Cease Fire Loses Budget
Here's our problem with Cease Fire - it treats gangs like a mini United Nations. Like these gangs are anything but law breaking thugs, bringing narcotics, guns and mayhem to neighborhoods. Cease Fire organizes parades, rallies and insists on negotiating "treaties" between warring factions over dope turf.
These gangs don't own the streets. The streets are supposed to be owned by the taxpayers and citizens for their use, not for illegal commerce and all Cease Fire does is grant a veneer of legitimacy to criminals.
They also appear to have sloppy record keeping, making them low level criminals themselves, which really isn't surprising as they hire "reformed" gangsters all the time.
Channel 5 and Channel 7 cover the protests, but we'd rather see the $6 million spent somewhere else.

I would like FOP to mandate the City give an honest reporting about the mas amount of employees detailded. The rank and file deserve a fair and honest reporting.
I totally agree SCC. Here's a lightbulb moment, how about maybe throwing HALF that money into our neighborhood schools in Chicago! Then we could actually use them, instead of sending our kids to private schools!

They recognize and legitimize gang membership. They do put on a good show and a good front for the media and the public. I was surprised their payroll and operating expenses were as high as they are.

I know I've arrested a Cease Fire "worker" who also ran because he KNEW he had a warrant, and this was right after he led a march! So this pillar of society not only committed a crime, but is so interested in doing the right thing now that he didn't show up to court and resisted arrest! I'm sure I'm not the only one who has locked up one of these dirtbags either.

Two coppers lied and let a Sgt. hang. One is now in 018-3rd Watch,D.S. The other works 016-3rd Watch,C.B. Daddy's clout helped D.S. out of many jams.
