter
Published May 18, 2006, 7:45 AM CDT

Two Chicago police officers suffered minor injuries this morning while chasing two suspected burglars who later were arrested in the city's Lakeview neighborhood. One of the officers drove his squad car into a brick wall.

The Town Hall District officers were responding to a burglary at Windy City Video, at 3701 N. Halsted St., shortly before 6 a.m., police Officer Kelly Liakopoulos said.

One of the officers was hurt while running after the suspects and falling down. The other officer was injured when he drove his squad car into the wall in the 3700 block of North Halsted Street, Liakopoulos said. Both officers were taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center.

Liakopoulos did not have any details of the arrests, and it was not immediately known whether anything was taken from the video store.

Calls to the video store went unanswered this morning.

Munching on an apple....love to review the SCC blog on lunch time at 35th & Michigan. No jokes please. I'm on the verge of retirement and did work for a living on CPD. I lived on the north side and south side and switched districts at least every three years. Been divorced three times. I think I'm qualified to answer the readers poll. LOL. My vote for 1st place is 23, followed by 12,16 districts. 25 and 18 are next. Stay safe out there new guys. Remember, you got the pistol for a reason. Use it. I got 27 years on the job. I also want to say to all the studs on this job who seem to often want to hug and kiss these female p.o.s. Remember you never know whose dick was on those lips. Could have been your own partners. It happens, studs. These females come on the job for two reasons. to either suck dick or marry a guy. Thats why I'll be single to the day I die. Stay safe.

Heres the way it really is:

7, 11, 15 and 25 are the ONLY districts in the entire that are truly busy. And by "busy" I mean real crimes like homicide, aggravated battery, robbery, burglary, etc. . . on a regular basis, not just dope.

The rest of the districts aren't shit as far as police work goes. Now I know thats a tough pill for you 19 & 23rd District warriors to swallow, but its true.

Are there working coppers in every district? Absolutely. That being said, the majority of the Department's best coppers are collectively in 7, 11, 15 and 25.

So talk all the shit you want about coppers in the above districts. I'd rather have one of them show up on an assist than ten from any other district.

To those that caught my error, you are correct, 010 is very busy and there are alot of great working coppers there.

Now as far as the 005th District goes, I have to disagree. It may be busy at times, but it simply can't compare to the 7th, 10th, 11th, 15th or 25th Districts.

to 025, whats wrong super cop, your neighbor on the third floor slinging some dope ? save your money and buy a place, instead of going drinking every night after work. do you think that everyone that works in 016 has been there forever dumbass ? there are plenty of us who worked in far worse districts than the fightin 025 kid. some officers like certain arrests, not everyone likes the dope game. how many burglars have you caught bigmouth ? real ones, not burg. to auto offenders. true, there are some lazy people in 16, but there are lazy people in every district. most real police have a knack for certain crimes, but can handle any arrest if its there. most of the burglars that get caught in 16 live in 25, its not your fault that you wouldn't know a burglar if he stole your shirt from your back. while you're so busy chasing that one rock, a burglar is worth more money in o.t. and is actually making a difference. one rock head in jail for the night...wow are you helping the community. oh yeah, if you are so good, bid to 16 and show us how its done since we don't have a clue. my god what a dumbfuck you are.

Traditionally, based on homicide rate, as well as other violent crime (UCR Part I: sexual assault, robbery & aggravated battery), NYPD MOS distinguish their seventy-six precinct houses as follows:

"A" house: high

"B" house: medium or average

"C" house: low

Nine of the ten pcts. listed in my 4:53 PM post are considered "A houses". Extrapolating this data and terminology to the CPD, one can say that 011, 002, 015, 007 and 006 would definitely qualify as "A" houses while 001, 016, 017 and the five districts comprising Area 3 are "C" houses.

Using my 4:17 PM post and to avoid getting into a pissing contest, I'll let the reader decide the remaining "A" houses and ALL of the "B" houses based on the unofficial but widely-used NYPD terminology.

Personally, I believe that ALL members of the CPD should spend a significant portion of their career working the streets of an "A" house.

I'm certain that all districts have outstanding police officers as well as "dog-asses". Also, let's not forget that many officers now working in "C" houses "paid their dues" by working "A" houses earlier in their career.

I know this will generate controversey. Notwithstanding, I believe that street experience and/or an extensive history of making Part I felony arrests should be a criteria for promotion, certainly for exempt positions.

