Let Him Die Already

If he wants to be dead this badly, let him die:
  • A top Chicago gangster linked to a bloody gang war is near death after he stabbed himself 20 to 30 times just as police were about to arrest him this week, authorities said.

Cook County prosecutors said Friday that Lamell "Slim" Burns -- a reputed leader in the New Breed gang -- remains in critical condition at Stroger Hospital.

If only we could convince hundreds of other gangbangers to kill themselves once the gig is up and they're looking at multiple years downstate. It would certainly save the taxpayers a pile of money. Perhaps we could even sponsor some additional attempts?

Ever since the shoot out with our guys the other day and even after the threat of killing a cop by the "new breeds" went public, I haven't seen the police presence or 0 tolerance that should be put in play at one of the new breeds hot spots on kedzie and troy - roosevelt to odgen. I did see those tru cars over there all night the other day stopping everything that moved but that was only one day out of five that I worked this past week. What Is up with everybody else out there? We should ALL be sending a msg to the new breeds that we're not going to take any of their bullshit and threats. The streets are ours, not their punk asses. Stay safe!

If the Toddler gets elected then the fellow will probably die in Cermack awaiting treatment.

But then our taxes will go up when his relatives sue and the County settles for a large sum as he was represented by a Democratic lawyer and Judge Burke approves the settlement. The lawyer will then make a large campaign contribution to Alderman Burke, Blago and Stroger to continue the circle.

Vote for Peraica and Topinka.

Off topic SCC. I've prepaired my response to Old Grey Guy on my site.

A brief sample:

"The people of Vietnam posed the exact same threat to America in 1961 (the year the US began its assault on South Vietnam) that the people of Iraq posed to this country in 2003--that is to say none at all. It thereby stands to reason that the US assault on Vietnam and the bordering nations of Indochina was--like the war of aggression in Iraq--unjustified and fundimentally immoral".

Hit the link above for the rest. I look forward to your reaction Old Grey. Stay safe.

Rumor has it that he did so in order to earn another Lifesaving Award.

Vietnam was part of a policy of negating the growth of Communism in a potentionally developing capitalist region. Communism only has cripled growth and prosperity for Vietnam and any other country who went the same route.

Our soldiers/government attempted to bring both deomocatic and capitalist systems to a feudalistic state.

Yes, US had failed and as a result I am glad. Why? because if they would have succeeded Vietnam would have an economy as strong as North Korea and Japan forcing us to compete.

Communists, like yourself, would rather see dogmatic idelogical Marxist governemnts then free elections, growth economies and free trade.

Leave the "Old Grey Guy" alone. He is not only an American soldier but a great American spreading progressive values of democaracy and capitalism throughout the world.

Old grey was right on. Your response is so full of the old, warmed-over, lefty-propoganda bullshit, it's hard to know where to begin.

You obviously belong to the hate America crowd. We liberated Iraq. Our troops were warmly welcomed by cheering Iraqis, many of whom chanted "Bush, Bush, Bush!" You didn't get to see a lot of that because it's not consonant with the New York Times world view. They much prefer giving you stories about Abu Ghraib. Now whether Iraq can maintain its own freedom is largely up to them.

We also would have liberated South Viet Nam, which would now be a free, democratic country, had not the Democrats in Congress taken control and cut off funding. They betrayed our ally, hung that country out to dry. Do you think it became a socialist paradise? Why do you suppose all those boat people risked their lives to escape?

At the time of the Viet Nam war we were engaged in a struggle against a global Marxist movement bent on turning the world into a communist state. The domino effect was a reality. The United States honorably tried to defend South Viet Nam from becoming forcibly communist.

And yes, Old Grey was fighting for American freedom in that war. If you're reading this, Old grey, thanks for your service.

Coldtype, it's funny you defend leftisthebest in his hocum about how few of our congressional leaders served in the military. So what? John Kerry served, and he's the poster boy for American traitors.

To: Reality Check

Subject:The Rule Of Law & Right To Self-determination

1. We haven't the authority to "prevent the spread of communism" or any other form of society another sovereign people decide to organize.

2. Open up a history book. The Vietnamese shook off one colonial master (the French) after 100 years of bloodshed, only to have the US offer itself as a replacement. 2 to 3 million dead Vietamese and 3 destroyed nations of Indochina later...and the US casts itself as the victim.

"Yes, US had failed and as a result I am glad"
- Reality Check

The line that the US "lost" the Vietnam war is a myth. The US failed to meet its maximal goals in Vietnam, i.e, converting the country into a dependent client-state along the lines of the Phillipines.

The US succeeded spectacularly, however, in preventing Vietnam from becoming a dangerous example for other nations of Asia which may have contemplated a path of development independent of the (US controlled) international system. In other words, the Eisenhower/Kennedy/Johnson administrations would not allow Vietnam to become the Cuba of Asia. They succeeded.

This was achieved by utterly destroying the country and denying it access to the capital neccessary to rebuild. In a just world the US would pay massive reparations for the attrocites it brought to bear on the people of Indochina.

"Communists, like yourself, would rather see dogmatic idealogical Marxist governments, than free elections, growth economies, and free trade"
- Reality Check

Had the Eisenhower administration allowed free elections in Vietnam in 1956, as called for in the 1954 Geneva Accords, then the National Liberation Front (NLF)--the overwhelming popular choice--would have swept Diem aside in a landslide. Instead, he undermined them because he and the puppet Diem Regime felt (correctly) that the "wrong" party would prevail. So rather than risk letting the people decide--WE decided. And unleashed a holocaust upon them.

