Stupid Comment

We can't believe someone actually posted this in the comments section, but we thought we'd throw it out here for everyone to enjoy:
  • I learned from a friend that a co-worker of his got locked up in 023. So I checked out the arrest, only to find that it was a GANG team who locked him up for .4grams of weed. That is about a $2.00 street value. Since when do gang teams start locking up professionals for bullshit. We wonder why we can't find a jury to side with us when we are victims. We give more breaks to shitheads every single day. Are these two P.O's afraid to lock up a gang banger??? I don't know a thing about these two coppers but unless there was something more involved these two should have a stern talkingto by their SGT and LT.
First up, isn't .4 grams of weed a crime? We didn't know that the City had enacted the "ANOV for Cannabis" ordinance already, but we'll be sure to look that one up real soon.

Second, anyone who says in a public forum that they give out breaks for anything that isn't traffic related is as soft as baby shit.

Third, in this age of video, audio, camera phones, blue light cameras, GPS, squad car cameras, and IAD/OPS greasing the skids for ANYONE and EVERYONE who steps out of line, why in god's name would you even think about dumping .4 grams of weed anywhere except in an Inventory Envelope? If dumb ass was stupid enough to get caught with .4 grams and didn't have the presence of mind to eat it or dump it, he can sit in the back until his prints clear and get his I-bond like every other dumb ass that gets locked up. He'll beat it in court somehow.

And finally, if you don't have any idea that gang teams (and every other team in the city) is numbers driven now and this idiot was just another number, we wonder what inside spot you've been hiding in for the past few years. Their Sergeant and Lieutenant are probably happy that they aren't getting paged at 0400 in the morning for some really stupid shit.

Professional what...?

I'm certain they are not professional weed smokers - cuz if they were, they never would have been caught.

Not sure what you mad about - Tact/Gangs/TRU are ALL numbers based...this is not your father's police department anymore Toto.

Put away the Vitalis or Protein 29 and go get you some hair gel!

Gotta go - there is a carload of illegals out there, and I need my contact cards!

Hate to disagree with you SCC, but this is a pussy arrest. Locking someone up for a few bags of weed who did not give you a hard time is pussy police!!! (Unless you believe he is selling it) Same as all of the drinking on the public way arrests. And the soliciting unlawful business arrests!! Here's some advice to all the officers (hint hint... TRU, SOS, TACT, & GANG TEAMS) who make these arrests...GO FIND A REAL CRIMINAL AND ARREST HIM AND SEND HIM AWAY FOR A FEW YEARS!! That is real police work. Anything else is just laziness. 2nd Hint... Try not letting your arrestee get out on an i-bond before YOU even get off duty. It's so sad to see out "elite" SOS unit turn into the TRU unit. But they have. 6 cops and 1 sgt on a TVB with 2 bags of weed. SCC, THIS IS THE TRUE PUSSIFICATION OF THE DEPARTMENT!! And I hate to hear that You feel otherwise. Sad!

Hey, our tact and gang teams routinely bring in people for d.o.t.p.w , gambling, etc..

I'm not a head case nor am I a survivalist and I live in 016. I have however heard about what the area 2 gun team does from a friend of mine who is the brother in law of a copper. And what they do is inexcusable. Going after middle class law abiding citizens/hunters who happen to keep rifles for hunting in their homes. Executing S/W's at said home in the hope of impressing their Sgt. or Lt. or running up the numbers. True terrorists who have absolutely no regard for the Constitution if you ask me. They ought to be ashamed of themselves.

i think the point here is that quality has been thown out the window for the all consuming persuit of empty numbers. rather than take the time to put together a good case against a real bad guy these teams are being pressured to beat last year/monthes numbers. so instead of lockups/courts handling felonies resulting from search warrants they are clogged with addicts/recreationalists.

the so-called professional probably bought it from a gangbanger. Makes perfect sense for the gang team to go after him. Get a toe hold on a little fish, maybe he'll take him up the ladder to the dealers. That is what good police would do. Appearently the "professional" was too interested in protecting his illegal drug source and not his community as a whole. So he has a court date now. Bring a lawyer, fool! That's the problem with America today. It's only a problem untill you get caught. Maybe you should not be hanging around friends that do drugs? Maybe you should go take a pee test if you are so offended by pot smokers getting locked up.

