Burge Report to be Published

Batten down the hatches. We're going to be recognizing a whole boatload of names no doubt. We'll be interested to see if there aren't a few final retirements occurring just before or after this gets published. And what kind of hit is the mayor going to take as he was the State's Attorney while all this allegedly went on.

OFF TOPIC

Many thanks to those keeping pressure on over the immigration issue. Now you get a chance to really bellow.

The U.S. House Leadership announced today the plan to hold several field hearings throughout the country to seek the opinions of the American people on border security and immigration. “We want to make sure, before we send out chairmen into [conference], that they have heard from the American people,” stated Speaker Hastert. These hearings will take place in Washington, D.C. and in districts around the country. Off topic.......I would like to welcome the new watch commander to 1st watch 025th district.

Captain Fagiano...what a piece of shit he is.

stand up roll calls every night, getting cr numbers on coppers even when the arrestee doesnt want to get one.

a former commander from god knows where, demoted to an inspector due to a sexual harrassment beef, now because he is such a wonderful man he has been made a captain

thats what we need on midnights in 025, another piece of shit wearing a white shirt.

Sorry for posting here, but I'm really bored. I keep thinking back to the young rock-n-roller who was bragging about how busy 009 is between 0200-0500. It is 0346 hrs, and I just checked the USM for 009 - a lawn mower fire that was just put out.....and that's it. (No, I don't have anything better to do either - my district is even slower - but damn, brag about something worth bragging about please.)

Does the FOP legal defense policy cover the individuals involved in the Burge case. To me it seems like car insurance if you had it at the time of the incident than the policy should cover you.

To the guy who posted about 009 not being busier than a lawnmower fire-I work TRU and we had a heck of a chase in 009 which ended up in 008. Maybe Midnights wasn't busy, but the 4-12 late cars had a memorable night. Great job to all coppers who responded.

Thanks for maintaining the high standards of 025 bloggers. I feel your pain, having to stand a roll call everyday, not to mention being held accountable for your actions. No wonder 025 is the envy of every unit in the city. What's next, come up from your jobs in a reasonable amount of time? Act like a responsible adult? The horror, the horror, the horroe.

I feel like an eggplant of late.

My successor must be a man of credibility and integrity with an I.Q. at or above room temperature.

I nominate the "venerable" LeRoy "Idi Amin Dada" Martin as the "REFORM" candidate as the next president of the Cook County Board.

Anybody wanna buy a huge chrome bean--cheap?

P.S.: Fitz.

I worked for da Faj (Fagiano) in 020 a few years back. He was a meet ya half way kinda boss then.

I would hope he would still be that way. As for the BS beef he got from that peice of shit white trash thing, well she he is on her way out do to much of her own troubles.

I am in no way an ass kisser and I pretty much dislike everybody but I say it like it is, so you take it from there. Give him a chance to calm the waters, then let us know if he changed. Maybe he is just checking to see whos watching.

Many of us are good at taking but never reciprocate. And for those of you who like to point out misspelled words....BLOW ME WHILE I SHIT.

I worked in 020 with Fag also, a little on the arrogant side. Either way, once an inspector you'll be one, I'm sure he's waiting every night to let everyone know how theyre out of uniform or some other bullshit. That sucks.

SCC...Why no current blog on the two beheaded soldiers-OUR SOLDIERS-for you worthless fucks out there who believe the war is strictly to boost George W's confidence as a miltary tactician! Get a fuckin' clue already and realize the terrorists are HERE and just waiting to destroy the civil liberties which you now take for granted. Don't think an attack is coming? Wise up-see the signs and prepare to kill a terrorist for your Mommy. Back in the day-used to be "Kill a Commie for your Mommy"...Whatever!
You NEED to stay alert out there when dealing with these foreign influences. What? Muslims are not a problem...Have you looked at Bridgeview lately? Don't think they won't kill you just because you are the LAW. They don't respect our laws and Militant Islam will receive absolute pleasure in seeing our demise. So, it starts with two beheadings by the new leader of al Qaeda...If that sits well with you, then disregard this post. However, if you are outraged and give a damn about your freedom-start being proactive while on your Beat, etc. You don't need T.A.R.A. training to develop "street eyes"-you just need to keep alert. Good luck to all Sgt test exam takers. Don't forget the little man when you become management. See ya!

