Lieutenant's List?

Type it if you got it.

Question - were any of the Sergeant's who were recently moved from 35th Street on the list so it looks like they were promoted out of the Patrol Division instead of directly from HQ? Inquiring minds want to know - hell, we all want to know!

Not sure if that was the case, however only four of the new lieutenants are out of patrol division.

Only glanced at the list, but it looked like the majority were from units other than districts.

Way to go 020. It seems that the 3rd watchs biggest beefing CR getting duo is now at each others throat.

Michele and Chris...you deserve each other and we hope you both jam each other up. What goes around comes around. You bring a whole new level of disgrace to the job and the district.

HI HONEY!

I don't know about HQ but I'm pretty sure one of the names on the list recently moved to 010 from a unit. I would call that a move to make it look like somebody came from a dist.

1/26/2007 09:53:00 PM

Only 5 from the patrol division...Didn't they take a lt's test geared toward "patrol division field lt or watch commander?" Remember, there are no trick questions!

1/26/2007 09:53:00 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

No ....they are required to work approx. 6 months back in patrol first so that everyone forgets the move.. that means they will definitely be on the next list off the old test or first off the new test!

Typical city bullshit, as much as I like to respect other brothers in blue; I just can’t stand seeing those dogs from 35th street outside roll call turning in their radios after another day of doing shit. Fucking dogs, they are almost as bad as the tru or sos units. I love seeing them around the district riding like a pack of wolfs, getting to your jobs before you and fucking everything up. Got to love this job

With this list, I don't think it is fair to just look at who is from a unit and who is from a district. This test was from 2002 and they needed 2 years as sgt.'s to take it. So at this point they have about 7 years plus in grade. Also 70% of those promoted scored fairly well on the test. I expect that a reasonably intelligent sgt with 7 years plus in his position would be smart enough and experienced enough to know one thing
"GET OUT OF PATROL"
Congrats guys on your bars

Actually, I was wrong. It was a 2001 test My point is still the same

20 Lt.'s at 30 % merit = 6

If 15 off the list were from units, that means at least 9 of them made it on their own and not by merit.

Quit yer bitchin' and study for a frickin' test!

1/27/2007 01:15:00 AM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Hmmmmmmm. Imagine if you quit whining, made a few friends over the years, worked hard, showed some degree of intelligence, and left a favorable impression on a few bosses and co-workers, someone might remember your name when a spot in a unit opened up. Also imagine, that if you had the brains to do all of the above, you might actually be smart enough to do well on a promotional exam.
Even throwing out the 6 meritorious spots, you still have a disproportionate number of people from units.
Just keep coming up with excuses instead of looking in the mirror, much like the ghetto dwellers everyone on this blog likes to feel superior to.

That's the point. Many coppers at 35th eithr have no real training or have been off the street for EVER. Working in the mailroom does not exactly count as policework. Or at the medical, or the security detail, or in personnell, or as a driver, or anything else for that matter...hell, the 2nd District has to handle all of the warrants or arrests that walk into headquarters for god's sake! Yet many of the bosses get promoted from there, go to districts, and....supervise those of us who ARE trained and who have been working the streets for EVER. It's kinda like a doctor's secretary suddenly getting promoted to head surgeon or a ball boy suddenly becomming manager. Not all 35th cops are dogs, not all are underqualified, but it is a simple fact that they are not working policemen, or working sgts in patrol. So how on earth can so many get promoted to lead patrolmen when they never worked patrol? How would you feel if suddenly I, a blue shirt, got promoted as YOUR boss, and started throwing my weight around your office just because I can? I bet you would be a tad ticked...

1/27/2007 01:56:00 AM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

maybe they have run out of people on the lt's list that reviewed the test questions with Mauer as he was making them up...they account for at least the first 3 promoted 3 years ago and who now have even better jobs that they are underqualified but adequately clouted for

To do reverse stings you should have training. Police are needed for crowd control at parades and other events. These is important police functions.

I am sure that they delivery paperwork to your desk with a forklift. But is most of this paperwork really needed, could the department really go paperless, and does most of this paperwork need to be done by sworn, armed secretaries and clerks.