How can the working police respect a boss who never paid his/her dues?

to 025 tact: oohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh you are so tough. how would i be able to spot you ? oh yeah, the duty belt, black vest cover, black t-shirt, and the ever popular backwards baseball cap. have you ever just walked down an alley with a radio in your hand and a gun in your pocket to follow a burglar ? my guess by your post is absolutely not. most cops could drive up in an unmarked car and find some dope if they really wanted to. i have found that if you want to chase the one bag for a branch 50 date, fine, but why slam the guys that enjoy quality of life arrests. ie burglary, strong arm robbery, and other crimes that make people feel unsafe. if you get a rush grabbing a guy for a few rocks, think of the feeling you might get after following a hype through the alleys (sans vest and duty belt) and slapping cold cuffs on him as he exits some working persons house with a pillow case full of jewelry. what a rush !!! BUT YOU WOULD HAVE TO TAKE OFF YOUR TACT UNIFORM FIRST. and actually give a shit about the neighborhood and not just the court. have fun in the ghetto chasing perpetual c.b. #'s and i'll have fun getting about 20-30 hours of court time a period making these types of quality of life arrests. oh yeah, if not lucky enough to catch a burglar, i will stoop to a drinker or pisser. you super cops may tolerate that in your super tough guy district, but, if i saw some piss bum pissing in the alley, park, or anywhere else my kids play, i'd be upset if the tact team said that they don't do those arrests. have you ever gotten a letter from a person who was the victim of a burglary that said thank you for your effort ? probably not. but, i'll tell you it feels good. and fyi, i've worked in every district in area 5 with the exception of 017, so your south of belmont theory really sounds stupid. there are bad people everywhere, yes, even in 016. man, you tough guys in 025 are really funny. oh yeah, by the way, those who have to pick on other people for their own amusement are usually doing this because they think it makes their penis look bigger than it really is. be safe all...even those rough and tough 025 tact guys.

why all the animosity in 016 and 025?

5/18/2006 06:45:22 PM

Cause 025 coppers think their shit don't stink, and consider 016 guys somehow "lesser" because they were smart enough to bid out of the ghetto years ago. Oh yeah, and 016 are dogs cause they don't catch every single garage burglar in the District, or something like that.

I think 016 should start writing all the 025 pricks who drive 100mph down Devon/NW HWY/Harlem on their way home, blowing stop lights and signs. Especially start hammering the losers who end up at Teaser's or Lasko's until 4am. THEN maybe they'd have something to beef about.

I've been in 025 for a few years and heard all the bullshit how 016 are dogs. I've called a few times while off duty and had nothing but good experiences so I can't explain the macho shit seen here.

I can only advise all of us in 025 to clean up our own backyard, so to speak before bitching about what guys in other Districts are doing or not doing. Plenty of dogasses in 025, even on the precious tact teams. Just like everywhere.

Shift differential by watch and district based on violent crime.

Why should an officer working days in 016 get the same pay as an officer working nights in 011.

I really don't understand all of this jealousy on this blog. I have work in districts north, south and west. Some were fast and some were not. When we pull over a shithead they don't care if you are from 16, 22, 11, 7,ect. All they see is blue which is what we should also see. In all of the Districts I have worked there were dogs and there were workers. I have found the Biggest dogs work in the busiest districts. It is actually easier to hide in a fast district than a slow one. If you have to brag about what district you work in then you may have a problem

Ok, Here is an idea.

First of all I think a great majority of us think this THIEF does not deserve a benefit.

Second of all, I think many of us like minded types would never sell a ticket, or raise a dime for this THIEF.

Third of all, I think many of us would like to know who does support this THIEF.

THerefore, why don't we identify, we do not need names, the people raising money for this THIEF.

The one I know of was a dude who calls himself "Spider".

Anyone know anyone else supporting this THIEF?

This department hides people in every one of the hundred different units (I have to admit I didn't actually spend the time to count all the fucking bullshit units on this department) on this department. I won't even start about all the bitching dicks and court sergeants who cry if they even have to show up for work.

9:02 is completely right.

What is the point at singling somebody out among the 35 or 40% who actually show up and work the streets? The department hides thousands doing God knows what.

But ooohhh, Joey (who shows up) sometimes avoids a few squeaky wheels (aka 9-1-1 calls) while hiding at Tulsa, or 5812 Central, or whatever! Call em out at work if you are forced to cover calls while they dog, but understand that they are not even 1% of the problem here.

B-b-but, 023 is doggy! No, no, 016 is the poochiest pooches! Huh? 013 woof woof? 010 is pretty boyz!! Hey now, 007 and 011 are all two year wonders! Sheesh pal, TRU don't have no clue!

Let it go guys, the uniforms on the street ain't your problem. Its the incompetent bosses, the hidden thousands, the COMPLETELY FUCKED promotional system, and any of a thousand other things. But it ain't the unconnected uniforms who actually check out radios and ride the streets each day, particularly those assigned to district patrols!

SCC please post something about the new program in which CHA people can now use their rent vouchers to help pay for mortgages to enable them to "begin building personal wealth" according to HUD.

Check out the info on the CHA website or HUD.

First of all my tax dollars should not be spent on others rent but now they are creating and admitting to a program that is meant to build someone else wealth with your money.