12:25, I searched the list using some suspect names. Also used the keyword "police" and came up with 13 or so hits.

Best one was the mayor's cousin with the note "Wants out of Englewood and into a unit, i.e., narcotics".

Unfortunately, the CPD is a bit more careful with their in-house clout games.

You should all be aware of this case when you start telling a supervisor that you don't want to do something that your supposed to do:

7th Circuit Cases
Civil - First Amendment
Mills v. City of Evansville, Indiana, No. 05-3207 (6/20/06). Appeal, S.D. Indianapolis Div. Aff'd.
Dist. Ct. did not err in granting defendant-city employer's motion for summary judgment in sec. 1983 action alleging that defendant reassigned plaintiff-police sergeant to patrol duty after plaintiff voiced to superiors during work hours concern regarding proposed restructure of police force. Under Garcetti, plaintiff was not protected by First Amendment because she was not speaking "as a citizen" when she voiced her concerns. Moreover, instant lateral transfer was not cognizable retaliatory act since public employers must be able to change assignments in response to employee statements that raise issue as to whether said employee will faithfully abide by decisions ! made by politically accountable managers.

Texas Segment of NAFTA Super Highway Nears Construction

One Country, One Language

Random Thoughts

Bordering on Fraud: Part III

Quietly but systematically, the Bush Administration is advancing the plan to build a huge NAFTA Super Highway, four football-fields-wide, through the heart of the U.S. along Interstate 35, from the Mexican border at Laredo, Tex., to the Canadian border north of Duluth, Minn.

Now it is time to post all the clout-heavy merits who got promoted (some double-promoted on merit), who their "sponsors" are, their previous dists/units of assignments, work and arrest histories, etc.....this is only fair to all those who study for these damn tests and are on the "cusp" so to speak, but don't make it cause the so-called "merits" take the spot. There's got to be a better system to pick merits, other than "who you know". Some merits never arrested a body in their entire career, can't write a complete sentence, dogged it all the way, etc. A fair and fully exposed merit system could work and help boost morale. Also, scale down the merits to 10 or 15%...why 30%?. This should be a bargaining point on our next contract. FULL EXPOSURE on merit promotions. Maybe you'll finally see names on the merit list who actually deserve it.

Same goes for those you make exempt rank, especially those who make rank even before their 10 year mark. What qualifies them to be a commander other than clout and/or what ethnic group they belong to? You see Detective Div commanders who were never a dic and have no clue. One boss didn't even know what "felony review" is. Huh?? Again, let the troops know what qualifiers were met to make the exempt their leader. How well did they do at their previous assignment? How were they rated by their subordinates? It amazes me when you get a crummy boss who can't manage and lead only to be sent somewhere else where they can't manage and lead. If this was published, brass would think twice, troops would be more accepting and be willing to work harder for someone who cares and deserves to be the boss.

35th St. are you reading this???

Good ole Charlie Thomas. In his 4:30 piece on the search warrants in the Dearborn Homes, he interviews an "upstanding" resident decked in rows, asked "did they ever show you a warrant while they searched your apartment?" Mind you this able bodied individual pays less then 80 bucks a month to live in squalor, and is happy to show his face on TV. Instead of attempting to put a positive spin on law enforcement's joint effort to put a major heroin operation out of buisness, he has put that little jab in. Oh yeah, T. Sledge you make all of us men and women in blue real fucking proud.

OFF TOPIC WARNING TO PO's WHO LIVE IN 008. Word is that there are demanding two new rapid beats be manned on all watches in either the 20/30 or 10/30 sectors. However, as some of you may have noticed, it is not uncommon the last few months for the REGULAR RAPID CARS TO BE DOWN, and depending on the watch, beat cars. So watch for the smoke and mirror routine because as the rest of the city, the 008 district is very dangerously understaffed.
