CPD Enforcers

Some helpful soul keeps trying to post this entire article in the comments section. First of all, that'd be a violation of various copyright laws. Secondly, it's just too damn huge.

But what we can do is link the article here and send readers over the the Sun Times website to read what we sample below:
  • During this recent practice at St. Ignatius College Prep, the Enforcers -- a year-old football team comprised of Chicago Police officers -- looked more like high school kids than cops, more like cops than athletes.

But at a time when the Chicago Police Department is reeling under a series of brutality scandals, the Enforcers are a genuine feel-good story.

It's their first season in the National Public Safety Football League, and they're building morale and giving Chicagoans alienated from their police department and professional sports something to relate to, said Shaun Gayle, a captain on the Super Bowl-winning 1985 Bears who is helping coach the Enforcers secondary.

Keep up the good work guys.

How can the Slum-Times not mention the Enforcer's #1 defensive player-Rockin' Redhead S Kelnosky? This guy is absolutely incredible out on the field. He's an animal man! Coach O'C is absolutely thrilled to have such an amazing talent in his ranks. We will be #1 this year.

TEAM SONG FOUND IT:

We are the old, we've got arthritis,
Our gums are weak [so weak], from gingivitis.
We are the old, we've got arthritis,
We are the ones who wear bifocals, and have bursitis.
There are people younger, but we heed another call,
We really need the money, our accountants took it all.
We sing to you, those who have money,
Once we was cool, but now we just dress funny.
We need your help, so please please dig deep,
Don't call after ten, 'cause we'll be asleep.
We have Medicare, and anti-gas pills,
But without your help, we can't pay our alimony bills.
We are the old, [They are the old,]
We have arthritis. [They have arthritis.]
Once we were gods, now golf excites us. [Golf excites 'em.]
So write a check [a really big one], for our December,
There's one more verse, but we can't remember...

As I sit here and read this thread, I had hoped that maybe for the first time in a long time there might be a a lot of positive comments and for the most part there has been, but there is someone out there who doesn't like us and we are not sure why.

We as a team have a great time playing the game of football, we love the game, thats why we started this team and thats why we go out there a few times a week to practice and 4 times in the spring to play the games. Maybe there are a few softballs on the team, maybe some of us should hang up the cleats, but the one thing that is for sure about the team as a whole, we are all there to play some football, have some fun and raise money for some good causes.

To whomever keeps posting about the stupid cable guy, he was never on the team, was never a player or a part of our organization. If you would like to keep saying that he was, feel free to stop by practice and see me, I am one of the guys that started this thing and wouldn't mind having a chat with you. I enjoy the ball busting and bantering back and forth but this is rude and out of line. Posting false information is terrible.

If what you post if out of jealousy or spite, I truly feel sorry for you. If you have other motivation then I'm not sure what your deal is.

I am very proud of all the guys that come out and play with us. I would do anything for my teammates. I would go to battle them any day of the week, they got my back and I got theirs.

For those of you that support the team, thank you very much. All we are trying to do is provide a positive outlet for officers to play and or come out and watch. We are playing NYPD this weekend at Hanson Stadium (corner of fullerton and central), should be a great game. Check out our website for more information www.cpdenforcers.com