When is the middle class going to stop getting fucked with in that we bust our ass to make a living and pay for a home, or try to, and then get rapped with taxes and see the govt spend all this money on others who do not do shit or do the least minimal in order to obtain free money.

I would like to see some numbers on the people who have entered into these programs and used them to build themselves up to the point in which they are no longet accepting the money. I would say the numbers are very low!!

Sorry in advance for mis-spelling, it is late and I am not go to re-read the post

Interesting posts about NYPD/Homicides by crimefile. This shows you what a true shithole this city has become. We are Detroit! You all talk about "the koolaid", but love the mayor's favorite batch.....residency! The coppers in NYC got fed up in living in a city that is only half the hell hole that Chicago has become and they got out (they had residency). But I guess they are all just "suburban pussies". This should be THE issue.

,You guys need to grow up!Most of you two year wonders have a four year college degree, grew up in Norwood park or Burbs, and probably went to private schools your whole childhood life. Now you have a badge and a gun and now your work in a part of the city your parents sheltered you from your whole life,so now you are a tough, smarter, braver, experienced, bigger cock, better looking,etc...than any other officer who you think doesnt work in the shit. The next time I see a 5'-00'' 200lbs. broad that works in the ghetto I will be in awe because she is such a better copper than me because she works the ghetto. The majority of the posts on slow districts come from guys in 025. So I suggest the next time you see a 016 car on the border flag it down and tell them how you really feel about them because they work in 016. In comparing NYC & Chgo. crime stats let's remember that the average NYPD Precinct is about 1.5 sq. miles - half the size of 023 for instance. Chgo.'s average District size is about 5 sq. miles. Basing crime against population is the way to do it and not Precinct against District, and unfortunately, NYPD in the long run is still doing a better job than we are. Of course, they don't play politics with bosses as much. They EVEN have term limits for mayor and their Police Commisioner is on a 5 year contract at a time. What a concept!

Some of you guys are truly disgusting, arguing about who the real Police are based upon the districts that they work in, referring to other coppers as POS's for the stupiest reason, referring to themselves as great coppers based upon where THEY work, being rude and disrespectful to a seasoned veteran who had a long and distinguished career and despite being retired, still cares enough about our Department to come to a site like this, this "I'm first", the koolaid non-sense, the constant ripping of the Area 2 gun team for whatever reason, the posting of blatantly false information, the list goes on and on. Some of you need to grow up. You act like a bunch of jealous insecure little kids in kindergarden. I used to be VERY proud of being a member of the CPD as I have always considered it the finest Police Dept. in the world INSPITE of some of the problems we have to deal with (bosses, promotions etc.), but now, I don't know. I come away from this blog with the idea that the CPD is staffed with nothing more than a bunch of egotistical, self centered, childish, jealous, spoiled little brats. It is disheartening and disgusting. To read some of this shit that is posted here is an excercise in futility and self abusement. I look back at all the GREAT coppers that I've had the honor of working with and I just shake my head in amazement at what this department has become, if I'm to believe that this blog represents who and what we are. Maybe the public and those that don't like or respect us are right. I'm beginning to understand why we are the laughing stock of almost EVERY major or professional or big city Police Department in the world.
Don't worry about the Mayor fucking with us or ruining our job or complain about what he is or is not doing to the Department. We will destruct from within with the attitude and mindset of some of us.
In a few years I will be able to retire. I NEVER EVER thought that I would welcome that day but as each day goes by combined with what I read on this blog, I can't wait to say "I'm outta here". And when that day comes, I very much doubt if I will ever tell ANYBODY again that I'm a retired Chicago Police Officer. Some of you have managed to take what could have been a very useful and informative tool for those of us "in the trenches" and turned it into nothing more than a way to spew your venom because of your insecurities, jealousies, or disappointment with your staus in life or on this job.

To those that are hard working, honorable who know what Police work is all about and strive to do the right thing everyday, I say thank you for allowing me to be one of you. To the rest of you, I'm outta her.

Have you noticed that the seasoned veterens who have worked in numerous districts are not the ones slamming the coppers in districts. It is the short timers who are impressed with themselves that are nocking coppers in other districts. I have been on 23 years and have worked all over the city. Some places were better then others. Usually it was the bosses that made it good or bad the coppers were pretty much the same. Pretty good guys. I worked in 015 under the Sandfish and loved it only because our watch Lts and WC were great. Worked elsewhere when the bosses were ass holes and didnt care for it. My fellow officers were all about the same everywhere I went.

