Fighting Back Part II

We get fan mail every so often from civilians. What follows is a typical such letter:
  • Thank you for providing the missing other side of the story! Something hasn't smelled right about all this finger pointing at the Grand District captain, and unlike Mr. Abbate's behavior truly being inexcusable, my feeling as an average citizen has been that not all the facts are being reported. There are no cops in my family, but one of my most meaningful experiences as part of a civic leadership program was spending an entire shift with a cop on patrol; seems to me that sitting in a squad car when pulling over a van with tinted windows ought to be a prerequisite for any reporter who covers the police.
We'll leave out his name, home address, business address, work numbers, his HOME telephone number and CELL phone number that he was open and honest enough to provide. We do have some fans out there boys and girls - just because the media chooses to spotlight everyone with an axe to grind doesn't mean we don't have our supporters. Few and far between they may be, but they are supporters none the less.

On Wednesday while returning to my squad car I heard a car horn blowing.
I turned around and a young woman said to me from her open car window,
not everyone hates you.
I think you guys are great!
She then drove off.

If the new "cooperation" between the State's Attorney, and the CPD are going to result in more stripped P.O.'S due to force complaints, than stop working. Police work requires the use of force. And it is not done in a vacum, it is done in fractions of a second. So take the time you need to decide not to do work. Handle your jobs...
That's all folks.
Why place yourselef in a position where your going to have to use force, and than leave it up to a State's Attorney to decide weather or not to should be locked up, for doing Police Work.

The letter hit the nail on the head. Thank you for those kind words.
Walk a day in someone elses shoes. How many of those with their high and mighty opinions could walk a day in the shoes of a Police Officer? How many could see what we see, deal with what we deal with, on top of all the political interference. Working for "bosses" who can't run their own households let alone an entire department or even district. The only way the police can be perfect is to be robots.

To Mr Citizen, Thank You. Contrary to what the news says, most of us were abhorred by what he did. However, the piling on is ridiculous. The media have an agenda and no longer report but sensationalize, especially when we are not allowed to say anything thereby making it onesided. I lived elsewhere prior to coming on the job and found the reporting much more professional. they are nothing but the Enquirer.

Yet if the yuppies arent in control they cry whine and bitch. Poor fuckin yuppies became victims of their own demise. Next time keep your fuckin mouths shut. I say the fuckin yuppies got what they deserved, just as the media stated when the Baseball players beat the shit out of those guys for attacking the ump????

Tell me .... whats the difference. I say to fuckin bad. If you cant handle your mouth, then accept getting your asses handed to you.

You liberal assholes make me sick. Try doing a ride along in a fast district. You will shit your pants before coffee time is over.

When I go to work, I see officers who are genuinely trying to do the best they can.
Some are college educated, some not, but one thing they do have in common is the “call”.
Most, if not 99 percent of officers go to work each day because of an inner calling, a calling that the average person wouldn’t understand. A calling to help someone who just got trashed by their scum of a boyfriend, who has a rap sheet longer than most novels.
You see a real policeman isn’t in it for the glory, there is none. Most people stopped liking us after the 68 convention. That was the time of Aquarius when confronting authority became the norm.

We need to go back to the basics of police work. Yes, my experience has found that most beat officers know where the crime areas are and who the criminals are as well. Save the daily missions for the so called elite units. The commander of a district was someone you never saw. He was all powerful. He relied on his watch commanders to run the show and discussions were done in private. The bosses let the men and women be the police. You want crime reduced? Then let us do our job. It’s not us that’s the problem, hold the judicial system accountable, or more importantly, hold the offender or parent accountable. Something is wrong with the revolving door of justice if the same kids are committing the crimes. Obviously they aren’t scared or worried about the outcome or consequences of their actions. It’s ridiculous that everyday at school dismissals, the same kids and or gangs are fighting and basically trying to kill each other.

Here’s an idea. Have one of our elite units, start early to cover the school dismissals. Or hey, this may sound crazy, but bring back the school unit. This way the taxpayers will not be forced to wait til the so called students are finished with their daily shenanigans and the backlogs will go away.