That was one of your best posts. I know the Sgt. and the Lt. could care less on the weight; a cb is a cb. As far as your father's police department comment, years ago there was a point system for each head you got and gun recovered. Twenty years ago it was about heads and twenty years from now it will be about heads. And if you don't realize it then get your head out of your rear end.

To various commentators critical of our post who appear to have reading disabilities:

We never said it was a super duper quality arrest. It is obviously just a number. Period. Nothing more. We were taking the person to task who, for whatever reason, would openly advocate committing Official Misconduct on an open internet forum. We purposefully didn't give our opinion on the arrest because we weren't there. Maybe the "professional" was an asshole and needed to get locked up. Regardless of the the reason for arrest, the point of this post was THE COMMENT advocating actions that will get you indicted, fired and jailed in the current political climate. Stop reading into what we haven't written.

As to the comment calling us a northsider and not dumping the weed, first of all, read the previous paragraph. Second, we aren't going to comment on what actions have or haven't been taken on traffic stops - there is no statute of limitations on Official Misconduct. If you don't think Cline, Daley and Devine wouldn't throw you under the bus in a second
to further their careers, you're a fucking moron.

And to the other tiny brain, sure we've made pimpy arrests. We needed numbers and court dates every so often. Anyone who says they haven't is either a liar or hasn't arrested anybody. We've also made some spectacular pinches that imprisoned some people for decades and made the papers. We still work the street and have done so for the vast majority of our careers and due to our lack of clout, will more than likely continue to do so for the foreseeable future.

God knows this wasnt a "Westside" district Tact/or Gang arrest. In districts where drugs are falling out of the sky, these geniuses sandbag people for Reckless Conduct and Soliciting Unlawful Bullshit. Their ears are better than the rest of their senses because they can always hear BOOBOO yelling "rocks, blows" yet don't have the time or the skill to find the dope. Also, Streets and San. must be swamped cleaning up all the broken glass from those thrown bottles on the Reckless Conduct arrests. The 011 district lockup is littered with these two year wonder Officer Pinnochio arrests.

Offical Misconduct for looking at arrest reports? I do not think so. I Department reports are for Department use only. You work for the Department, you can view the reports and learn how they are to be done correctly and in other cause incorrectly.

No if you go an then use the information that you gained from those reports for personal resaons, say confronting an officer or asking one to drop charges then you are looking at Offical misconduct.

Mearly viewing reports and it being recorded by you pc number is not Offical Misconduct

And the expect to get a pass, be it ona traffic stop, ANOV or arrest. I work in a yuppie area and believe me, they are worse than most gangbangers out there in their disrespect and "me" attitude towards the law. How many shotbags have you locked up for pimpy shit that they just realized "it's my time to go" and they went. But the yuppies out there all have that "I have a job and pay your salary" attitude so we should put ourselves in the trickbag and let them go, right? NO! If they break the law they should be held to the same standard that we are. If you're educated you should respect the law even more and not break the law. With that said I don't know if I would have made the arrest either but I bet there were enough circumstances that waranted the arrest.

We can both agree that it's a numbers game if you are on tact or gangs.... it IS expected that you bring in heads no matter what even on slow days. Hell, I wish I could bring in a gun or two everyday. But I do have to settle with a drinker or a nickle bag more often than not just to keep the bosses off our backs with these BS numbers.

But you are also saying that because this guy was a "professional", he should have been let go? BULLSHIT! You, "nickel bag-a-weed yo!", are the the jag and the asshole. You are saying we should only screw over the lower-class but not the upper-class professional yuppie. (isn't this discrimination?). Is this how you use your discretion? Throw him back in the pond if he or she is a professional?