Re: 8:04 I was discussing this blog the other day with some guys at work and they say I am an idiot for reading it every day. They have a point...although many read this site, I would say it is about 300 different people that actually post on here. I read it because it can be informative and funny, most of it is just rumours and bad mouthing others. So keep in mind that 300 people (or whatever number it actually is) do not represent the entire police department (approx. 13,000). I just feel bad for the citizens that find this blog...we must look like a bunch of illiterate, ignorant, racist assholes. Well, actually, that is usually true! I still will keep reading though...some of the goofy stuff on here makes me laugh and makes me temporarily forget how much this job can sometimes suck!

I agree with the last three posters, mostly the 8:04 poster. If you believe some of the bullshit on this site, we do have some real sickos out there.

As far as John Northern goes, he probably has more felony arrests than anybody in the history of the CPD. Yet, some insecure POS comes on claiming he's stupid, crazy, homosexual, a drunk and a thief.

For his consistency in locking up felons, you can't get any better than Northside. I wouldn't be surprised if he's locked up more than 1,000 felons.

It's sad that whenever an officer's name comes up, some mean-spirited anonymous coward will try to smear the guy's reputation with lies.

RE: HOMICIDE RATE COMPARISONS BETWEEN THE CPD (25 Districts) and NYPD (76 Precincts).

The figures I posted are documented through the CPD, NYPD and the 2000 U.S. Census.

According to the 2000 U.S. Census, the populations and area in square miles, respectively are:

NYC 8,008,278 Area 468.9 sq. mi.

CHGO 2,896,016 Area 227.2 sq. mi.

Therefore, the AVERAGE size of NYPD Pcts/CPD Dists. follows:

NYPD (76 Pcts.) 105,372---6.16 sq. mi.

CPD (25 Dists.) 115,841---9.08 sq.

Normally, I put my name on here when I make a comment, but thats usually at three in the morning when I'm getting home and read something that pisses me off. Also I'm usually drunk at the time. Reading this thing today a couple of you geniouses making fun of peoples appearances from the superintendant down to some female copper in 012. I suppose we should all look like greek gods? What the fuck does that have to do with doing the job?
The beat car on the next beat lays down on jobs, instead of putting that on here, why don't you tell them? The one comment that really frosts my ass today is one of you x-generation assholes saying that New York,L.A. and other big city departments think we are a bunch of pussies (
'don't respect cpd" your an idiot.
I don't know Northside, and I don't care if he has made a million pinches on this job, thats his job. (or was), also I don't see him tooting his own horn. I see guy's on here saying that copper (the thief guy) should go to jail, sorry, not your decision. Most of you on here know nothing of a scandle on the job. Go back to the late 70's, early 80's to coppers like Patrick Lawrence where he was writing curfews to young black kids, giving them cocaine and then he would give them a blowjob in the squad car. Yes, in full uniform. Talk about not being able to look citizens in the eye for a while. That kind of shit embarrassed us all.
Bitch about your payday, didn't you know what you were going to make when you excepted this job? You can alway's go back to fairplay and run the cash register to get rid of your stress. When you were coming on this job, the majority of us would have had sex with a barnyard animal just to wear the star, if you don't want or respect it now, then give it back. Believe me the job will stumble on without you.
You guy's that write this stuff, do you ever read what you write? "I work in the busiest fastess most dangerous place on earth and deserve more pay for it" why don't you just condense it and say your dad can beat up everybodies dad. Thats right, you sound like a bunch of kids. Don't like your boss? He's an asshole? I don't give a fuck, this job doesn't have a monoply on asshole bosses, there are good and there are bad (same as Jewel, handy button or ryerson steel). If you can't live with it or find your way to a boss you like then maybe it's time for a career change. As a whole, for the most part we do a decent job. In 1955, robber Richard Carpenter shot and killed Det. William Murphy who attempted to arrest him on the subway platform at Roosevelt Rd.
Carpenter escaped.

Later, in a city-wide manhunt, this cop killer wounded PO Clarence Kerr in the old Biltmore Theater on Division St. when Kerr attempted to arrest him.

Carpenter escaped again to 2040 W. Potomac Ave where he was arrested by officers from the old North Ave. station.

Carpenter was later convicted and executed in the electric chair.

So you state that Frank Pape "choked" because he didn't shoot cop killer Carpenter since "there was no PROFIT in it."

The late and great Frank Pape was not even there, you cowardly piece of shit!

You are so transparent. It makes you feel better about being the miserable loser that you no doubt are by dragging a legendary and deceased police officer's reputation through your slime.

I can gaurantee that Northside is not John Dineen and his email is not CPDFOP7@yahoo.com. How would you know how many arrests he made?

What name did he use? If it was Northside that proves nothing.

11-57

11-52 is right.

I'll say it one more time. John Northern aka Northside answered a couple of my emails at that address. He was very helpful to me on a personal job issue.

I worked in 012. I have to say there are some Canines Americanus on the 3rd watch. Especially the late wagon....1272. Good for nothing deviants. Catch them at White Hen, or GameStop or playing their gameboys in the wagon.
