A Serious Post About the Test

You can use this post to ask LEGIT questions about the test and hopefully, someone has looked up the answer or sought out the correct information so we can all see how close we were to what they might be looking for.

Please try to refrain from other stuff here. There are plenty of other posts for you to run amok in. Let's see if we can keep it on subject.

I thought the test was relatively easy, but I spent too much time on that stupid caps map and ended up having to rush through the last couple pages probably forgetting to add stuff that I knew just because I was rushing to finish. I was disappointed in the fact that I guess you had to memorize all the ucr codes because the sex offense case report classification was wrong but I had no clue what the correct number was. Also why wouldn't the proctors give me the copy page of the scantron test?

document in supervisors log, document in major incident log, notify news affairs, notify iad(in conjunction with ops, iad has to strip the po, ops cant), notify po's watch commander, call for e.t.

they dont say if the crack /damage exceeds 6inches which according to municipal code makes it a violation to operate not that its cracked or damaged alone. i added e.t. like i said for the hell of it because i really dont know how the consultants and 'select' command staff are really thinking."hey! a crime was committed.against a squad car of this fine department in this fine city.get a e.t. out there to document this heinous crime!!!"

didn't it say immediate actions to be taken for vehicle damage. I put:
1. attempt to identify offenders by completing a canvas.
2.ensure that the vehicle is secured
3.ensure a officer is assigned to guard vehicle until a tow can be ordered.

the second half said something to the effect of what reports need to be completed for damage.

What about these questions: What you would tell the lady with the kid maybe hanging out with gangbangers? or What would you tell the P.O. after he tells you he's got a drinking problem? Those were some questions that made no sense to be on a test. Is there a G.O./rules that states what you should tell these people? If not then it's all in what you think is right. So how can it be graded right or wrong? Kinda like the 5 questions you ask the 82 year old dementia guy's family. Totally fucked up question.

Does anyone who took either Roberts or Beirstein class think they were well prepared for this test?

I'll agree, test was a joke (as usual) no way in hell you'd be able to get everything right even if you were a house mouse studying for a year. The only way of coming close is.....here ya go study these General Orders wink wink, I really think you need to look over these orders wink wink. Berstein was a good class, but from the questions asked today he did'nt scratch the surface as well I thought he would. Lets be honest, the only way this testing process is gonna be legit is to eliminate this 30% merit crap (although there are alot of people who really do deserve it!) cause the last time I checked the definition of merit doesnt read "see clout". Lawsuit is in order and an overhaul of who's making the tests cause lets be honest, there are some really dumb fuckers out there that score extremely well and its kinda obvious that SOMEONE is telling people what to study. I know it sounds like jealousy to some but lets be fair and whats rht is right. Good luck to everyone and be safe.

You have to do the dispersals in the designated hot-spots. If your district has a Level 2 DOC area, you can do a dispersal ANYWHERE within that Level 2 DOC. If your district is not in the Level 2 DOC, you can only do the dispersals in the designated hot-spots.

I was a student in the CJR group. I have to say that alot of what we covered (which was everything that all candidates were instructed to cover in the Guide that candidates picked up for part 2)was on the exam.
I'm glad I took the class. It was a good investment. The other questions that were not covered in the class were fortunately ones that my additional studying covered. Unfortunately I didn't answer every question correctly. As for your question about John Roberts class - Good class.

All of the comments about clout and merit stuff may be true however there are still officers out here who try and have not become jaded, and whom also have more than 10 years on the job.

We took the test. We are trying to get feedback on THAT. Not racism, scapegoating, or other personal baggage. It seems hypocritical that you cannot respect the non-clout and non-merit officers who are obviously the ones on this post trying to get info on the test material.

If you REALLY are in our corner. Please stop the silly posts.

Anyone know the correct answer to the multiple choice question about the narcotics inventoried in a property bag instead of narc. bag without a case report attached. 1. Keep the dope in origional bag and get a copy of the case to go with it. 2. Call the P.O. at home and have him come back. 3. Have a P.O. on the street re-do it getting a new inventory number. I answered #1 thought it was better to keep the dope in the bag the officer put it in that he and his desk Sgt. signed and not break the chain of evidence.

Anyone know the correct answer to the multiple choice question about the narcotics inventoried in a property bag instead of narc. bag without a case report attached.

2. Call the P.O. at home and have him come back.

Technically that would be the answer, because in the wrong bag, it will never be picked up by ERPS. However, they're not going to call him in and make him come back realistically, they'll wait until his next work day and ask him to fix it then.

And any question on the Hate Crime situations. You'd have to submit an information report to the Civil Rights Section. Otherwise, call the W/C and get approval for a hate crime. PO / SGT cannot make decisions on a hate crime, a W/C does, because a package has to be completed if anything is classified as a hate crime these days.

How about these questions?

What Dept resources do you show the community in the Caps questions?
Did they mean ICAM, CLEAR, reports from the review officer, detective reports, old beat meeting reports etc.

What do u tell the mom who thinks her kid is in the gang? After school programs, Church programs, police explorers etc...

What things do you do to find the old man?

Top 3 thinks you do in the Domestic?
Arrest the offender, medical attention, protect crime scene? Any
other ideas?

What do you tell the cop whos a drunk?
Profeessional Counseling what else?

Did you CR the female who was observed by a witness pistol whipping the burglar? I said yes.

When they asked you about the balanicng test did you apply all the ones stated in the order or only the ones pertinent to the scenario?
Location, reason, speed, traffic, weather etc.

Whats the correct answer for the inventory?

ANSWER BACK WITH YOUR INFO, so we are all ready 5 years from now when I have to take it again>>>>>

Just so you know 5:32 your answer to the hate crime is wrong, the correct answer is a case report ( non-criminal) it goes on a GOCR. Why would you call the W/C for approval the cabbie said he did nothing illegal he just used a racial slur. And the narcotics was to place it in a bag and attach the case report to it not call the copper at home, what if he wasn't home then what? You can't wait for him to come in the next day, what if he is on furlo for 30 days then what? And I don't know if anyone knows this but the multiple choice ?'s were worth 2 points for the best answer, 1 for the next best and zero for the other one.

Landlord evicts tenant. Landlord smacks tenant. What are your next steps?
I forget if this was written answer or multiple guess.
Other than making arest - what?

Test was worded funny. It clearly stated that aside from the reports and notifications, what would you do immediatley?
Do you think they will deduct points for answers that they did not ask for.
For example, If some wrote a list of twenty thing and five were correct and fifteen were simply bullshit, is that counted against the score.
Like " I would ensure the following - render first aid, paint the fence, secure scene, intiate CR, walk the dog...
Some is just silly
If not, why not just write a list of thenty five actions you would take on every situation

Like this-

Notify: If needed -
Lt, W.C., Desk, OEMC,1st deputy, News Affairs, F.D., Gangs, Area Detectives (SVU,HGS,RBT,etc.)C.T.A., C.P.S.,I.A.D., O.P.S.
Board of Ed.,E.T./Crime Lab,Human Services, IDCFS, B & A, M.E.Gun Reg, CCSA, MAIU, Etc,

Some would apply, some wouldn't.
Whatever.