Most officers I know bitch and whine about the job, we’ve all done it at one time or another, it’s part of the human condition and believe it or not, we’re human. Still, these same officers will be the first to drive lights and sirens to help someone in need. No matter how they’ve been messed with, this is the calling. Call it an inner drive, call it a moral purpose call it what you will, but know the end result. Know that no matter how much nonsense the average officer sees everyday , he or she, will rush to your aid when you call for help. Know that no matter how much you find fault with what we do, know that we come to your aid when you’re in need. We do it, we rush to your aid because it’s inside us plain and simple. It’s what we do. It’s who we are.

Yes, we blog from just east of Hegewisch.

Seriously though? We draft articles for posting throughout the day in our heads and on paper. Then we meet online with our vast editoriual staff and figure out what's going to be on site the next day. We set the type and ink the rollers and get everything prepped for press time. Press time varies depending on what our start time is for midnights or what time we end up getting off of third watch or what time we time we stagger in from the bar next door. The "time posted" clock is adjustable and we move it around to keep the posting days separate.

Let's see, a fat slob beats up a female bartender half his size and weight. A bunch of other guys beat up some civilian(s) in a bar. And then they all expect to get away with it? They really believe that nothing will happen to them? Oh, and then we all get mad at the media for reporting it.

Gimme a freakin break. These people deserve to have their faces plastered all over the papers and TV screens. They violated the one rule, the most important rule, the rule that will get you fired, killed, or wreak havoc on any career. They violated the Stupid Rule. If you want to vent, vent against these morons. Everytime one of our morons gets into a jam, all we hear about is what a great guy he is, was, could have been, or maybe could have been if... Worse, if he is a POS, then everyone piles on- just like the media you hate.

The media will report on anything that they think will get them advertising dollars- it is not about ethics, morality, the public's right to know- it is about the kachingos.

If you are that stupid that you think you can get away with dumb stunts than you deserve everything that happens to you- including the embarassment to your family. If you are looking for sympathy, try the dictionary. It comes between shit and syphillis.

It is not the fault of the Bosses, the Mayor, the media, or anyone else. It is your own fault and you deserve what happens afterwards. I beleive the term is personal responsibility.

Why didn't I grab my usual baseball jersey this morning?
I was stopped at the stop light at Armitage/Western and someone next to me was trying to get my attention. I figured she wanted some directions....I rolled down my window and she said to me "I just wanted to say THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU DO and how much I appreciate you guys"....then she drove off. Tears started to form in my eyes as I fought them back then I heard horns blowing (I was in a daze and must not have noticed the light changed green)
I proceeded forward and a block down I saw an old man walking. He looked at me with a big smile and gave me the "thumbs up"....thats when I then lost it....tears were streaming down my face and I had to pull my car over. I sat in my car and cried my eyes out. I looked down and now it was 9:45!! Late to court again I guess!!.....But for the rest of my ride I kept my head up and sat up straight. If someone asks you to beat the shit out of them, are you guilty of a crime when you give them what they ask for? I mean, really, a man is grieving for the loss of his father, he's crying about it, his friends are consoling him, they even took his gun away from him (indicating that this is serious grieving), and you call him a pussy and tell him to stop crying. Loosely translated, that means: "Please, sirs, beat the shit out of me and my friends." How can you be guilty of a crime or lose your job when you're invited? In the old days, those were called "fighting words".

I saw blocks and blocks with these flags. maybe we can do the same thing with us... have someone make up flags and sell them that say we support our chicago police... the profit made can go to the gold star families or to our memorial park.... speaking of which, that is another thing that frosts me! Daley is willing to shell out all this money for the 2016 olympics but gave zero toward our memorial park.... then you wonder why cops are doing stupid stuff, when you don't feel appreciated you do these things. Why aren't we seeing the JEFFERSON TAP beating Incident all over the Chicagoland TV news stations? Could it be because there are some CPD Supervisors involved in this one, not just a lowly CPD P.O.? Why are you holding it back, or not demanding access to it, CHICAGO News Media? Maybe sit on it long enough and it will go away under the carpet? Think about it troops. What favoritism does the Chicago News Media get from the High -Ups in the CPD and City Hall? Maybe a play, when needed, in exchange for when one of their own steps on it? Fair and Honest Reporting? HA! CPD Ethics? DOUBLE HA!

although P.O. Abatte's behavior was inexcusable, think about this... Have you ever came close to snapping like he did? Was he really going into a Divorce after finding his wife with another man? If so, were his CPD Supervisors aware of this, yet still sent him out into the field, just to use him to bring them in arrests to make their stats look better? Although the Liberal news-media avoids it, was Abatte expected to do even more work on his Tact Team, as the CPD is short over 3,000 cops, and the Mayor and Pfat Pfill are trying to play a shell game with the real numbers of the manpower strength of the CPD? Is the big strong man-cop expected to do more of the dirty-work every day of making arrests of felons in the worst areas of the city than his tiny female counterpart, to make up for their inadequacies, for the same pay? If so, maybe some of the fancy-pants bosses, politicians, and news media people should try to walk a mile in his shoes, and see how long they last without blowing a cork.