Turn off Fox News. Read a book. Think for yourself. Stay safe.

When "Old Grey Guy," launched into his attack he mentioned me. I never condemned the soldiers who fought in the Viet Nam Conflict. I did not support Kerry's ill-timed, and very poor joke. I also think the "joke" thing is a lie, but I digress.

I simply stated at least he served, unlike almost all of the neo-cons (I hate that term by the way).

Yet like those on the far right Old Grey has to trot out the old "liberals don't support our troops" line. Rubbish. It is an old trick to throw off people from the truth. That being Bush, Hannity, Limbaugh Cheney and all the rest of the goofs, who want to lead us into battle, never served in a hot zone. They'll say, "oh I wanted to go but....." Rubbish.

You state the U.S. could have won the conflict. Let's see...first we put in the Diem brothers and when that did work out we allowed them to be assissinated.

The Communists in South Viet Nam a
global treat? Get real. They were no more a threat to the U.S. government than any other small, third world country.

Finally, why is it when someone like myself or "coldie" question the U.S. government we are labelled as treasonists? The government should be questioned, it is out duty as a citizen.

Good thing yourself or our dear moderator were not around during the Revolutionary War. We'd be living under the Uniuon Jack.

Coldtype, you are a cartoon of the arrogant, condescending, misguided lefty. Read a book? This from a guy who lists Noam Chomsky as a favorite author?

Why don't you try reading something other than lefty propaganda. Read Dr. Tom Dooley'S descriptions of the horrors inflicted on the people of Indochina by the communists long before U.S. involvement in the Viet Nam war. He was a guy with no political ax to grind.

"1. We haven't the authority to "prevent the spread of communism" or any other form of society another sovereign people decide to organize."

Oh, really? You think the South Vietnamese voted to become Communists?

Yes, we indeed did have the authority to stop an idelogy bent on enslaving the world. The commies weren't elected in Easern Europe, either. They impoverished and enslaved a whole continent for half a century.

America failed to create a "client state"? According to who? do you mean a client state like Germany or Japan? France, maybe?

Amazing that you folks never seem to get it.

"Finally, why is it when someone like myself or "coldie" question the U.S. government we are labelled as treasonists? The government should be questioned, it is out duty as a citizen."

This thread is beginning to get mold fuzz on it but the following needs to be said. (Coldtype, by the way, is still waiting for my argument. It must have gone over his head. Does that mean I win?)

I never accused either you or Coldie of treason. I wouldn't call any one a traitor without substantial cause, it's a very serious charge. But John Kerry is a good example of a traitor.

I think GOOD FAITH dissent is crucial for the health the country. However, loyalty is a virtue, an important one. We all owe our country a debt of loyalty, just as we do our families.

A parent who can only disparage, who can never find praise for his own child, is a bad parent, and a citizen who can never find a good thing to say about his own country is a bad citizen.

Nevertheless, being a bad citizen isn't necessarily being a traitor. Noam Chomsky, Coldtype's favorite writer, got rich feeding at the defense department's trough, and now he hates America and never has a good thing to say about it.
But I can't say he's a traitor.

You have to go a step further, like Kerry did. The Vietnamese communists understand this; they've hung his picture in a venerated place.

The difference is GOOD FAITH. You owe your country, as well as your wife and kids, the benefit of the doubt. When you automatically take sides against your own, or subscribe to the most spurious arguments against your own, good faith is nonexistent.

I doubt anyone on this blog seriously believes that it's werong to criticize the government or the administration.

No Doubter, your "argument" hasn't gone over my head--you just haven't presented one.

Once again I based my positions on the historical record. For example:

1. The 1954 Geneva Accords and America's clear violation of them.

2. The history of the French in Indochina.

3. The origins of the NLF and its relation to the masses upon whom it relied to defeat the French and sustain the battle against the US for 21 years. Are you aware that the Communist Party of the North (of whom Ho Chi Minh was their inspiration but not their strategist) and the NLF of the South were two separate, independent organizations?

Only after the US virtually destroyed the NLF via the Phoenix Program of targeted assasinations of key leaders did the North Vietnamese communist step into the void with a (necessarily) harsher program given the conditions upon which America had left the country.

4. The Truman Doctrine which was first fleshed out in perhaps the most important White Paper of the Cold War, NSC-48 (look it up). The chief ideologues of the Truman administration (George Kennan, Dean Acheson, the Dulles brothers) were quite frank in their assessments of the world situation following WWII and the destruction of the industrial powers of Europe and Asia. They moved at once to replace the colonial system--no longer feasible with the major European powers now in ruins--with a system more favorable to US business interests. Thus the Marshall Plan came with strings attached. And movements of independent nationalism within the former colonial regions of Africa, Asia, and Latin America would be tossed into the convienent catch-all called "INTERNATIONAL COMMUNISM" by US leaders for the rubes back home.

At the risk of violating SCC'S Too Long Coldtype (TLC) rule, I'll have to expand on my response at my own site if you wish to continue this debate. Post on one of the threads there for more, including sources and background. Stay safe.
