CFD Provides Respite

In a welcome break from the media's on going CPD bashing, a CFD official is accused of stepping on his johnson (Channel 7 also covers) :
  • A high-ranking Chicago Fire Department official vehemently denied allegations Thursday that he disgraced the department by inquiring about the race of a paramedic who asked to leave work to visit his child in a hospital.

"I'm a highly decorated chief. This whole allegation is nothing but lies. It's deplorable," said Donald W. Walsh, an assistant deputy chief paramedic and a winner of an International Association of Fire Chiefs award. "I have always treated department members, citizens and the public with respect and dignity."

It will be interesting to see this full story come out. We don't doubt there could be some stretching of the truth as certain elements of the CFD have been known to sit on incriminating video for years and years until such time as a political firestorm might benefit someone else somewhere. And unfortunately, this respite is only temporary as we will shortly be making headlines when the last of the SOS indictments are unsealed.

I have noticed something that I think are grammatical errors on some posts. "Should of". i.e -

"Cline should of kept his mouth shut".

Shouldn't it be "Cline should have kept his mouth shut"? As in "should've"? Instead of "should of", what about "should have", or "should've"?

I have nothing better to do at this time...

It is possible that the paramedic concocted the story because he was denied and accomidation, by his European boss in order to extract revenge

I just found out that not all racsists have white skin

That paramedic has more balls than most of the whiny, snivilling crybabies who regularly post here. Orozco already condemned him by calling his conduct a disgrace- guilty until proven innocent. What does this guy do? He goes on the OFFENSE. He takes to the air waves and vigorously and angrly denies everything. Not just in one interview, but a few- to any camera who will put his mug on tv.

You guys just hide under a rock hoping some or any phone call will get through to get you out of the jam you brought on your self. I guess you never heard of the term personal responsibility. There are consequences to stupid behavior and if you are a real man you suffer the consequences and move on.

Oh, and as to that Jefferson Tap incident? Another bunch of reallllllll men! To stupid to take it out side like you are supposed to do! I guess they do not teach you in the academy anymore, or you were in the can playing with your self during class, that you never ever do anything in a licensed premise.

That license is worth more than your pitiful hide. The holder will do or say anything to keep it- even sell you down the river with a lie if neccessary.

What Supt. Phil Cline meant when he stated that he wanted to take a bat to the officer who beat the female bartender was:

It is a well known Polish tradition to tap a person three times on the head with a live (animal) bat (not a baseball bat) for luck and intelligence. Then place a perogi on each of his nipples (Cheese and Potato stuffed) for health and happiness.

Our Supt. was just trying to help the poor copper out.

Sincerely,

The Chicago Police Spokesperson
Monique

There will be NO MORE SOS indictments. The Mayor and Cline don't want more headlines. Each of the stripped officers and supervisors, not the one who retired already, will be told, if you resign and not try to fight to get your job back, you will not be charged. TAKE IT TO THE BANK! The Sneed article was bad information.

The fire department seems to go through the same shit from time to time. Chicago just can't leave this race card bullshit alone.
This guy has served his city. If something as small as a comment puts him in the hot seat, shame on the department for over reacting. If he didn't say anything and as he claims, its all a lie, then shame on whoever started the rumor.
The way I see it, If there is evidence of this, put it out there or shut the fuck up!

Leave Cline alone!
If he goes, then I loose my spot and Im back to a district on the watch. I don't even know how to work a PDT. I'll be lost.
Not to mention the uniform configuration is what?
Baseball hat with what pants?
Black vest cover inside, outside, over shirt?
What winter coat is authorized now?
Black pumps or blue when conducting crowd control at the parade?
Is there still a money drawer in the W/C office for time due?
O Shit! I have no time on the books left since I dont do court or holidays.

I don't think this guy would be stupid enough to say that. Somebody doesn't like this guy and wants him gone. As a previous poster said "not all racists have white skin."

The story is the paramedic called his Field Officer (Equivalant to a FD Batt. Chief or your Sergeants) to ask permission to go to the hospital because his daughter was sexually assaulted by a family member. Field Officer called ADCP Walsh, and that is when the "reported" conversation took place. Not recorded conversation, but the Field Officer reported this by writing a Form 2 (CPD Translation..To-From) in regards to the conversation. Understand, both gentlemen have a history of shit stirring. Anyone in 8, ask the guys at Engine 34's firehouse on 47th st. and ask them about the "watermelon incident". The same Field Officer was stirring the pot here too. Kudos for Don to get on TV that night for damage control..brilliant!! Bet the farm, he's cleared...

