Things That Make You Go "Hmmm"

  • A man who received a $1.75 million settlement for a 1997 beating at the hands of Chicago Police officers pleaded guilty Friday to selling $100 worth of crack cocaine in DuPage County
So let's get this straight - Mearday gets chased for selling dope in 1997 and allegedly receives a bunch of injuries at the hands of two coppers. No dope was found, three cops got fired and Mearday retained a lawyer. A tactical lieutenant chases Mearday and arrests him mere months later and actually finds dope. Charges are dropped and Mearday is bought off by the City for $1.75 million and moves to the suburbs and into a life of ease.

Now DuPage is catching him selling, of all things, crack cocaine?

Fortunately, DuPage has less of a problem sending dope dealers to jail than Cook County seems to. But isn't it amazing that a jackass like this who was chased 9 years ago for being a dope slinging piece of excrement and managed to parlay his misfortune into a big payday, still can't manage to stay away from the narcotics business? The mind boggles.

The article is pretty funny. The writer describes how Mearday was crying at his sentencing. Boo-f*cking-hoo.

He wasn't crying 'cause he's going to jail. He was crying because part of his probation afterwards is that he GET A JOB!

Hey, $1.75 million doesn't go to far these days.

What a pathetic looser!

What can I say but gotta love DuPage County... Kick a cop during an arrest? go to jail automatic- agg. batt. Serve dope and get cought?....go to the joint. Why can't I have this quality of life? Oh yeah,it's because I live in shitsville. Where asshole punches, kicks, spits at one of us and as long as there are no broken bones...no agg.batt.Just got my tax bill here in Garcia Ridge...boy am I happy. Cant't send the kids to schools here unless I want them to learn the in's and out's of the dope trade/burglary/etc. In over 12 years I realized the most important thing. The longer I stay the more I hate. If only def-comp was as good as they told me in the academy. For Christ's sake let us leave this HELL-HOLE. But no, the union says its' just not possible. Really??? Every other Dept. that is in the surronding area does just that. ( In addition to a 4 or 5 day work week)This place blows thank G-D for only 8 more years.

Where's the money? If he got over a million dollars from the city suit, and we know his lawyer got paid by the city, not Mearday, where's the money? If he had all that dough, why is he selling dope. he should have been, at the very least, financing dope deals. me thinks it is the old stereotype of give them money on Friday and they are broke on Monday.

Ah. The city of Chicago. The "Windy City."

It's really known as The "Spineless City."

Someone, please hit me with your squad car, but not too hard, so I may sue this city. We can split the dough 50/50.

Its an amazing case! It shows u why there's no hope for the ghetto community; now that punk is going to ruin/trash a suburb. And that "3rd" cop that was fired was the 3rd guy on that car and he wasnt even there that day. The city opened up another beef, scratched a red-haired guy off of it, put the 3rd guy on it, sustained it, and fired him.All to show the "ghetto" that they'll f*ck an innocent man to keep'em quiet. Naturally, Donapuke and the FOP had a massive press conference after Mearday's Dupage bust blasting him for the dog/lowfife that he is, and backing all actions of the officers involved!! Yea, right!!!!!!

Being arrested in DuPage means better chance of conviction and jail time. Wonder if he tries another lawsuit. Hope he rots in jail.

when I was a new police officer in the late 1970's
I had been a very young niave kid growing up on the North Side

I was learning things on a daily basis on my new job and among these things was the expression

"you cant shine shit"

These 4 words describe the Mearaday situation very succinctly

be careful out there

in a case like this dope dealer you are talking about could the court fine him money as part of the sentence? They know he got a big payout and has the money.

Maybe Comito and Thiel actually screwed the 3rd guy on the car. But the rest of you keep up the good work, keep beating people, stealing money and dope, violating civil rights, testalying and you too can be without a future.

I never got all the details of the original incident. I knew that Commito and Theil got fired.

But what about the "third guy?"

How could they fuck him if he was RDO?

Just wondering cause I am trying like hell to avoid similar shit happening to me because my pension is just around the corner..CALL ME PARANOID!

This is A PERFECT example of Liberal Chicago, Cook County, Illinois. What they all have in common is the dreaded D plus words DEMOCRATE with ENTRENCHED CONTROL. No balance in any of the above all one way and a guaranteed giveaway policy.

If no balance is elected, we city workers with families who really care may be forced to raise the White Flag and hang out a Vacant sign.

Cudos,DU PAGE COUNTY, for not being a haven for gangbanging punks, dope dealers, police fighters, etc . I'm jealous I can't live there instead of Chicago/Cook County, the place that put the "C" in CORRUPTION, and land of spineless and crooked Politicians and their cronies.. Just do the opposite of Cook County, DuPage County and you will always be sucessful, prosperous, and well run governmentally. Du Page Rocks!!!

Nobody got what they deserved in this case; 3 good coppers got fired and asshole made a bundle of money. Comito and Thiel got fired because of lack of experience and lack of good supervision to help them out of a jam. The 3rd guy got fired for absolutely no reason whatsoever. The reopened one of comito's old CR's and decided somebody needed to go and they nailed the 3rd guy. He didn't get fired because of the Mearday incident, but he did get fired because of it; Mearday caused the other case to be reopened. Nobody should have been fired over Mearday. It was the department bowing to the press and public opinion and not the rational public opinion either; the westside opinion.

One would imagine that one would fight like h#ll if they were jammed on and off day, regardless of what type of time one took.

Can we charge the city a storage fee for any and all documents we have to generate, or receive which are plenty, along with all our possible scribbled personal notes reflecting upon what occurred on any given day. Which may or may not affect our job at some unknown later date.

Even better why would anyone have to succumb to this in the first place.

Bad or faulty record keeping on the part of the city one might gather. If you have never experienced this. Then you have not met the real evil twin called CPD aka Chicago on a drunken vengeance binge with blackouts.

I figure a small storage room about 120.00 a month a total of 1,440.00 annually non-taxed would do the trick. Any takers for contract addition. Keep this in mind this has to be renegotiated every contract as you never know when the city will fall off the wagon by not keeping in touch with Bill. Thereby turning it into your bills. Hiccccccup.... here we go again.

Its called a "Union".. They were suppose to fight for that 3rd guy, and keep fighting until he got his job back. What happened to him could have happened to anyone; were like fish in a barrel, waiting for the next guy to get speared. Say what u want about the ghetto blacks; they close ranks and stick together especially when its against US, no matter how much they hate, murder,& steal from each other!!! We need to take the fight to our direct enemies(the media, coward liberals/politicians etc..)No organization, group, race etc has taken the abuse we have taken.I feel the attack started w/the 1988/9 article by the Trib about all the "cowboys on the CPD".What we lack is a leader(hey Donapuke, u reading this?)

"Comito and Thiel got fired because of lack of experience and lack of good supervision to help them out of a jam."

You forgot to add lack of good judgement. They got fired because they got caught doing the right thing the wrong way. They did not follow through. The only person who is responsible to save your job is you. Not your supervisor, but you. If you do not know what you are doing, you have no business putting your hands on anybody.

Cops for years have done what they did and are still here or retired. Yeah, it is sad what happened to them. Itis terrible to see good cops get the shaft, but, they brought it on themselves and a POS got paid big time.

Hey 6:09,

If I'm not mistaken NOLAN and company were at the helm when M.C.T. got fired.

Sounds like Halinan and Harje are pulling the tried and true democrat tactic of Blame the leader for everything!

Do us a favor and gnaw on your gun barrel.