Sent to Roe Conn today:

TO: Mr. Roe Conn:
FROM: A Chicago Police Officer
SUBJECT: Pick Your Conspiracy: Blue Wall of Silence or Media Misinformation Frenzy?

It is with tongue in cheek that the format of this letter mimics the CPD To/From report (entertaining myself, I guess). Let me preface the body of this letter by stating that if you have clarified, corrected or reversed your position on the following subject, then disregard.

A few days ago when the 025 Dist. illegal handicapped parking/lot blocking issue was being discussed by yourself and Ron Magers you (rhetorically) asked some important questions. Such as why, at a time of such public/press scrutiny, would a group of officers/supervisors band together and do something guaranteed to garner further negative publicity? You also seemed aghast that real, honest cops would want to go an extra mile for such a jag (my term) as Abate. These were valid probing questions and your sense of incredulity was that little voice of the healthy skeptic telling you all was not as it appeared. I give you much credit for that. It was with frustration that I couldn’t get through on the phone to your show as Mr. Magers was able to further the unsubstantiated premise, stated as a proven assumption on which further discussion was based, that this was a concerted effort by police officers to deny the press access to the accused. I wouldn’t have been ecstatic but could have lived with merely slanting the story but Mr. Magers made the mistake of restating this assumption as a given numerous times. Never was there a caveat that “This smacks of…”, “Could this be…”, “Are we seeing a ….”, so a claim of editorializing is unacceptable.

I am sure by now you have heard and considered the following facts/possibilities:
Writing a (legitimate) ticket or blocking a police-only parking lot denied the press only IF they are doing some sort of new ‘drive-by’ filming from their vans.
The city recently began a program of towing on duty squad cars for parking in handicapped spaces.
The hypocrisy of the media doing exposes on abuse of handicapped parking. I believe one ran on WMAQ during the same newscast featuring the story of their outrage at not being allowed to trample the rights of the handicapped.
The 025 Watch Cmdr. should and was only trying to keep order in his parking lot. A lot where prisoners are brought in for court by county officers, covert vehicles park, undercover officers and confidential informants frequent (no bat cave-like secret tunnel). And bottom line is it IS a police parking only lot and access to the press is a favor given when the Watch Commander chooses to do so.
An exempt rank commander wouldn’t sacrifice his career like this even if he was friends with the accused.
It was the judge that ordered knucklehead to be taken out a different door.
As high profile cases are sometimes handled this way, any reporter worth his salt would have found out where their subject was exiting. It is unfortunate that their usual wiliness deserted all of them at the same time.

Your doubt and sense of disbelief that good Chicago Police Officers would want to protect this F*%*NUT was right. And I would like to think Mr. Magers merely got swept up in the excitement of the moment as his statements were off the cuff and not a written editorial piece. But huge damage was done. This whole situation was, or rather should have remained, just another episode in the ongoing pissing match between press and police (a whole ‘nuther subject). Sometimes we write them, sometimes we give them a play. Choosing to write them in this situation may have been bad timing but that bad timing hardly warrants the irresponsibility and damage of claiming a police conspiracy and using it as a platform for further discussion thus leading listeners to believe it is being reported as unbiased fact. If I have swayed you at all, at least about the method that was used when you discussed this subject on your show, I hope you will address it on your show. I don’t think the damage can be undone-this event has already gelled in the public’s mind forever as a police conspiracy but it would at least prove the character you usually show.

