The worst part about this job, besides the politics and upper echelon corruption, is the loss of so many brothers and sisters both that I've known and those I haven't. That includes the suicides too. Way too many. The media and even many of the people on this Dept. like Monique Bond, just don't get the bond that builds between those who have been out there and seen and done the things we have done. Dead babies, grandmas beaten near to death by their hype grandsons, stairwells filled with piss and crap, not being able to stand still in an apt. because of the roaches, being called every name in the book while trying to help...

God bless and take care of this officer. Those who know him take care of his family and let them know that 12,000 or so of his brothers and sisters and thinking of them.

Pallidin

To the Officer's Family:

I feel how weak and fruitless must be any words of mine which should attempt to beguile you from the grief of a loss so overwhelming. But I cannot refrain from tendering to you the consolation that may be found in the thanks of the Republic they died to save. I pray that our Heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours, to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the Alter of Freedom.”

Well SCC, looks like NBC 5 reads this blog and doesn't care for our critique of them.

I just watched the 1630 NBC 5 News and NOWHERE did it mention a Chicago Police Officer being gunned down in front of his home.
Not even a blurb.

But they did cover these important stories:

Should smoking in movies be banned?

Should people take power naps?

Look at the new rims at the Auto Show!!

A note to the powers that be at NBC 5, I hope you die slow painful deaths. You truely are pieces of shit!

There is a line
the color of the sky
on a clear afternoon

There is a line
the hue of the ocean
on a bright sunny day

There is a line
the purest shade of a newborn's eyes
awakening for the first time

There is a line
that protects us from harm
in all we do
whether day or night

There is a line
no one can penetrate
no one can alleviate

There is a line
made of those who choose
to follow a calling many do not hear
and still more do not comprehend

They choose to walk
the path of fear, hate, and mistrust
taken by so few
but marked by so many

And when one leaves this line
they leave a legacy
but the line does not break
for the remaining must still protect

There may be emptiness
a loss, or sadness
but never a hole
not in this line

This line that holds
the ghosts of the souls who have gone
and the souls of the ghosts who will be
The Thin Blue Line

Well, I am extremely angry...and sick, as always. There is no rest for the police memroial. Never.

It just seems like we laid Officer Solorio to rest. This morning as I waited for the bus to go to work, I spotted a CPD Officer @ the Orange Line. I couldn't walk into the station quick enough, because he walked towards the train. The look on his face said it all and there was nothing I could ... do.

My heart goes out to his family, and to each and every one of you.

Our police memorial will help in ANY way. God bless all of you.

A MAN IN BLUE

A man of huge stature for one to behold.
But inside this body, was a heart made of gold.

For old folks and children, teenagers too,
He was especially kind... this portrait in blue.

For once they had met him, they'd call him their friend.
In danger and trouble, on him they'd depend.

To protect and to serve, to this duty he was true.
The foe met their match... in this man dressed in blue.

He met with much danger, sorrow and pain,
And many a night would relive it again.

He faced all with courage, but compassion he knew...
Must be a part of a man dressed in blue.

For tho evil as man's deeds may continue to be,
With courage and honor he'll fight valiantly.

With justice for all, he'll strive to the end..
For an oath with his life he's sworn to defend.

His years full of service have taken their toll,
His feet are now weary, his body grows old.

But when Roll Call in Heaven he's called to attend,
Those Legions of Angles, those Guardians of Men...
Will sound the high trumpet and round him descend,
To honor this man who lived to defend.

The Commander on High will of course be there too
To welcome the soul of this man dressed in blue.

Word to the wise, offices out there. I can't speak of all the times over the years I've been on this job that I've been followed home from the ghetto. Watch your mirrors, make turns, change lanes and be aware. Not to mention all the thug gangsta police that work among us and have all our personal information including our home addresses. The more work you do, the more enemies you make on this job.

The person and/or persons that did this cowardly act are going to pay.

Take the cuffs off The boys from SOS so they can help one of their fallen brothers....Jose RIP Godspeed

How about we take the cuffs off all the officers on the department who would love nothing more than to "be the police" in this circumstance, time to take off the kid gloves and stop worrying about offending people, this should also be the catalyst to truly unite the rank and file instead of the usual sos, tru, unit bashing, we are all we have, let's make it happen! god bless the vasquez family.....