Who do you think is buying the most of the weed (and other drugs) from the gangbanging drug dealers, you goof?! PROFESSIONALS!!! DUH! They come off the expressway in their VW's, Land rovers, and Volvos from the rich suburbs to score their shit. So he was caught with .4 grams of weed.... so friggin' what? He's a "professional", he can afford a lawyer. Besides, if he smokes weed he was bound to get caught sooner or later. Professional or gangbanger... they know the risk.

And since when does it take a couple of hours to process an arrest for >1.0 grams of weed??? Shouldn't take no more than 45 min to an hour once you are in the station with your partner. So I guess that means you don't know what you are doing, huh?

Keep letting the criminals go with their .4 grams of weeds while you're waiting to catch them with a gun or committing an armed robbery. Meanwhile leave them standing on the corner while the good citizens watch in disbelief as the police let the criminals run the streets. Locking them up every chance you get sends a message to them and the liberal judges like the one in BR43 that they are not wanted around. It makes them move to another area where the real police are looking to make that quality pinch. However in the mean time three of them are trying to shoot at rivals and miss. They kill a mother walking with her children. The real police make that big arrest of three murderers (good job, quality pinch). Maybe, just maybe if they were sitting around waiting for an I-bond things would have turned out differently. Maybe they were high on that little bit of weed when they decided to go shoot someone. Maybe if the police locked them up enough they would move to the suburbs, maybe some children would have their mother and maybe we could all live happily ever after.

Never second guess your fellow POs for making an arrest and play Monday morning quarterback. Asshole probably deserved it and shame on him for carring .4g of any illegal substance.

At least in the ghetto you might get some respect, the yuppies up north hate your ass and tell it straight to your face. They tell you how to do your job because they pay your salary and then get CR# if they're not happy with they way you talk to them.

Lock the fuckers up. You must be the "REAL POLICE." Give me a break, not the law breakers. It might be a pimpy arrest, but you do not know who you are dealing with out there. Better to do a little paper and computer work and play it safe. Who knows who is watching. Plus whatever you put on your PDT is being reviewed. I've been doing dope pinches for 15 years and it's better to play it safe and CYA!

"Professional" or "businessmen" - lock all of them up when they break the law. Do it for .001 grams. I remember when a bar fight ended in the bar, now "professional" or "businessmen" cry all the way home. And to the comment about finding a jury, this "professional" will have to disclose the fact that he was arrested and will be kick off the jury anyways. Lock them up.

Hey dumb fuck if you read the article you would see that you STILL need to be 18 to purchase a firearm, the writer was simply poking fun at the fact that the state police issues a FOID card which for someone UNDER the age of 18 means they can by law use a firearm.

I don't see why the fuss over who locks up whom, or why. Last time I checked, marijuana was illegal. Lots of people are throwing the word "illegal" around quite a lot nowadays. "Illegal immigrants" is just one of them. And wasn't there some kind of documentary that linked "illegal drugs" to $$$, to gangs, to guns (which leads to other crimes), to arms dealers, to more $$$$, to terrorists? So the a-hole got locked up. What's it to you? No reason we can't make some of all that $$$$ being thrown around.

Child finds marijuana in Happy Meal

The Associated Press

May 16, 2007, 12:25 PM CDT

OTTAWA, Ill. -- A 17-year-old fast-food employee is facing drug charges after allegedly hiding marijuana in a Happy Meal that ended up with a young child.

Ottawa Police Chief Brian Zeilmann said a man and his three children went through a McDonald's drive-through Monday to order Happy Meals.

One of the children, an 8-year-old girl, found a lighter, pipe, and bag of marijuana in her Happy Meal, Zeilmann said. Her father went to the police.

Sad!

Randy Weaver was a whack job suvivalist who sold sawed off weapons to a ATF agent and then he jumped bail.

I bet you loved it when the Waco bunch opened up on the ATF when they went to get the .50 Cals and the rest of the automatic weapons.

I bet you had Tim McVeigh's 6 when he blew up the Murrah building and killed a bunch of coppers, federal employees and little kids in a day care center.