I am aware of your pro-police stance and all the work you have done on behalf of the Gold Star Families and thank you. It is because of those things and your consistent objectivity that I take the time to write. Any lesser a supporter would have me on the blogs calling for a boycott, not composing this long-winded missive. I know you are an acquaintance of Superintendent Cline and had him on your show yesterday. Due to my military experience, I am uncomfortable questioning his decision but as this does not involve a lawful order given on duty, I believe a certain amount of dissent is acceptable. I disagree with his handling of this situation, finding it prematurely reactionary and based on media-supplied suppositions, unproven at the time. It is possible that he had real information that the demoted Watch Commander was actively engaging in press censorship. If that comes to light, then I withdraw my objections. Let it be noted that I am well aware of the constraints he operates under due to political ramifications and believe he normally tries to do what is best for the department as a whole. I certainly wouldn‘t want to be in his shoes! Consider having someone from the rank and file on your show some time, not on the phone but live, in-person to get another perspective.
Sincerely,
"Hunter"
Chicago Police Officer

On Wednesday while returning to my squad car I heard a car horn blowing.
I turned around and a young woman said to me from her open car window,
not everyone hates you.
I think you guys are great!
She then drove off.

To the young Officer from he Jefferson Tavern incident who lost his father.

I am 59 years old, I lost my father 21 years ago as well as my bother John (Ret.CPD) three years ago. I still feel it and always will. The story is that you were emmotional. So What if you were. You'll feel this emotion the rest of your life and it is nothing to be ashamed of. Your Father was the anchor in your life, this was your hero. My father was the greatest man to ever walk the face of the earth, My Brother John was the second. I miss them today, and the pain is still there. You can thank your lucky stars that you were with true friends who were there to protect you. As for the "business men" they didn't get what they deserved to the fullest extent. I would have taken a strong hand to them myself.

I know you have family and friends that will see you through the tough times but if you feel a need to talk or an ear for listening feel free to give me a call but remember, family and friends are what count most in this life.

She stated that you will always have bad apples that make everyone wearing a uniform look bad (para-phraseing a bit).

Why was it that the business men who were beat at the Jefferson Bar refused medical treatment at the time -- but when they heard it was off duty cops involved, and money to be made, then they went to the hospital to be treated. Since when does a broken nose require facial reconstruction. The business men knew they screwed up and left with their tails between their legs. But when there was $$$$ to be made, they resurfaced.

This guy was known as the "Out-Patient" and a real stroke on MOST police things but not everything.

He is the one who made us stop being able shotguns in distict patrol cars. Reason, too much liabiltiy as it is cheaper to bury a cop than to defend one even a good shooting.

One thing he did right was to NOT give Curtis Slewa and the Guardian Angels any type of a city charter or recognition. To have given that bunch of goofs any assistance would have opened the city up to a lot of liability. Keep that on mind when untrained citizens want to volunteer for anything.

If you ever have Brezcek in court representing one of your arrestees he has a favorite trick. He will have the defendent, now bathed, shaved and in looking like a human being in the court audience and want you to pick him out. Have the mug-shots with you when you go to court. When he asked me to pick out a serious DUI I locked up 18 months previously and rearrested on a warrant I replied, "That old gag!" The judge stopped this foolishness and ordered the defendent to stand up.

Think of how many times you have to go in on a domestic to stop a woman or child from getting the shit beat out of them. Think about how many times people don't even care enough to say thank you when it's all said and done.

was on my was to branch court this morning...late as usual. I was in such a depressed state of mind with all the scandals breaking and was for the first time in my 2.5 year career embarrassed to be wearing my uniform.
I was PROUD to be wearing the CPD patch on my shoulder and you should be too!

That is the biggest bunch of bullshit I've ever read in my life! I've worked in 014 for over 10 years and have yet to have ANYONE say anything nice to me while I've been in uniform, and yet you have two strangers give a "pat on the back" on your way to court? I ain't buying it. Nice sentiments and all, but it's a fucking fairy tale for sure!

I have to say thank you to this guy, you don't get too many it seems and even fewer in the Ghetto. I have to say though, that I've gotten a mix of dirty looks from people who know or managed to figure out that I'm a cop, but I've also gotten some pretty positive feedback, or at least a lot of bad mouthing the media, which is good enough for me. For the media who reads this site, maybe you should take a page from Ernie Pyle......if you even know who that is. He was a great journalist, he stayed on the front lines with GI's during WWII, lived like they did, say and reported what they did, both good and bad, officers and enlisted, but he had the respect of the troops because he was fair and ACCURATE in his reporting. We have several class acts in this Dept, and like every other organization, we too, unfortunately get our share of mopes. From what I've seen of the media ranks, you have an overabundance of mopes and few (there are some) class acts. I agree with several of the posters here that you should do ride alongs, but they'll never send you to a fast district with a working car, you might get a fast district, but not a fast car. If you do decide to ride along, do it more than once, twice, or even three times, do it in as many different districts as you can as often as you can........if you don't get a story from that then you're blind. Oh, yeah, and to the numbnuts trying to dime SCC out on his location, IAD called, they want their snitch back.

