- OFF TOPIC; put very interesting... saturday night one of the aldermen contacted the 008th District and ordered that all of the drag racers around 43rd and pulaski get the cars towed and posssible arrests.
When 008th district officers arrived they were told to carrall all the cars into a private parking lot in the area and not allow them to leave.
Officers were then told not to do tow reports on the cars, but that the private towing company thats used in the parking lot will be making the tows....total cars towed 169.
Interesting thing is since this is a police matter why was E&R towing not used and a private tow company was...not to mention this private tow company is owned by a captain of police brother.
Still curious just who it was that got there palm greised for this brash stunt.

Second, corralling cars without any sort of evidence that they were anything but spectators? Disorderly conduct, maybe. Various public morals or alcohol violations, possibly. But impounds? 169? By a private tow company? With no paperwork?
This story might be 100% BS for all we can tell. But if it happens to be true, any supervisor that allowed PO's to be put in this trick bag by confiscating cars with no paperwork, or by blocking exits to private lots so a private tow company could steal illegally parked cars deserves to be castigated, suspended and ridiculed. If we recall correctly, by state law, if the owner of a car is on scene, a private tow MUST drop the car, period. No exceptions. So each and every car taken if the owner was on scene and the police were blocking egress from the lot, can generously be called a stolen car.
Reports from the scene? Taxpayers better hope that this didn't happen because some smart lawyer will get damages for every car if he can track down enough people for a class action suit.

That, and our orders clearly dictate that we are not to use private towing companies for anything. We cannot instigate any towing by a private company and we must secure and LEGALLY park cars of arrestees. If noone was arrested, how did they tow their cars nd for what?

True story this was pre planned for a weekend well in advance, to get as many numbers as possible,about two weeks of plotting.This was conducted by a tactical team headed by Sgt. McMahon the 861 team. What a fcukin joke. Not such of how many heads,tickets,anovs,dispersals,contact cards or tows. The cars were on private property and removed by a tow firm contracted by the property owner for unauthorized vehicles.

Two Chicago police officers filed a federal lawsuit Monday against the city, contending they were passed over for promotions while serving with the U.S. Army Reserve in Iraq.
Officers Juan Sandoval and Sidney Pennix maintained they were punished for their military service.
Federal law calls for employees returning from military service to be treated as if they had continued working, the suit said. But the officers contended they lost benefits and promotion opportunities.
Sandoval was in Iraq for parts of 2003 and 2004, and Pennix returned in January after more than a year there.
Jennifer Hoyle, a spokeswoman for Chicago's Law Department, said the city had not seen the suit Monday and would have no comment.

This did happen, Sunday we were called to both the main office of the tow company and thier offsite which is in 009 btw. The reason; the poeple were attempting to break into the lots to reclaim thier vehicles. This went on all Sunday morning.

i work in 008 and was there, only a dozen or two cars were towed and all were towed at the district by the proper tow company. obviously all of the tows were tvb's and jagoffs who mouthed off. drag racers are a huge problem in that neighborhood in question and that was not initiated by the alderman, it was started by beat 815 beat facilitator going to the commander and complaining. that entire operation was planned 2 weeks ahead of time... ive got a feeling that a certain p.o that was stopped... and we know who you are because you made a big speech and stink about the operation is writing this.

Some 16YO kid came to the desk yesterday and asked to get his license back. I asked him what happened. He relates that the police cornered him and about 150 other cars in a lot on the south side and towed all the cars. He said an officer took his license, but he never got a ticket and his car was towed. Now his license is gone, as well, and no ticket. Guess he shouldn't have been there, huh. OOPS.

Three men were killed overnight in a multiple-vehicle crash on Chicago's Far Southeast Side that may have been caused by a vehicle fleeing a traffic stop, police said.
The crash occurred about midnight at the intersection of 100th Street and Avenue M, Chicago police Officer Hector Alfaro said.
Police said a white Ford Crown Victoria traveling south on Avenue M at a high rate of speed ran a stop sign and slammed into another vehicle before striking a parked car and flipping over.
One man from the Crown Victoria and two men from the other car were pronounced dead shortly after the crash at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn and Advocate Trinity Hospital, police said.
A Cook County medical examiner's office spokesman said the men killed had been identified, but further information was being withheld this morning pending notification of next of kin. Two of the men were in their 20s and one was in his 30s, the spokesman said.
South Chicago District police said the Crown Victoria had been stopped by officers near the intersection of 95th Street and Avenue M when the vehicle drove off. Police could not say whether the Crown Victoria was being pursued at the time of the crash.

