OJ Special Cancelled; Book Recalled

  • NEW YORK - O.J. Simpson's book and TV special were canceled Monday, an astonishing end to an imaginary confession that had sickened the public as the very worst kind of tabloid sensation.
  • "I and senior management agree with the American public that this was an ill-considered project," said Rupert Murdoch, whose News Corp. owns both Fox Broadcasting and publisher HarperCollins. "We are sorry for any pain that this has caused the families of Ron Goldman and Nicole Brown Simpson
  • HarperCollins spokeswoman Erin Crum said some copies had already been shipped to stores but would be recalled, and all copies would be destroyed.
Of course, we'd be surprised if all the books made it back to the publisher. They're out there and a few boxes of them are going to disappear and show up on E-bay. And Murdoch was facing rebellion within his own company as people like O'Reilly were urging boycotts of their own network advertisers if they bought commercial time for this show.

It's good that a large enough segment of the American public can still be sickened enough to bring crap like this to an end. It's almost heartening.

Can you IMAGINE your spouse being murdered the way she was and then YOU writing a book about how you would have done it? What a piece of shit.

It was scheduled for Monday the 27th. So unless you are living somewhere in the future, the interview never aired.

I am sure that "Left is best", "Coldtype" and "LiL Malcolm" still think that O.J. is innocent.

I'm glad the interview was pulled and won't air. I'm even happier that the book was recalled. To think that the POS would profit from the murders he committed makes me want to vomit.

I hope he burns in hell.

Could it be that the TV show was cancelled because they couldn't find anyone to buy a commercial?

No money--no TV show

What a piece of garbage. The victims family's have to suffer through everything being brought up again not to mention the slime ball trying to make mo money on him taking away their loved ones. Go tru - keep up the good work out there :-)

While he may come across to some as slightly arrogant, Mark Fuhrman was one hell of a detective.

I found Tom Lange and Phil Vannater, LAPD H/R to be unremarkable, even mediocre.

Why does every white person believe that all black folks believe OJ is innocent? It's like saying we believe all of you are racist because of Furman, or the actor from "Seinfeld." We don't hold all of you accountable for the reprehensible actions of a few.
So don't do that to us. I'm sure the poster who uses the byline of
"Malcolm X's little brother" doesn't feel that OJ is innocent.
OJ did what a lot of people with money do when they get caught up...
they make people focus away from their garbage and place it on something else. LAPD was stupid to allow Furman to take the stand.
They were stupid to keep him in the job after that taped interview in which he used the "n" word sveral dozen times. Anybody that stupid who would allow themselves to be RECORDED with so little regard for the reputation of their Dept. has no business on the job, period. While it had nothing to do with his job as an investigator, it was one of several blaring gaffes (i.e., EVIDENCE GATHERING) that, adding up, only made LAPD to appear to be a dept. managed by idiots. Don't blame Cochran or Simpson for LAPD failing to clean up their act. Hell, we've been lucky it's happened here so rarely (remember Ryan Harris, anyone?).

Who'd have been able to read through it anyway? Or have people forgotten about some letter (published in the news after the murders) that had more spelling and grammar errors than something written by a 2nd grader.

While you're cursing him, don't leave out the editors associated with the trash.

Fuhrmans book "Murder in Brentwood" was actually a real good book. He outlines the location and contents of the evidence. That alone should have convicted OJ. Any reasonable person would have serious doubts of innocence when the blood spots inside OJs vehicle were found to be Nicole Brown-Simpsons.

The defense did a job on furhmans creditability.
Det. Furhman have you ever used the word N****R?
Response: NO
next thing you know a few rebuttal witness are called and "If it dont fit you must aquit".

Fuhrman points out in his book that if he would have just said Yes to using the N word it would have shut down OJs defense.

The day the verdict was read the 011th district office staff and desk people were hooting and hollering. You would have thought the Bulls won another chamionships or the CUBs won the world series.

Just goes to show you that with enough money you CAN get away with Murder.

My friend, Juris D summed it all up so well (IMO)...

Regarding the double standards that we deal with everyday in regards to racism:

One of the strongest examples is the use of the "N" word, and how black people have somehow appropriated a license to use the word indiscriminately.

The essence of equality is an equal standard applied to all sides. When one group, in the case many black people, argue that they can use the word, but white people can't, THAT creates an inequality. It says, "WE have the right to do something that you can't because of our historical experience".

Applying that rationale turns Brown v. Board on it's head, and essentially argues that black people should be segregated from white people because of how they are historically situated in American culture. It's more than a double-standard, it's de facto segregation.

I find it difficult to believe that King, and Malcom X, and Abernathy, and the entire Civil Rights movement was intended to have separate rights of culture.

NO ONE should be using the word, but if black people want to argue that they have some cultural right to use it - white people should not be condemned for doing something that a black person can do with impunity.

OJ IS INNOCENT!!! COME ON PEOPLE!!! The glove didnt fit!!! Remember? Sure, there was no real alabi, plenty of motive, lots of blood and stuff all over, even in the bronco that oj sort of fled in (if 5mph is fleeing), but Johnnie Cock ram got it right...it all came down to the glove that didnt fit! Plus, the defense rhymed...if it does not fit, you must acquit! Brilliant defense! I think it was DAN MARINO's ICEATONER glove, planted on oj by the racist detective furman...maan, poor OJ!

Hey, pot...its the kettle here...
why do YOU believe that EVERY white person believes that every black person believes OJ is innocent?

Here, I'll make it a tad more clear... Read slowly... you are generalizing a group that you are accusing of generalizing another group. That makes you as bad as the group you are attacking, but dumber. A better idea...."Hey, Im black, and even I think that OJ did it, so what is going on in society that he is not guilty criminally?" See, that way, you make your point, sound intelligent, and don't charge onto the sad racial battlefield that has become the status quo.

The reason we aren't publishing half your garbage is you are painting everyone from a particular ethnic group with the same color paint. You have a legit beef with OJ, type it and we'll post it. Painting an entire segment of society with the same brush, and we happen to catch it on one of our more efficient housecleanings, it's gone. Sorry. Figure it out.