BooHooHoo.
Are you injured? Do you have some sort of major physical handicap? Do you have 25 years on the job and now wanna take it easy for your last years? Because that's who I believe should be working indoors. How about most of us work the streets in this fucked up city 6 days a week. We came on this job not to work behind a desk in some office, but to be cops. I don't care how fucked up we think this Dept is.....the truth is, most of us came on this job to be a cop....not a secretary. We know you guys at 35th and Michigan are working, but expect some level of harrassment for choosing not to be a cop anymore. (with the exception of the above mentioned individuals)

MARINO, from the Academy, good friend of Cline, is a meritorious pick. MAYBE a few months in the streets, posing as a Police officer, and then back to the Academy barracks for more lesson plans. RYLE is a meritorious pick also, dear departed daddy used to work with Cline. God only knows what Districts will be unlucky enough to land those two prize pooches. Klich is NOT a merit selection Lt., he made it on his own. And he wasn't assigned to IAD (to the fool that inferred this), he was assigned to PERSONNEL. And he's actually a decent guy. I also have it on good authority that LEWIS, the lone black female on the list, made it on her score also. Don't know her, haven't heard anything about her (which is probably a PLUS), but she made it on her own. Cut the merit crap about her and Klich, it's bullshit.
STOPPA also earned it on his own, whether you like him or not, he's about to be made a big boss. Deal with it. BARNAS is also a decent guy, been on the job a loooong time, surprised he waited this long to get his bars, but again, he earned them on his own. Don't know them, but I hear JOHNSON and FEGAN (from Area 4)are top shelf. Congrats to both of them (and I'm willing to bet they're BOTH meritorious, but no one who has worked for them would tell you that they didn't deserve it!!). Congrats to all who made the short list. If you've been a good Sgt., continue to do what has worked for you. For the rest of you, we'll see how your ship sails this time around....

Must have been a screw up somewhere. That little butt shaking tart from Clines office did not make the list. Sgt. Biggane was transfered to A/1 Robbery fourteen days before the list came out. Whoever she is servicing nowadays tried to pull a fast one, so she gets put in the D unit. Then it's not a 35th Street merit promotion when the list comes out. Her eyes welled up with tears as she read the order. Made a dash for the phone, then left work early and very angry on Friday.

I'm going to put an end to all this nonsense! Hi, my name is Maureen, I'm a sergeant and I'm gonna make Lieutenant real soon! I know that for a fact because they just moved me out of the Superintendents office to a real unit. That way when I get promoted next week, the order will show that I came from a real unit, not 35th Street! Anyhow, when I make Lieutenant, I'm gonna go to the 008th District and straighten things out!... I live in 008 so I think if I get assigned there, it'll be really close to home for me! When I get there, everbody is just gonna notice how cute I am, and they'll forget about all this negative stuff! Peace and harmony will prevail and Commander JC will be soooooooo happy with me.....!
I love all you guys and gals that go out there and do that police stuff.....I'm sure that it's real exciting! When I come to 008, you can tell me all about police work, but you'll have to tell me in the first couple of weeks cuz I'll be going back to headquarters after that to do some important stuff for one of those guys that always touches my butt in the elevator. I do want to learn some things while I'm in patrol though. What are 1st and 3rd watches? Are they better than Seikos?

The police department is a damned microcosm of the world we are living in period. Stop hating those individuals, lucking enough, heavy enough, or even intelligent enough to make Lt. The last two U.S. Presidents never worked a job worth a damned in their entire lives. Get used to it ladies and gents. Real police work is not appreciated, if you get personal satisfaction and the appreciation of a few peers and citizens, feel blessed. If you are stuck in the fantasy of fairness you are dreaming. Your lives are not defined by how high you go on this JOB. Take the family out and get some real satisfaction.

Well lets look at 020 3rd watch as a whole. You have maybe 2 or 3 bosses that are worth anything if your lucky!

Poopie in = poopie out. 3rd watch Lt's cant make a decision to save their butts.

98% of the coppers there dont even have a tail to put between their legs. Its amazing that the two biggest beefers on that watch are now at each others necks filing CR's on each other. Does this mean the wedding plans are off?

Or is this just another ploy for them to sue the city yet another time. I blame the ass kissing bosses there. I just sit, watch and laugh. Pathetic.

Well said sir. I was blessed when I got this white shirt but I can think of MANY people I've had the honor of working with over the years who retired in a blue one but should have gotten a white one. No matter how high up the ladder one goes he/she should never forget where they came from or where their roots are nor should we measure a man by how many stripes, bars or eagles he wears.

And when and if you are ever thanked by a citizen for what you do, you should consider yourself blessed because it's not going to happen too often. The average citizen will thank EVERYBODY except the guy who really made a difference and that is the POLICEMAN. They will thank the fireman, the mailman, the milkman, the bus driver, the barber, the guy next door, the S/A but rarely the policeman. I don't know why but thats the way it is.

