Half Assed Reporting

  • Two people have filed a federal lawsuit alleging three Chicago Police officers duct taped and beat them earlier in the month.

The plaintiffs also accuse the plainclothes officers of threatening both of them at gunpoint, and beating one plaintiff with a baseball bat and burning his body with a lighter.

According to the five-count suit filed Friday in U.S. District Court, one plaintiff, Tamira Smyth, was pulling into her garage on March 9 when two officers cut her car off, withdrew their guns and then handcuffed her. After leading her up to her apartment, they allegedly duct taped her hands and legs to a chair. The suit says the officers were constantly pointing their guns at her head.
  • The suit accused the unidentified officers of unlawful seizure, unlawful search, excessive force, battery and infliction of emotional distress.
We aren't sure if the officers are unidentified for certain legal reasons or they're unidentified because they are completely unknown - as in non-existent. This sounds like complete and utter BS and someone looking for a quick payout. Tying the victim to a chair? Beating with a baseball bat? Burned with cigarette lighters? Come on, this is a bad Hollywood script.

At least we know it can't be any unit with GPS in the cars.

also agree...sounds like total bs...BUT...aren't there legal sanctions against attorneys who file lawsuits, without doing the minimum of pre-filing investigation, to determine if the lawsuit is valid?...Sanctions, penalties, against the plaintiff's attorneys (assuming a complaint not supported by independent investigation)....the city's response?....

Saw the papers, this is B.S. never once did she inform anyone when this was reported that the offenders were the police. It is a load of crap, dope dealers stuck up by dope dealers hoping to cash in. Look for them to get themselves arrested for false reports, or a quick million from the corp counsel.

What is this crap? They automatically say it was the police but yet they cannot prove it and they file a damn lawsuit?
They said they saw a blue & white squad car outside, that these "guys" were talking about districts, that these "guys" said they had to check in. And that alone proves they were the police? WTF!?!
I would hope to GOD that our PO's aren't that stupid with all this other nonsense going on the Dept.
Sounds like these two aren't legit!
Sounds like some street thugs got ahold of them and since they can't get $ out of street thugs, Hey What the Heck... let's say they were Police Officers. SIGH!!!!

Everyone knows the city always settles and the Police are always wrong. It is hoped that the city will make an acceptable offer before they look at it too closely. It might be worth it to hire The Boston Legal firm of Crane,Poole and Schmidt to fight some of these B.S. cases!!

Yes that's why the Corp Counsel will only offer them one million, that will teach them!

Geg Kulis is a Piece of SHIITE lawyer who is representing these MUTTS. He makes his living on nuisence suits against the City. He used to be with the Corp Counsel.
About 10-15 yrs ago, he represented someone who was suing me. At my deposition on financial disclosure he thought I was holding back on my assets. He thought I owned a boat (I DID NOT) because I had a shirt w/ a sailboat on it. He kept pushing the point.
He'll take any offer the city gives him before the trial.
2nd; No way did the POLICE do this to his MUTT clients.

Just a thought! Can we start suing citizens for every fuck up they make? Like next arrest if he/she struggles i may fall down go IOD and then sue them but only if they own something i want! Would that work?

Guess who does the initial investigation for these hacks? Yup, OPS, IAD or the field sgt. Any time a lawsuit is filed against the department, the supes legal counsel, looks to see if there was a CR investigation and it's discoverable. If not they get the ball rolling. Great system HUH!

I taped the people to the chairs and burned them with a lighter. They deserved it, they were republicans and didn't believe in global warming!

Sounds like this little group rip off another dope dealer and these Dope Dealing "FAKE COPS" used some tactical procedures to recover their losses.

I bet each and every one of them have nice long rap sheets including narcotic arrests.

Is that true, this person will just get an automatic payment from the City w/o proof, I would imagine she should be able to I.d. these two. Didnt anyone hear her scream or notice this police car in the alley w/o a driver? I thought in these neighborhoods, everyone watch everyone else.

Close family member is a former Asst. Corp. Counsel. He stated that if you slip on the ice, or fall down drunk on your face, you can appear at a hospital ER alledging you got trimmed by unknown police officers. A report will be made, a CR obtained, and despite the allegation being fabricated you can easily get a settlement of between five and ten thousand dollars. Do you know why? I'll tell you why. The female white Oprah watching, Serpico believing asswipes holed up in the suburbs believe we have nothing to do but plant dope on Tyrese and crack skulls with impunity. Makes me embarrassed to be white, but never embarrassed to be the police.