In response to the officer who ask Why some officers go to call back and others get fired. I'm from the old school (yellow paper) its all about connections kid. I can safely say your members of exempt rank are handpicked by Mayor Daley the dept has no criteria for rendering verdicts. One police officer can be fired for a sustained charge of brutality against a civilian yet others are put back on the street. During my years I have observed certain officers are dismissed for unlawful discharging of their weapon yet others go right back to work . You get the picture kid Understand this all of the officers that get minimal time have one thing in common, they are connected. in closing THE CHICAGO POLICE DEPT IS NEITHER IMPARTIAL FAIR NOR HONEST. stay safe kid

I was PROUD to be wearing the CPD patch on my shoulder and you should be too!
----------------------
THANK YOU FOR THAT, IT REMINDS ME WHY I EVER JOINED THE CHICAGO POLICE DEPARTMENT.

HEY ASSHAT WHY WOULD SOMEONE MAKE UP A STORY LIKE THAT???....BECAUSE IT DOESN'T END WITH A SCANDAL? BECAUSE HE DIDN'T JUMP OUT OF THE CAR AND BEAT THEM? BECAUSE NO ONE GOT INDICTED? WOULD THAT MAKE IT MORE BELIEVABLE?
THAT STORY INSPIRED MANY OF US-INCLUDING ME SO F*CK OFF!

Here is my opinion (4550), there is good and bad in all people. The guy who beat the bar tender, no excuse, you need to go straight to jail. Obviously not the first woman you hit but I will bet it will the last. Cowards like that make our job "impossible."

"Impossible," is being a police officer in the face of odds that are stacked against you. This much is true.

Impossible is also dealing with promotion exams that take six or seven months to score. Impossible is watching the incompetant lead the bold.

But do me a favor: don't offer to arrange to meet me somewhere--I'm sure your gun and badge and radio that you can use to call lots of other people with guns and badges trumps my unarmed desire to slap sparks from your ass, bully boy.

I know nothing about you, but you sure sound like a disgrace to the uniform. Maybe you should take it off.

Moral in the 025th District on the second watch is at an all time low. They sent the goofball Charlie Williams out to address the 2nd watch roll call and as expected, he made things even worse. He actually had the gall to state that the media is our friend, that we should embrace them. He also said that they should be given free access to our parking lot whenever they want, that we have nothing to hide back there. I guess he doesn't know that we have undercover cars parked back there or undercover Officers walking back there all the time, not to mention our personal cars.

I guess station house security is not very important to ole Charlie. I guess he never heard of terrorists posing as journalists. Perhaps he needs to do a little research about the history of the current conflict we are involved in overseas. Then he might learn that some of the terrorists favorite tactics are car bombs in parking lots or suicide bombers posing as news reporters.

I wonder if ole Charlie is going to foot the legal bill the next time we bring a combative prisoner in the backdoor and he's fighting us all the way while we are using the neccessary force to subdue him, all of which is being filmed by the news crew who now have access to anything, anywhere because ole Charlie says they are our friend and can go wherever they want to?

I was originally horrified as I watched that tape of Abatte beating that woman bartender. Then my horror was replaced by disgust, embarrassment and anger at what he did to not only her, but the rest of us as well. I didn't think that I would ever see anything that would make me feel that way again. But something has. It's the exempts response to this all of this, particularly their response to the non-event that happened in 025 the other day, the media circus, at Abatte's court appearance. As far as I'm concerned,Cline and Williams should either resign or be fired. They are too far out of touch with reality and what we do at the District level, nor do they care. They have demonstrated time and time again that they cannot be trusted and do not have the Police Officers best interest at heart. I is time for them as well as others to go before they do more damage than they already have.

