Officer Hurt

  • A Chicago police officer was injured while making an arrest that turned into a violent confrontation at a pharmacy in the Lincoln Park neighborhood.

Police say a man and woman entered the CVS in the 1700 block of North Sheffield Avenue and allegedly began shoplifting around 10:30 Monday morning. The uniformed officer chased the woman outside where she struggled to arrest her. The man ran away with CVS employees chasing him. The officer was stabbed in the hand, but managed to call for help. Police arrested both suspects. They also checked a car parked outside the pharmacy. It's the car the two suspects drove to the store before the incident.
Nice job by responding units. A speedy recovery to the officer involved.

Hope the officer is ok! To bad he did not shoot and kill the prick! But then again just read todays daily southtown article about the copper who shot the home invader at 60 and austin the other day, and it stated they had a "round table" but the results will not be revealed until ops does its investigation! AN INVESTIGATION INTO WHY SOMEONE FROM TINLEY PARK BROKE INTO A COPPERS HOME AND WAS SHOT! COMMON SENSE ASSHOLES AT OPS THE CASE SHOULD BE CLOSED GOOD SHOOTING TO BAD THE BAD GUY WAS NOT DOA!

This is why they should always asign officrs to a shoplifter, not just one. They is no such thing as a routine arrest. Even an offender in cuffs can be dangerous. Until we run a name check, we don't know who the bad guy is and what they may be wanted for. Even at that, what if the perp just killed his girlfriend and her kids and ran down to 7-11 for a bottled water and forgot his wallet.

There is no such thing as routine ever! Thinking there is can get a copper killed.

I bet there was not a felony charge against the offender that did the stabbing.

I'm not a cop, but I've been meaning to check out this site for a while as I've seen Ben Joravsky of the Reader actually make reference to it. I am very fond of the men in blue and I am sad to see what this city has done to make you guys so powerless. It sickens me. I have a lot of friends and family out in the streets, doing what you guys do. It's a damn shame and cases like what happened over in Clearing or Garfield Ridge (whatever it is) say as much. I'm glad he didn't kill the guy - can you imagine the headlines if he had?

One did not get away - they were both apprehended. Charged with Attempt theft because the officer prevented them from actually exiting the store with proceeds AND the female offender was charged with attempt murder of the officer. The male offender may have been charged with attempt theft because he had no physical contact with the officer. Fled immediately and was captured outside Best Buy by a detective in the area and employees of Best Buy.

Thank God the officer is doing ok. She suffered a real bad slash to her hand, and a large slash THROUGH her vest just next to the star. Could have been much worse.

I was hoping I could find something abouy the Candlelight ceremony at the Chicago Police Memorial tonight. Just because people don't like Phat Phil isn't a reason to ignore honoring those killed serving and protecting the citizens of Chicago.

In regards to the Police Memorial Ceremony tonight.

I was downtown at Buckingham Fountain and you should have seen the way the high rise buildings were lit up with CPD ..it was very very cool.

As far as the police families, We are extremely disappointed with their poor showing on saturday at memorial park where the Casper Lauer Motorcycle Ride stopped to pay respect to those killed in the line of duty.

Not one representative from the CPD was there to say thanks for coming out and only 1 member of the goldstar families thought it was worth coming out to say thanks to those of us who rode on saturday.

Poor showing by both , shame on you!

----------------------

Will members of OPS have "round table" when I'm dead? Will they sue the perp? Get money from the asshole. Instead of prison can this person give a media address.

Sometimes deep down I want the members of the media and OPS to be beat on and become victims of crime, or better yet, NO. To gain victory over criminals trying to kill, beat, or rob them only to be sued then lose their job, and monday morning quarterbacked.

According to my sources in Area 3, the officer stopped to buy a bottle of water. When she went into the store, the manager informed her that they had 2 people for shoplifting. She was not assigned this job, she walked into it.

As she went to cuff the male, he broke and ran. The female pulled out a knife and started stabbing the P.O., catching her off guard. She was severly cut in her gun hand when she raised it to deflect the second cut (the first one cutting through her vest by her neck).

The offender then threw the knife as she was running away and was caught outside by assiting units.

She was charged with attempted murder and agg battery.

THIS WORKING NO CLOUT POLICE OFFICER SAYS: THANK GOD THE P.O. WHO WAS STABBED IS DOING TO BE ALRIGHT, OUR PRAYERS ARE WITH HER. AS AN OFFICERS WHO HAS HANDLED MANY SHOPLIFTERS, BE VERY CAREFUL. ALAWAYS HANDCUFF, AND IF NEEDED CALL FOR AN ASSIST. REMEMBER ALLOT OF THESES MUTTS ARE DOPERS AND WOULD KILL THEIR FIRST BORN FOR A HIT. ALSO ALLOT OF THEM HAVE A HISTORY OF THEFT WHICH MEANS IF THEY GET CAUGHT AGAIN ITS A FELONY
STAY SAFE AND GOD BLESS THE CPD.

Do you know who Casper Lauer was ? Obviously you are an idiot and dont understand why there should have been more representation from Goldstar Families and a High ranking official from the CPD.

We ride every year for the families and the money raised goes to them in the name of Casper Lauer.

You are an ignorant goof and obviously not a person who believes in respect.

GO AWAY GOOF

Your ignorance is amazing.

First off asshole if you are gonna say "We are extremely disappointed..." then have the balls to identify yourself and the "We" you are talking for. Who do you think you are that the loved ones of our honored dead should show up to kiss your ass? Haven't these families been through enough without egotistical assholes like you thinking they should show up to thank you for riding your fucking bike in honor of their dead loved ones? We owe the Gold Star Families not the other way around. Did you ride your bike to honor our fallen or did you ride to get your ass kissed? You are a jag off and owe the Gold Star Families an apology. You are a disgrace to the uniform and the job and like the Fat Man you use the monument to our honored fallen to stroke your own ego.

RELATIVE to THIS BLOG TOPIC.......

(Was there, first-hand)

Whomever wrote the below info was 'right-on'

PS Kudos to the ASA from Felony Revue for a nice job!
My feelings is that because he was a 'TRIAL' Lawyer ASA in Br 46 (Jury Trials) prior to his stint in Felony Revue, he had the experience to investigate and appropriately make the right presentation/charges.

Bottom line...Police 2 Bad Guys, 'nuttin!'
Stay safe my brothers...
Get well soon, 'Pam'

Photo in scum times showed P/o on ground. Thank you lord she is alive and well but how much nerve damage has been done to her fire arm hand. This bull shit operation will try to put her off on disability at probably fifty percent. Since she is older and on the street(cloutless) the merits that run this whore organization will not create a job for her inside at the courts or 35th St etc etc. At 26th street seven year female cpd court officer got pissed when we asked to use the pax.

Thank you Lord for taking care of this unknown p/o I only wish the 9/11 highjackers crashed into 35th street or 26 and cal.

That's a pretty ignorant thing to say. Gosh, terrorists, I wish you would have taken out CPD Headquarters? PLEASE, sober up before you return to this blog, you're only embarassing yourself, and our noble profession.
And when have you known anyone seriously hurt in the line of duty that the Dept. didn't find a job for if they were unable to work the street (and wanted to stay active)?