Sadowski is a moron. We had to deal with him as the desk Sergeant in 007. He was a real arrogant idiot that told all of us he was short lived there and would make Lt. soon. I guess he was write. Asswhipe!

For your information Klich was an IAD rat as a patrolman. You either overlook that or are too new on this job to know the important facts about this guy's background. Yes he was in personnel as a Sgt and his job was putting po's in the personnel concerns program. As a supervisor I actually saw much of the paper written by this jerk about po's he psyched.Actually he seemed to take some kind of perverse pleasure in who he screwed over and who he didn't. Most of those he tried to hurt only needed one visit to the shrink to return to duty because Klich had no professional background or education to qualify him for that job. I also remember a po he tried to screw over for an off duty incident when he was a Sgt in 018. As a matter of fact at the 30 day pending separation Police Board hearing the CR complainant Sgt Klich used stated that Klich had lied and she never had picked that po out for what Klich said he did. He also took personal items from that po that night and never inventoried them not to mention he claimed the po was drunk but gave him back his gun and sent him home in his car. Guess that tells you Klich knew the po wasn't drunk. Now have your opinion but do not come on here with wrong info about this guy. All of the above is true and documented and wherever this guy goes trust me from a white shirt who has seen what he is this guy is no friend of the working po.
1/27 8:29pm
Yes Sgt Gaugne is another one at personnel who delights in screwing over working po's. Great guy he beefed on fellow adults for having a beer on a Boy Scout overnight and got the charter pulled for the troop. Nice job Ray you really helped out those kids you goof. Look at the bright side someday these two will retire and then they will just be the little bitter men they truly are.

Congratulations to Eddie Johnson and Pete Fegan, together they're two of the reasons detectives remain at Area Four HGS despite an overwhelming case load, a hostile, militant citizenry, and the occasional outburt or seemingly unreasonable demands from the beloved irrascible commander Steve Peterson. Oh, and if you can find a better boss than Peterson then go there!

1/27/2007 10:50:24 AM

I agree with the fact that Eddie Johnson and Pete Fegan will make excellent Lieutenants, they were two of the best in Area 4, BUT you have to be on crack if you think that the SKULL is a good boss, or even a mediocre boss. Peterson is a MORON and Area 4 will be way better off when he is gone. He is the reason so many good Detectives left Area 4. There has got to be a reason that the SKULL hasn't been promoted like all the previous Commanders of Area 4.

1/29/2007 02:57:00 PM

The SKULL is a great boss. He lets me play with the shotguns and take them out on the street so I can impress the female PO's in 010. Sometimes I even let them touch my shotgun as I stand guard while my detectives run around "detecting stuff" on crime scenes. I also play with the boss's shotgun and polish it clean when we have our private staff meetings. That's why my uncle, err the SKULL gets my vote as the best Comandererr in the universe!!!

It's quite obvious to all of us on the north side districts that there is one particular person who has a personal vendetta against this sgt. Hey R.E. of unit 189 your personal attacks against this sgt. is well known. The north side districts are well aware that you have a personal vendetta against Sgt. D.C. and have threatened to ruin his career.
If is was not for the fact that he has the upmost respect for your mother, he would have nailed you to the wall a few years ago for your threats to his career. You are a very lucky person who has not learned his lesson.

The merit list posted is wrong on at least one guy, could be more. M. Pigott was NOT merit. Smart guy, college degree from Marquette, studied hard for the test. Told anyone who asked him how he did on the test what his number was from day one. After each class was made he knew how many out he was. Don't think he was told he would be a merit Lt that gets made in the fourth class. He was right on the number he always said he was.

Fegan - a frickin drunk, not an indictment in and of itself on this department, but when you add to the fact that he was always willing to pimp out coppers on the watch in his capacity as sgt in 025, he ranks as a true stroke. Sounds like the working remant of A4 dicks made him grow up a bit, but you certainly don't want him doing your paper, ask Comito or Thiel about his "help".

Stoppa, a stand up guy and a sharp copper. Doesn't fit the typical mold of "jagoff, loud mouthed drunk" so he gets knocked a lot from the 025 neanderthals, ya know the guys who liked Fegan. His sister is a great female cop too.

Seufert, a lazy ass, ignorant drunk. Everyone knows he did nothing at 376 and let J.B. handle everything of importance.

Eddie Johnson, class act, stand up copper. Would work for him anywhere and any time.

Marino, academy hack and a weird looking dude. Check him out, just stare at him and he gets creepier by the minute the more you look at him. I think he is a shapeshifting alien.

Hitaris, is a fucking loser. loudmouthed arrognat fat prick. Maybe the "fraternity" he founded at Northeastern Il University can get him the pull he needs to make merit lt.