I love being a Chicago Police Officer. I waited a long time to get on what I considered the finest Police Department anywhere. When I was swore in and became part of that great organization, I couldn't have been prouder. A dream come true. I can't wait however to retire which I will do in a few years. Why you ask? Because I'm now EMBARRASSED to be a Chicago Police Officer. Not because of the Abatte thing or some of the other scandals that will soon surface. Those things (hopefully not Abatte) will occur from time to time. I'm embarrassed because of the way this department has been run as of late. POD Missions, DOC Missions, Seatbelt Missions, SOP Missions, Public Violence Missions, none of which have had any impact on crime. The appointment of some of the most incompetent individuals that have ever been on this job to key command positions. The expansion of that Command Staff for no other reason other than to reward Clines cronies. The smoke and mirrors show that Cline and Co. have created. The COMPLETE lack of backbone by the Command Staff, particularly when it comes to dealing with the news media. They have the backbone of a jellyfish. CAPS. Need I say anymore? I'm embarrassed because of the quality of some of the "Officers" they have been hiring. People who should be flipping burgers instead of being given a gun and a star, people who actually THINK that because of that, that they actually are the Police.

Most of this, while not all, is the result of Cline and Company and Daley. They are on the way to completely destroying whats left of a once great Police Department. I however do not want to be around to watch it's destruction.

Well, well. At least you had the cojones to give your name and eMail address on your second post.

Whether you agree or disagree with Barry Moran's post, he, like his late brother John, easily qualify as "Chicago's Finest".

For obvious reasons, politicians and high-ranking police officials may be fair game for "anonymous" criticism. Notwithstanding, some of us will not tolerate an "anonymous" and insulting tirade against an outstanding detective who had the courage to identify himself.

Ergo, I now apologize for calling you a "cowardly cocksucker" since you have since identified yourself.

Like Moran, you are entitled to express your opinion, even if controversial, Citizen Robinson.

Have a happy life.

I always hear everyone bitching because someone did a home invasion and it's swept under the rug. Of course the copper who is the head of it doesn't get in trouble, it's the rest of his team that doesn't have the clout that looks at 30 days pending. Fuck them.

Excellent point. Did you ever try to get on the 5th floor? Access is blocked unless you have the right swipe card, even if you're sworn, and you have to either call someone to let you in or stand around until someone enters or leaves and then sneak in before the door shuts. What are they afraid of? There's already security on the ground floor checking IDs. Oh wait, maybe they're afraid of some angry copper showing up with a baseball bat. Never mind.

charlie williams and phil cline are empty, politically reactive non-leaders. clearly "charlie" is on the defensive for the actions that were taken against captain m.b., formerly of 25 second watch. the reason he is on the defensive is that he must know that what was done to m.b. is not justified by the policies of the dept. and the laws of the state of IL. hope m.b. is reinstated as captain and sues the shit out of c.w. and p.c. both c.w. and p.c. should resign now. the have demonstrated for some months now that the cannot lead.

Just because one idiot does something wrong doesn't mean you all fall in that category. I've always thought you all should receive much more respect than you get, and it irks me to no end that the media tries to paint you all with the same brush, and it's just not fair.

Car accidents involving young people..........coming home from a party.....they all died...

finding abused animals.......that have to be put down because of what humans have done to them..........

Sometimes on their wedding days......

At the birth of their children.........

when we face the death of family members.......

when we face the death of one of our own.........we have all seen way too many funerals.....

I am a civilian living in the Westridge (50th and 40th wards) community of Chicago.

For what it's worth, I just wanted to say that there are a lot of us that really do appreciate all the efforts that the police make to keep our community safe.

A lot of civilians feel that way, far more than you realize. It is just that an occasion to say so rarely occurs.

For the most part, police officers do not make contact with civilians under the best of circumstances, You can hardly expect that someone you are about to arrest, or at least fine or intimidate, is going to be favorably disposed to anyone of your profession at that moment.

And for most civilians, going up to any law enforcement official and saying, "Gee, you guys are doing a great job" is dangerous, because they worry that the LEO will think that they are up to something nefarious.

So most civilians keep their silence on such things. But that doesn't mean we don't appreciate, or don't care.

We do. A lot. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that it takes a lot of courage and dedication to go out and do what you do. Most of us civilians understand that.

But the fact of the matter is, most of us are never going to say it to your face. You are just going to have to live with that, it comes with the profession.

Just don't forget that just because you don't hear it, that it does not mean we don't appreciate all that you do.

And so, I will end by saying on behalf of all of rest of us:

"Thanks for everything you do!"
