Heroes Honored

We'll take good news about this Department where ever we can find it. Especially lately. From the Channel 2 website:
  • (CBS) CHICAGO Fifty police officers received one of the department's highest honors Wednesday when they recognized for acts of heroism.

CBS 2's Jim Williams reports some family members learned for the first time just what these officers had done to receive department commendations.

"A lot of cops don't talk about what they do when they get home, so it's good for the family to see these officers are out there making a difference, making this a better city," said Chicago Police Supt. Phil Cline.
Congratulations to all the heroes. Hopefully, it can heal a few of the black eyes we've been suffering lately.

Give the props where props are due. Intentionally and knowingly going u/c without gun, vest or badge is bravery.

Not foolhardiness. Bravery.

God bless each of the brave ones who do this.

IT'S NO REFLECTION ON THE COPPERS BUT YOU DON'T GET PAID ANYTHING EXTRA FOR THIS BUT IT'S REALLY NOT A WISE CHOICE. MAY GOD TRULY BE WITH THEM.

Let's not forget all the other coppers out there that day to day go about their job proffesionally and skillfully protecting citizens and pinching the bad guys. Never take credit away from a copper who gets an award and never forget the ones who didn't get one and deserve awards for standing tall when everyone and everything is against you. Be proud and make your families proud of you.

WISE CHOICE? To the so called cop who says it isn't a WISE CHOICE to work undercover ,sometimes unarmed.

Using your reasoning it isn't a WISE CHOICE to respond to a 10-1 either. Do the right thing and leave the WISE CHOICES to your fellow desk bunnies.

It just shows what the mentality is of our officers now. Someone working undercover is honored and we have ignorant M/F's spouting off at the mouth saying that kind of work is isn't worth it. That's what's wrong with this department...NO ONE has any PRIDE any more. We are a bunch of pussies...and it make's me sick!

I'll bet a dollar to a donut few of these officers will ever get further than a blue shirt and a beat car. Yet there are merit promotee's that would still be meeting regularly with their parole officers if it were not for their relationship with corrupt bosses, or politicians, who have the ability to shield them from justice. It's terrible for the rest of us to see this nearly everyday.

Wisdom and bravery are not the same thing. None of us is God the Almighty. None of us can say from God's viewpoint whether our life is worth more than the lives of one or more of our fellow man.

But those who take risks to make wrongs right, those are the righteous.

Those who take extra risks, even for pay, in comparison with their coworkers, to make wrongs right? That IS bravery.

Going in without a badge, gun or vest is bravery. Nobody has to do it. There are reasons for any of us to want not to do it. There are those who overcome these reasons and still do it. Those are the brave.

They can stand back and think about it and still make the choice to do it. How in the world is that not brave? It might not be YOUR choice, but its a choice that requires bravery.