Zelitsky- the ultimate piece of shit and the craziest bi-polar fuck out on the streets. How many times has his personal car been fucked up? How about the time his locker got saturated in human piss?

Feel free to discuss....

We as a profession here need to get away from needless backstabbing and character assassinations of our fellow officers. It's petty, ugly, and from what I've seen, most of what I've read is largely untrue. I recently was made aware of a post in which someone using my byline blasted a Capt. and Lt. in the 005th Dist. Whoever posted that was not ME. I may have my differences with various cops, but I would never blast them here, under the veil of anonymity. It ain't my style.
For those of you blasting Sgt. D.C. in 019, ease up. The guy is a decent Sgt. If he wants to move up, or be made meritoriously, what's wrong with that? I've only seen one man in my lifetime on this job turn down a promotion, and it was one that he EARNED, and declined. That was his right. But don't look down on those who are ambitious. Last time I checked the bible, it wasn't listed as one of the 7 deadly sins.
We can never expect the public, let alone the Dept. brass to treat us any better than we are willing to treat each other. Oh, and a closing note, SCC....enough of the "beast", "animal" "Joe" and "Duke" references to people of color. It's gotten old, and it's definitely gotten tired. None of us can control what goes on in the thoughts of other cops, but you don't have to allow that element to have any space here. If they won't clean up their act, then you need to clean up YOURS.

Regarding 1969 (D. Connelly), there are more who think he's an idiot than a good guy. Shits himself over minor things - hopefully he's never involved in something major.

Can't comment on Biggane's qualifications for Lt- don't know her well enough. One thing I do know, though, is that she was day off on Friday. So, state your opinion or the facts, but not blatant lies. That's just vicious!

Biggane was at Area 1, at about 2:15 PM on Friday. I saw her. My partner talked to her. She was there. I did not she her reaction to the list. Don't think it was out yet. But she was there. That is a fact.

1/30--10:48,
Sweetie pie Biggane day off group S/S and not time-due or personal day or BFD. Left early because she was upset that she was not on the list FACT. We need more people to lead the department who will break down in tears when not put on a list by merit.

Pigott was off the list but his degree was from Calumet College, not Marquette.

OK 1969. Wasnt 1906 compared to you in a previous post. No way would R.E. do that. Ever think you might not be liked by many. From what I hear, yout teams turnover rate is extremely high. Promotions having very little to do with it.

"Name one positive thing that she has ever done to help a street cop. "

Not that I should dignify this comment........however this particular Sgt. worked 021st district..and I was in patrol working 99....had to answer up a domestic with a knife call....she was the one who responded...we took the offender into custody and she helped with everything including the paperwork.....the small mindedness that the bloggers here exhibit....reminds me of high school cliques...whos out...whos in....blah...blah...blah....you act like total morons on this blog.....one thing I have found to be true.....if you have the time to sit back and bash other coppers...you have way too much time on your hands and not much of a life........grow the fuck up will ya............

to 27Jan07 @10:12 I love it when someone on here says "documented". With what? What kind of documents? Most importantly how are you getting into personnel files. A couple of those incidents you mentioned could only be contained there. I'd love to read one of your case reports, they're probably full of documented information.

Sounds like someone is jealous of Sgt. Biggane. Maybe even rejected by her. Hate to be his partner and all the whinning and complaining all day long. Its a wonder if he is a good copper or someone that hangs out at Starbucks all day.

. . . Too bad Sgt Roscoe didn't make Lt.
1/28/2007 09:50:12 PM
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Roscoe got stripped in the SOS scandel. He couldn't be promotted.
Great guy, caught up in some stupid sh*t.
Marino is a great guy. Wouldn't hurt a fly. He will back you up.

To his bashers:
Too bad you couldn't have made it on your own or on merit!

When offered a spot is any one of you bashers out there going to turn it down?
I didn't think so.
Enough said.

It's clear by your assumption that the partner is a "he" that you are a rug muncher. My guess is that you worked in CAPS your whole career, never were the police, and are a rabid fanatical liberal, and probably a member of LAPA or Mauer's office. Either way, the truth is that she is bad for cops and completely terrible for getting the job done. The "job" meaning getting her boss' promise of getting the gangs, guns and drugs off the streets fulfilled. Filing cabinets, taking notes, getting coffee,--GREAT!!! Police work--no where to be found. Tears upon not being meritoriously promoted--PRICELESS. It's time to get the bad guys, GO TO WORK and go do the job. Quit "whinning". To the poster, you are the problem. Bigane is ajoke as the police.