What kills me about this is that it appears, even according to the allegation, that this was done over the phone. Correct me if I'm wrong, please!

But if so, it would I think be illegal to have recorded the conversation. So let's assume it wasn't recorded, or else the underling is already on the line for, I believe, a felony.

Which leaves us with an unrecorded telephone conversation, and now the word of a senior versus the word of an underling. On that alone the CFD is hanging this guy out to dry?

For all I know the guy said it. But if he denies it, and there were only two people on the call, how in the world does this justify the publicizing of the allegation or the suspension of the alleged "offender"?

See what I'm getting at? This would be like one of us making an allegation that Cline called us at work and said something similar, and then Cline being suspended. Or Daley for that matter. Yeah, uncle Richie called me and used a bunch of racial language.

People simply don't get suspended, or indicted, or anything else for this. Whatever is going on here, the alleged offender's treatment is wholly unjustified up until now.

So is there more to the allegation and potential evidence, or am I right?

Basically, whatever is happening here, its political and likely a personal vendetta. Suspending the guy for this sort of allegation is unjustified on its face, so far, as was publicizing the allegations.

Slightly Off Topic SCC, But,

Many of our police W/C's have denied people time off for various similar reasons (low activity, etc.). Let's hear from the troops out there about denied time due?

What Supt. Phil Cline meant when he stated that he wanted to take a bat to the officer who beat the female bartender was:

Why to lead by example Supe!

Show the world that ALL Chicago Police are not violent vicious people...

Typical mental midget capacity of this Dept: Say no to violence! Say no to beatings! Your peace cannot be breached! Show restaint!

And then OUR Supe says on radio, he wants to beat a guy with a baseball bat!!

To 3/31/2007 08:21:00A.M.

You may very well be right about the SOS scandal. This along with everything else is a major embarasment for the CPD and correspondingly the mayor. Also remenber this is a local thing, and the feds are not involved, which makes it a lot easier to kill. Plus, there have been other scandals in the past that the department has killed because it was gettting too hot, or too many people were involved, or the trail was leading to someone connected, high up, or important.

I personally know Don Walsh. When I was a waitress, he was very kind to me. He always treated me with dignity and respect, and he's a great tipper. We remained friends when I got hired and are still friends to this day. I HIGHLY doubt he did this because he is not stupid, he's high-ranking, and he knows how to play the game. Even if he did do this, it's not going to change my opinion of him because we have ALL said or done something we wish we hadn't afterwards. If this happened, he obviously trusted the person he was speaking to on the phone, and the guy stabbed him in the back for reasons unknown to us. Fuck that guy, not Don! Just another rat. Just another asshole out to create havoc and chaos because no one's paying attention to him. Be happy in the fact that the remainder of this guy's career is ruined. We gotta work together, but they gotta live together! We got 'em here to boys. Let this be a lesson to each of us-you can't trust anyone, especially on the phone.

I can't believe that nobody has mentioned that CFD spokesman Larry Langford is having a problem of his own.....namely his son who works at the UIC medical center. Seems the young Langford likes to get ahold of patients personal information and use it for his own gains. Heard that atleast 10 people so far have been victimized.
Why isn't the media reporting any of this? Professional courtesy? They'd hang any of us out to dry but apparently not good ole Larry.

This is complete bullshit. The saddest part of this isn't the story itself, the fact that his so called friend the commissioner hung him out to dry, or the fact that his carreer will always carry this stigma of racism. It is in the fact that even if it is proven to be complete and utter bullshit. Even if they were to prove that this is a blatant lie. Even if it were recorded and there was hard evidence to prove that the complainant was lying....They wouldn't touch him. The city that works. They refuse to discipline employees that make allegations of racial/sexual harrassment even when it is PROVEN wrong. That is the biggest crock of shit with this city.

THANK YOU CFD!!!!!

While I readily accept OUR 'brotherhood' as First Responders, we trade positions on taking the heat, being in the fire.

Thanks for taking 'some' of the heat from us on the Abatte and Jefferson MEDIA fiascos.

In the event the media continues to hound the CPD....do you guys mind throwing another 'kegger party' and once again, transferring culpability.
Yes, we're all brothers in blue. They give us heat...WE can take it.

Keep smiling and continue to back up our BROTHER CPD/CFD members.