The only thing sad about the Weaver case is that his wife and baby died. But Weaver provoked it and the FBI put the sniper out on a spit to appease the media who bought Weaver's bullshit.

You Sir--Are a Whack Job

And, I'm not kidding.

As A 20 Plus year Veteran ,15 of which have been working on various Tactical Units, I would say that it has been nothing but a numbers game. The Boss wants to look good and he does this by the number of arrests in his district. More to the point is the number of arrests on a Beat where the citizens are complaining of a specific problem. It is up to the individual Officer to decide if He wants to make less Felony Pinches, which take time,or more midemeanor arrests so he could stack his numbers.I always did the former and never got any grief from Bosses.

It never ceases to amaze me how we sit around and complain about how the media never gets the full story and puts their own biased spin on things, and then we turn around and do it to each other. Big deal if your asshole buddy got pinched for weed. I would look up the arrest too if it were my friend, but it would be to laugh at him for being stupid. He was wrong, got caught, and when its thrown out in court for weight will move on. But your outraged over his arrest because hes a friend of yours, and you have only your buddies word for whatever happened. But its just a pimpy arrest right? Well I'll bet your buddy wont be back in the area buying weed anymore will he, and that solves half the problem right there. And yes, the bear, or eagle does hunt small fish and flies when there is nothing else to eat at the time.
Once again, if you were not there, try giving your fellow coppers the benefit of the doubt. Thats what you would want isnt it?
And to the guy bitching about the retired po getting locked up in 4, again, you werent there. And a retired P.O. has no more right to "inspect" an accident report then joe citizen does. His wife would have the only copy they are entitled to. If the desk people want to dig it out for em, thats up to them, but it sounds like they didnt want to and that is where it should end. I'm thinking he didnt just say thanks anyway and walk out.

After working amongst your "professionals" and your ghetto crowd, I have always said I'd rather deal with the ghetto crowd. The "professional" always seems to know the law 10 times more than you, claims brutality if you just raise your voice, and believes you have no right to even touch them. In the ghetto, they know, and even expect, what might happens if they run or mouth off.

Do these "professionals" care about YOU or your FAMILY when they get these crazy law suits on you? Do they consider YOU are a "professional" as well, who was just doing his job? NO!

Nowadays, it seems everybody hates and blames the police for anything. Therefore, to please them, LOCK ALL THEIR ASSES UP! Our own city and department has no hesitation to screw you and doesn't care about you or your family. Fuck um all...lock um ALL up.

What exactly is the deal with "hair gel" police so I can use the term correctly.

THE OFFICIAL DEFINTION:
Hair gel is a hairstyling product that is used to stiffen hair into a particular hairstyle. The results it produces are usually similar to but stronger than those of hair spray and weaker than those of hair glue or hair wax.

THE CPD DEFINITION:
In the Chicgo Police Department venacular, HAIR GEL is used to commonly describe the newer police officer, also known as the “College Educated” officer; (which also brings about the remark: too much college – not enough high school).

It seems that any old timer will tell you that if you have not hit the mandatory age of reason (ten or more years on the job – which flucutates according to each district, and each old timer) then you are too new, and you wear hair gel.

Hope this helps you with your son, just tell him get Protein 29 - the old timers love it!

To every moron who thinks this was bad arrest, Fuck Off!!!! Most of the clowns blasting this arrest probably back Rudy Guliani. Do you know how Rudy took back New York??? He had his police lock everybody up. If you break the law you go to jail. If Chicago ever adopted this policy the shitheads would be running scared and nobody would dare mouth off to us like they do.

To many coppers on this job are only looking to add more bogus awards to their resumes. As another poster said, the soldiers lead to the generals. You can't start at the top.

Laws are written in black and white and apply to everyone. Sounds like a bunch of racists think only duke, jose, or will should go to jail for minor offences. The scales of justice are blind. Just because everyone who actually goes to court knows the case will be tossed means nothing. If the judge or states attorney drops the case so be it. The arresting officer did his or her job. Tell your legislators to change the law if you think its pimpy. Thats what the liberals do everyday.