To the Vazquez Family,

My heart felt condolences to your family for your loss. Know that I, as well as the rest of our police family, have you in our hearts and prayers during this difficult time. Know that the amount of time that many of us had worked with Jose, he brought nothing but laughter and smiles to us all. He will be missed and never forgotten.

To Jose,
We had a chance to work with one another in 015 and I am proud to have worked with you and to have gotten to know you. You are not only a great police officer, but a great person. I am glad that we got a chance to say "hi" every know and then when you or I would be out in 025 or in 015. I hate knowing that you left us so soon, Jose. I wish you well on your next journey and hope to see you again soon...

God bless his family and I hope they somehow find the stength to get through this. Losing a family member is awful but knowing that fellow officers support the family helps a lot, it helped me and I am very grateful, I only hope I can be as supportive to the family of officer Vasquez. I hope everyone has a chance to stop at the wake and offer condolences, I know how much it means to the family. I will keep officer Vasquez in my nightly prayers along with every officer on this job. God will ensure the murderer is brought to justice one way or another. Stay safe everyone.

Jose played basketball with a bunch of police and fire men. Sometimes guys there get a little fired up but Jose was always a friendly, coolheaded, pleasant guy. Nobody playing could ever say anything bad about him. It was my honor to have known and shared those special times with him. My heart breaks knowing such a special person was taken from us. All of Area 4 and some of 3 are working the case and Area 5 is covering them. As F---ed up as things get sometimes in this department keep the faith we will get em!

Not only were you a co-worker but also a friend in the truest meaning. It is hard for me to accept the fact that you are now gone. For all the times we put ourselves in harms way and yet survived only to laugh about it later makes it that much harder to believe that you were taken away from us the way you were.Perhaps God has bigger plans for you in Heaven than here on earth.I will forever cherish the memories I have of you and will continue with a stronger vengence to do battle against the enemy as we once did in SOS.

R.I.P. Jose Vasquez C.P.D. star .13088
Body: If anyone has seen the news lately an officer was killed on Monday morning. this officer was on my mothers team and is also a man that I have met on unmoors occasions. So if any of you that are reading this are the type to pray, will you please mention him, his family, friends and his team in your prayers. Jose and my mother were part of a elite team or should I say family that patrolled the shity streets of Chicago so we all can sleep a little safer at night when on his way home from a 2nd job his life was taken by a no good for nothing piece of sh%*.

Thank you all for the incredible support and kind words. I just wanted to say Jose IS an exceptional Chicago Police Officer and the BEST partner a guy can ever have. He's been my partner for seven great years. Not one single disagreement, not one argument. He cannot be replaced. He was always ready to get the bad guy. Thats what it was all about. He always had my back. Didnt matter what shitty hood we were in, I always felt safe knowing he was my right hand man. He wasnt just my partner, hes was my guy, my best buddy..I miss him alot. I feel lost w/o him. Dont forget about em. Keep the heat on the animals. Dont let off. GOD BLESS YOU BRO...UR WITH ME FOREVER. O.J.

First of all I would like to say thank you to all the men and women of the finest police department in the world that are out there working hard to catch this killer. Secondly I want to thank say thank you to all those that took the time out of their busy schedules to leave a positive post here in memory of Jose. It has not gone unnoticed and in fact has brought me to tears. Lastly, I want to share with everyone what type of person Jose was. We all have a good friend that we care about and feel extra special about. We all have that one good friend that we know we can count on to be there when we need him and tell our secrets to. We all have a good friend that we brag about and like to share with others. Well for us Jose was that good friend and he was that good friend to many people. And now we have shared him with you. Jose may God bless you and may you rest in eternal peace. I love you brother! W.W.

My sympathy to the Vazquez family, to his partner, to his Sgt and to his team in SOS.

I worked alongside Jose in SOS and he "is" a wonderful person. We yet again lose another good one. May he sleep with the angels for eternity.

I found this little saying that has helped me with grief a few years ago and i think it is apropos.

I wish you "ENOUGH"

I wish you enough sun to keep your attitude bright. I wish you enough rain to appreciate the sun more. I wish you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive. I wish you enough pain so that the smallest joys in life appear much bigger. I wish you enough gain to satisfy your wanting. I wish you enough loss to appreciate all that you possess. I wish you enough "HELLO'S" to get you through the final "GOODBYE".

respectfully from,
