Another Lawsuit Settled

  • Nine years after Chicago Police fired dozens of bullets into a car full of 11 people in the pandemonium after the Bulls won a world championship, the last of the victims settled a lawsuit against the city for $1.75 million.

Anton Brown, who was sitting in the car's open trunk on June 14, 1998, was shot four times and still has a bullet next to his heart and another next to his spine, attorney David Cerda said. Tiffany Crawford, Michael Johnson and Joe Rice, who were on the hood, were all shot twice, he said. Damien Moore, who was sitting in the back seat, was grazed by a bullet.

David Cerda is an ambulance chasing lawyer who specializes in suing the police. If we aren't mistaken, he's also married to Channel 2's Roseanne Tellez. Hmmm. Media, lawyer, government settlements. Any investigative reporters want to expound upon any of this?

UPDATE: Post corrected for Tellez's current assignment at Channel 2

I'm for legislation that if convicted of a crime: you cannot ever sue the police in civil court.

I have always wondered about the suspicious lack of curiosity by Federal Prosecutors and the media, over the city's out of court settlement of law suits. Which firms are settled with most most quickly? What politicians do these firms donate money to? Think of it, what a way to steal public money, launder it and return it to your pals and your own crooked politician pockets. PATRICK FITZGERALD ANSWER YOUR PHONE!!!
All the while you can blame corrupt cops and ambulance chasing lawyers, laughing all the way to the bank.

Can anyone tell me of ONE lawsuit the Corp Counsel has fought?

I mean fought. Not talked and talked and then finally paid out money to some shitbag.

I mean fought and won.

Perhaps people wouldn't be so fast to sue and take out tax dollars if Georgas and her lackeys had a few wins under their belts.

truth be told, the cpd fired into that vehicle as the vehicle was leaving. How are they suppose to fight that. The cpd was wrong all of the shots came into the vehicle from the rear of the vehicle as it was fleeing. The sad part was the other officers on the corner had to run for their life's as the genius baby police, did not care who was in the line of fire, they got lucky a real police officer was not hit because of the stupid ass holes. No excuses they were wrong period.

Off topic (kinda)

The verdicts are suppose to come out for the NYPD officers accussed of illegally firing into a moving car in the near future. If the officers are found innocent, be prepared for riots, shotings, and extreme back lash against us. I have been RDO the last two, but have not heard any warnings about this in roll call, which is completely unacceptable. We all know the tensions that exist right now towards the police (mostly flammed by our extremely liberal media), this could be the spark used to ignite violence against the police. Stay informed on this issue and be careful.

For the best vest covers, custom made and reasonably priced, go to J & G Uniform, about 5959 (?) West Irving Park Road. They make the stuff right on the premises. Be sure to bring in your Kevlar inserts and know what kind of pockets your want.

They also do a great job on blouses, jackets and uniforms of all kinds. I was in there a couple of years ago and had to stiffle my laughing. Their Polish seamstresses were tending a group of Rabbis buying robes on one side of the place and on the other side was a bunch from The Fruit of Islam.

What ever you do don't go to Nates.

The son dropped his suit. and the baby mama, who allegedly was illegally searched, lost her suit. Lots of O.T for the po., but way too much stress all for a bunch of b.s.

P.S. to the posting about the vest cover. When you get a new cover, especially if it is white or shirt (French) blue, spray it with Scothguard. It will clean up a lot better that way, then every second or third wash, give it another spray, more heavily arount the neck area.

While you got me started, another story from sad experience. When you take in your winter gear to the dry cleaners, uniformn or not, seperate the garment into it's parts, outer shell, liners and collar and list each one on the cleaning ticket. Years ago, I took in my winter jacket in one piece. When I got it back, it hung in the closet for eight or nine months. I took the jacket out, wore it, then a month later went to put in the liner and guess what, they had given me someone else's liner. To top it off, the cleaners went out of business. PISSED OFF! My fingers were clenched as I had to part with part of my uniform check to buy a new jacket.

How soon we forget..

The Law Department took the ATF agent's case to trial versus Medzianowski and Risley. The City lost big-time!

But then when you have scum like Medzianowski and a big-boss like Risley testifying, perjurying themselves and failing to provide evidence when requested the City will always loss.

The City should ask Fitzgerald to indict Risley for perjury and demand that he pay the 9.5 million dollar judgement.

This is money that could of been used for our pay and benefits.

I have been sued four times in 12 years. City settled one for $6000 (they called it nuisance money). However, Corp Counsel fought the other three, and after depositions, won the lawsuits on directed findings. If you don't know what directed findings are, then don't bitch about Corp Counsel. I don't see too many fellow coppers real eager to risk punitive damages so they can go to trial. The only coppers bitchin about settlements are most likely the ones who have never been sued.

To: "Hey Punk, Be advised This was a private Law firm that has represented the city in this lawsuit and have been billing hours for the last five years"... When you were sued, and I'm assuming you were because you seem so knowledgeable about the process, did you beg the Corp Counsel or private lawyers to fight your case to the end? Did you tell them let's put my house, my savings and my family's welfare on the line because I'm right and Joe Shitbird is wrong. I mean, if you feel so strongly about it, you should hire your own lawyer and fight your cases. You have that right. Then come on the blog and tell us how successful you were and we can all have a laugh at what an uninformed moron you really are. Don't call someone a punk when you are just a whiny little bitch.