TO THE ORIGINAL POSTER

I spoke to the PO's involved. They told me that this guy lied several times during the stop. He also may have just toked up. Would it have met your arrest standards if they had DUIed him?

To make matters worse, the guy was operating on a fresh ticket issued by CPD after posting his DL as bond, but he had a just issued DL in his possession. Can he do that?

But my favorite part of the story is this. This guy works for WF Mortgage. He tried to get off by telling the POs that he was initiating a program to get cheap mortgages for cops and that he had several cop friends. He was given the opportunity several times to contact one of these cops to vouch for him. He would not call any of his cop friends. The POs believed he was lying. Now it is obvious that his only cop friend is you and you are probably some IAD rat that the POs wouldn’t have had any respect for. The POs gave him more breaks in this case than charges. Not good enough for you though.

I guess you want a someone high and abusing drugs arranging your mortgage and having access to your financial and personal information.

The POs involved feel different and I agree with them. Not with you.

You had better pay this guys legal fees because now I’m sure that the POs involved have become motivated to prosecute this guy thanks to your anonymous critique. Great Job!

But what I just don’t understand is this. Since you are such a good friend to this guy why didn’t you reach out to the POs rather than blast them here on the public blog like a little punk? You know where they work. Heck, At the least show up in court with your boy!

If you can’t meet these minimums then I suggest you drink a big glass of shut the fuck up!

This is typical of what is wrong with this department these days. If somebody is out there working, allbeit not up to someone else's standards everyone picks on them. Peolpe need to woory about themsleves and stop watching what the other guys are doing.

I know when I worked a Tact team and yes it was on the Northside, sometimes we would grab a quick head to make the boss happy and then work on the guys we really wanted to lock up. Eeverybody should agree this takes time and patience.

I'm sure I'll catch shit for being a company guy, but if a head a day kept me out of a beat car writing paper on domestics all day, then a company guy I am. Making the Sgt happy also allowed me extra time to spend with my family or the ability to go out for a beer once in a while. If you don't agree then evidently you just don't get it.

All I have to go by is the original post. I wasnt there, and I doubt you were either. The original post mentions nothing about her not getting her copy. It just says retired po comes in and wants to look at the report, and after being denied, ended up being locked up for disorderly. I am not the one doing the second guessing, the original poster is about the p.o.'s involved. So your getting snippy with the wrong person. And no matter what district you are in, nobody wants to lock up a 67 y/o retired p.o., so what does that tell you about what went on? Again, wasnt there but you cant get bent out of shape for people commenting on a post when the poster doesnt post all the facts. And I still stand behind the overall message of my post, give your fellow officers the benefit of the doubt. And try not being so naive as to believe everything that is posted here under the blanket of anonymity.

Retired police officers should be treated like every other police officers, as a brother. But beacuase many of the new police officers take thi job beacuse they can get free tuition at Jerry Lewis, they are not real policeman. It sickens me to think that a police officer who worked in the 60's 70's or 80',lost 8, 9 officers a year to gunfire, had shit thrown at them at the Democratic convention, Black Panther assasinations, has to put up with a 3 year, hair jell, Notre Dame Grad's disrespect. Just like the ghetto when it comes to small amounts and other petty charges. I always use discretion when it come to making an arrest, but if the guy holding the weed didn't have it on him, he wouldn't get locked up. He's the idiot even though it's a small amount. Why did he get stopped in the first place?

What's the difference between this incident and when a "professional" is walking down the street with a open beer near Wrigley and he gets stopped and then arrested for dopw? If he didn't have it in his possession, he wouldn't have to worry about getting arrested. And they're usually arrested for being &^%$@ drunk and out of control.

True, they could have given him a break, but why would a SGT or LT care what kind of arrest they got? Are you going to start talking to everyone in the department about 1-rock or 1-bag drop cases???

Also, maybe as in every frikin incident, THERE MAY BE MORE TO THE STORY! OH, maybe that's the 023rd district LEVEL II DOC---ZERO TOLERENCE...LOL.
