Chicagoist just got off the phone with Gregory P. Longhini, assistant secretary of the Chicago Transit Board, who wanted to give us the CTA's version of the rumor about CTA board member Rev. Charles E. Robinson's visit to Miranda Smith, the CTA employee accused of identity theft.
"He went over [to the police station] at the request of her grandmother," Longhini says, adding that Robinson is Smith's grandmother's pastor. "It is common for a minister to be asked to help someone in jail. Is it common for someone to flash a CTA [board] ID? No. But he goes to the station all the time in his role as a minister." Longhini says that Robinson had "no idea" that Smith's arrest had anything to do with her employment at the CTA, and that when Robinson found out, he left the station. Longhini says he thinks Robinson "referred" Smith to the CTA to help her get a job, but that she went through the same hiring process as anyone else.
And as a side note, guess who Longhini decides to blame?
- The story started picking up steam on Second City Cop, and Longhini says he read the post over there after someone mentioned it to him. "I found that racist blog. It's horrible .... That blog is disgusting — seeing who they linked to — I turned the damn thing off." He added that anyone who wants to tell a scandalous story should "come out and say their name."
Now, how about that other phone call? The one from the "golden boy?"

Longhini is a damn liar. I work in Area 4 and was there that night. I didn't work that case, but I know the facts. Rev. Robinson arrived and wanted to talk to her, that part is true but nothing else about Longhini's version is true. Why would Rev. Robinson go to Area 4 all the time to "help people" as Longhini says? Reverends are not allowed to talk to anyone under arrest, juvenile or adult. Juveniles are allowed to be with their parent/guardian, or lawyer while under arrest. Adults can speak to a lawyer at a police station, but that's it. So who exactly is Rev. Robinson helping when he goes to Area 4 all the time? The only person he would ever be allowed to talk to while under arrest would be one of his children under the age of 17. So that's bullshit that he goes there all the time. I've never seen him there before. And Longhini lies when he said Rev. Robinson did not know what she was under arrest for. He knew, because when he was denied access to the arrestee in his capacity as a reverend he then pulled out his CTA identification and said he was a board member. Said this was a CTA matter and he needed to talk to her in his capacity as a board member. He only left after Area 4 told the CTA to get him out of there. It finally took a phone call from CTA board president Carol Brown herself to get the reverend out of Area 4.
It's in the script for dealing with any conservative by a democrat...claim their facts don't matter because they are morally corrupt (in this case an accusation of racism). And in the script for dealing with whistleblowers by the corrupt city..."come out and state your name." Are we really living in that much of a socialist/dictatorship that someone actually would say that? Amazing they don't even try to hide it.

In NY they gridlocked the city by making numerous traffic stops causing much confusion and traffic backups. Guilliani settled the contract the next day.

Do a search of all the negative stories about the CPD over there, and you'll find all sorts of transplants from the suburbs, Michigan, Ohio, and Iowa jumping all over you guys. You know, things like "unjustified shootings," "police brutality," "racism" and the like. They're a bunch of wannabee hipsters over there waiting for mommy and daddy's check to clear so they can go down the the Innertown Pub or Skylark to drink $2 PBRs.
REV. MEANS NOTHING ON THE LAW BOOKS AND THEY WOULD KINDLY BE SHOWN THE DOOR. HE WAS TRYING TO INTERFERE BECAUSE OF HIS POSITION WITH THE CTA.

I am not a cop and I have no cops in my family. I am a political moderate. I am also a regular reader of Chicagoist.
This current CTA story shows that cops have a lot of supporters out there. We are the silent majority. You don't hear from us, but we are HERE. Unfortunately, the media makes it seem that most people distrust cops. WRONG.
You guys are respected, as you can see from reading the posts on Chicagoist.com. That is an example of a bunch of civilians seeing the truth. The truth is that SCC is a necessary site and that bogus racism charges in our town must be ridiculed wherever they arise. Great work, SCC!

I got mine for free, the $14.95 is just for a card to carry in your wallet - If I find $15 bucks on the street I will pick one up to continue the joke but I'm not giving these guys my money.
The good reverend only left when the cta board pres asked him to? He did'nt leave when told to by the police? He was'nt placed under arrest because he refused to leave? never thought i would see the day when the police department was scared of some theiving ass bullshit (i got my certificate on the internet) reverend. who ever was in charge in area 4 that night, should do a visual and physical inspection to see if ya still got a pair.
SCC YOU SHOULD REPOST THAT PREVIOUS INFO ABOUT ROBINSON RELATED TO HIS DONATIONS TO VARIOUS POLITICIANS. MAYBE THE MEDIA WOULD WORK HARDER IF YOU SPELLED OUT EVERYTHING FOR THEM.
THEY BARELY UNCOVER DALEYS RELATIVE CONTRACTS AND BRIDGEPORT LAND DEALS ONLY BECAUSE SOMEONE DROPS A DIME AND SPELLS IT OUT.

Yes we are. And it is only going to get worse.
I am going to get my card from the Universal Life Church. Then I am going to get a store front with an apartment upstairs, put a cross in the window and name my church.
Once all of that is accomplished I am going to give sanctuary to young, nubile, Eastern European women who are illegal aliens.