I was there and the story is not true. What really happened was the new police helicopter came and lifted each vehicle with a giant magnet and carried it to a large barge docked on Lake Michigan and placed each of the cars into a container. Once all the containers were full the ship sailed of to an unknown European country. This was all done under the supervision of numerous Alderman, the Mayor, as well as various high ranking police officials. Since most of you on here are retarded I am sure most of you will believe this. It must be true its on the blog.

If the alleged incident in 008 really happened with the knowledge and blessing of the D/C or even the W/C, he/she should immediately be relieved of command and stripped. It not only violates GO but I'm sure I could find some law that it violates besides Official Misconduct. Since when can a police officer stop a car, direct the driver to park it on private property, hold the vehicle (with or without the owner) hostage awaiting a private tow's arrival w/o taking at least some official police action. More importantly, this penalizes the drivers for obeying a police order. If these drivers where joyridding or whatever, you make the stop, write the applicable tickets, confiscate the car if necessary and you have it towed by E & R. Perfectly legitimate. OTOH, if the story is true, there is about 20 things wrong with the actions taken by the officers and their supervisors for each car confiscated. I think the officers themselves may be okay if they were doing as ordered but the W/C and D/C should be relieved immediately.

Last month I ran into one of the biggest asshole coppers on the job. I know there is a lot of bad press about us lately and he will only help fuel the flame, its just a matter of time. This is one of those cops who always calls himself the real police even though he is lazy as a shithead. He talks about his past arrests all the time and each time the story gets longer with more bullshit. He is the type of guy who gets pulled over and yells at the copper because his Chevy blazer has a police medallion on it so they shouldn't have pulled him over. I know some of the poor souls who have had to work with him in the past and they regret ever working with him. Well here's top you J.Castro! You are gonna be the next headline in the Sun Times. The next time you see Super Cline he will be talking about how much of a embarrassment this guy is.

9-84-020 Removal of vehicle by owner or legal possessor of vehicle.
No vehicle may be towed by any person from private property if the owner or other person entitled to possession of the vehicle is present and offers to remove such vehicle voluntarily prior to the time such person attempting to tow removes such vehicle from the premises in question; provided that the owner or other person so removes the vehicle immediately thereupon.
So every single vehicle that may have been trapped and towed was done so illegally in violation of City Law.
9-84-040 Violation--Penalty.
Any person or any officer of any corporation, or any partner of any partnership, making a tow or authorizing a tow, or booting a vehicle or authorizing the booting of a vehicle in violation of any provision of Section 9-84-010, 9-84-015, 9-84-020 or 9-84-030 shall be fined not less than $50.00 nor more than $500.00 for the first offense and not less than $100.00 nor more than $500.00 for the second and each subsequent offense. I was there and the story is not true. What really happened was the new police helicopter came and lifted each vehicle with a giant magnet and carried it to a large barge docked on Lake Michigan and placed each of the cars into a container. Once all the containers were full the ship sailed of to an unknown European country. This was all done under the supervision of numerous Alderman, the Mayor, as well as various high ranking police officials. Since most of you on here are retarded I am sure most of you will believe this. It must be true its on the blog.

The true count was 139 cars...And Both 861 & 863 teams were there along with a couple of traffic guys. I asked someone who was really there not the idiots claiming to be (only a couple dozen cars? Come on man!) And this came straight from the alderman. He's always pulling the strings on his puppets in the district. The new commander and a couple of kiss ass SGTs broke out the knee pads and they are gonna get burnt. Lets hope the boys in blue don't take too much heat for taking orders. Although the only following orders defense works when you might not have a boss that will hang you out to dry. Good luck 863. This will be a summer to remember. Have the FOP on speed dial if you're following orders from Rick Flair.

SCC their was a mission on Pulaski, It gets crazy on weekends after 23:00 lots of Polish racers driving their rubber band powered Japanese rice burners, Civics Mitsubishi spiders z350's corollas etc, and an occasional hector in his pimped out Escalade catching a glimpse at a blond betoch. Hundreds of cars race around disobeying traffic laws disregarding public safety. Some got caught most got away. No stupid private towing sanctioned by CPD.
PS why is this 012th Dist PO hanging among this crowd? He’s got to grow up.

Wrong, he's not going to trial. All charges were dropped after the ASA told the court that they could not locate the victim who has moved out of state. This Sgt. who will now soon be a Lt., will be back to work soon.

I mean, come on, he gets off the 905 car to work 933 and then he gets first dibs to return to it? That isn't right! I, for one, am going to grievance this one.

I remeber back years ago in 008 when a watch commander told me to open the fire hydrants in that area I told him "NO" he said it was an order i told him fine write it down and sign it. He refused and had another weaker officer do it! Remember if someone got killed by opening hydrants the fat watch commander would deny he told you that same as the balless tac bosses will say when the coppers get sued! It is a new police dept boys and girls if you feel it is not right have the high paid clout supervisors do it!
