Have you seen the new gym at the Academy? I'm glad they found the money for all those plasma screans. It would be nice to see the Department spending that money more constuctively. Also, yesterday while at the Academy I saw several recruits running lap around the building, interior track, they looked like they were about to die. They were only on lap 4. Why/How does this department hire fat fucks?

IT'S TIME FOR US TO GO FOP!

At the local level in regards to contract negotiations and filing grievances; there is not much difference between the PBPA and the FOP.

HOWEVER, many of us feel the FOP is the “organization” that should be leading the Chicago Police Sergeant’s Association. The FOP is the largest nationwide organization with the biggest voice in Washington D.C. and in Springfield when it comes to IMPORTANT issues such as pension and police officers rights. WE NEED TO BE PART OF THE FOP. Do not get confused with the current Chicago Lodge #7 which represents all D-1, D-2 and D-2A members. We do not want to be part of Lodge 7 and it’s members do not want us in #7 understandably. We need to form our own Lodge. With 1300 sergeants we would be the 2nd largest lodge in Illinois.

On a few occasions PBPA state lodge representatives have come to sergeant’s meetings and to put it mildly, these guys are in a cloud when it comes it any issues that they should be working on downstate. They have admitted that they are just fraternal representatives and they have great looking golf shirts with neat PBPA logos on ‘em.

Our 1st issue as of 2007 should be to go FOP – our own lodge.

Next, through changing the bylaws, strengthen the position of president and pay him more money – this will attract a few more competent, smart sergeants willing to run for president and travel to 39th and Ashland everyday to do a good job for all the members.

The FOP represents about 10,500 full working members. President Donahue of Lodge 7 makes ADS/D-7 pay, $140,000+ a year. 5 other FOP elected police officers are allowed by the department to work FULL time at Lodge 7 and they make Captain/D-5 pay, $100,000+ a year. The Sergeant’s Association which represents 1200 members should be allowed by the city to have at least 2 more full time sergeant’s working. (This should be addressed at contract negotiations) Once the mortgage is paid off on the sergeant’s building at 39th and Ashland, the 2 additional sergeants could be paid more money.

With 3 FULL TIME MEMBERS .. they can spend their time fighting and fucking with the city like their supposed to. Give the pricks at headquarters and city hall chest pains etc. so they can die early. I know it sounds cruel, but that’s want GOOD, COMPETENT union officials are supposed to do. After all, the “city” wants to fuck us first ! ! !

On 28 Dec 2006 a homicide occurred in 025th Distict, the job was assigned to FTO Bob, who did his usual great job on the scene and radio. Offender's were later identified, located, and arrested. On the same night beat car does a traffic stop which produces 100 lbs of weed. Search warrant is done on that offenders house guess what 400 lbs more weed in the house.
Nice way to end the year, congrats to you guys and gals.
Remember be careful on new years eve.

The NYPD has just attained full accreditation with the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA).

Under CALEA, personnel qualities like excellence, actual merit, integrity, honor and professionalism would become meaningful.

Will the CPD follow suit? It would require that the job, promotions and assignments actually become somewhat LEGIT. God forbid!

Oh, well...that would seriously compromise "da Chicago Way".

Certainly, da mare, the City Council and top brass will fight tooth and nail to retain the status quo. CALEA reforms are anathema to the most corruptly managed, clout-infested major police department in the nation.

Accreditation is a joke old timer, do some research. Ok, let's just say Lake Forest and the Village of Golf are Accredited, does that make them a better Department with better officers? Doubt it.

Seriously now, Northside, enough with the bitter, "I never made Lieutenant because of a conspiracy against me" stuff, ok? You are retired, live it up and get them for many many years of your pension payments! Stop letting this crap eat you up!!!

A copy has always been sent to OPS, whether a CR was initiated or not. They finally have streamlined the system by eliminating all the other copies that were required to be forwarded.

RESIDENCY! What's the scoop?
I want out of here already
Northside too expensive, Westside too much crime, Southside too much close to the crime, Elgin? Just right.
Nice part of town, 4 bedrooms, 3 full baths, finished basement, attached 2.5 car garage, big lot, more that 15 feet from next door, new construction, $298500
That would be at least 550000 in this corrupt town.

Perhaps YOU need to "do some research" at www.calea.org

Under CALEA accreditation, the CPD would actually be forced to comply with and adhere to professional STANDARDS.

While I'll assume that your post was well-intentioned rather than condescending, you need not concern yourself with me being "bitter" and "letting this crap eat (me) up".

In retirement, God has blessed me with a wonderful and serene life, virtually free of any stressors.

You trivialize my motives for seeking the badly needed reforms within the management of the nation's most politically corrupt big-city police department. Obviously, you are clueless in that these demoralizing problems far transcend any selfish agenda of just one officer. Altruism still exists.

During my career, I've had the honor and privelege of working alongside some of the best and brightest street coppers to ever don the blue.

Both the taxpayers and certainly these police officers are entitled to a CPD free of political corruption.

Kindly refrain from any further speculation as to my motives. You just don't get it. If you care to clarify anything further, I welcome your eMail at cpdfop7@yahoo.com

Happy New Year!

SCC,

Please post this Way-to-Go-Guys for me.

006th District

Man with gun call...several arrested...one sang like a canary.

P.O. Martinez and P.O. Gray take the time to talk to the arrestees and get enough info to bring in, not only the .45 they got that was used earlier that day in an agg. batt., but tac/gang has brought in a trunk load of stuff.
Our Lt. has been telling us to work our arrestees and finally someone did.

Good work, that's that many guns that won't be shooting at us...

Thanks, Northside. You speak for so many of us active police that have had their fill of city corruption. People beleive you because you leave your name. Any fool knows that if I used my name, the brown nosed bosses would find a way to bury me in some dist. 30 miles from home with a huge brick on me.

Keep fighting the good fight. Happy new year, sarge!
