What's Up With FOP?

Password required site?

It's not like they had an open comments board like we used to have where everything could get out of hand. And occasionally, they even had some helpful info that we linked to and gave people the heads-up on.

Granted, we did think it was a bit much, having our contract up there for everyone to see and the General Orders and such for test preparation being freely available to the public. Some of that stuff probably should have been behind a password protected area just to keep media, lawyers and reverends thinking that we have secrets.

Election time is coming and we'd like to be able to link to stuff. What gives?

UPDATE: Everything back normal. Any explanation Rich Aguilar?

But I tried to go on FOP and I see that you have to be a registered user to view it.....OKAY I'll bite
so, how does one register to view fop, all i see is a box demanding
user name and password....
so how do you become a user and how do you get a password..didn't get any clue from the page that was showing

The FOP has spent over $60,000 of FOP dues member's monies to throw out Harej and Hallinan for being FRATERNAL. When Local 7 argues FOP Loacal 7 does not suffer from the poterntial cost of this litigation, it needs to be discussed that the State FOP takes up some of the cost of this litigation. FOP members voted to give the State FOP a greater per capita tax, so the State FOP is responsible for paying for part of the litigation. The Chicgo FOP pays for the dues of the state FOP, so Chicago FOP members are paying for the cost of this litigation.

lift residency and in exchange for nixing the 364 days of medical per ailment! give everyone 12 sick days a year which could roll over indefinately and let us move out of the shitty! That would be all the incentive NOT to abuse the medical while allowing us to live like normal human beings!

THAT is some of the smartest money FOP has ever spent! I wonder what percentage of the anti-FOP bashing posts come from these two goofballs? ( 85-90% )

ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR FUCKING MIND ???? what if you have a heart attack, stroke, bad reaction to food, break a leg skiing, fall and break an ankle-arm-hand ? you are gonna need alot more than 12 days you goof. I HATE the residency rule, but, it was there when we all took this job. The medical is a very important part of this job. Don't tell me that exercise and diet are the only thing that contributes to illness, there is also family history and genetics. I have a friend that was in seemingly perfect health and had a brain aneurysm. He's fine now, but, needed alot longer than 12 days. This type of thing can happen to ANYONE on this job. This medical program is not a perk, but, a necessity on this job, due to weird hours, stress, and the abuse that our bodies take. This should not be given up for ANY reason. If i go to work everyday and may possibly not make it home...that is stress enough. To possibly get sick because of that stress and not get paid after 12 days while I recuperate ? I have never used this term before, but, you are an ASSHAT !!!!!

AMEN!!! One reason they won't lift residency is because there would be no way to check on medical abusers and we have alot of them.

Here is something for the FOP to chew on and I'll sit down and wait for my answer to this question:

Why is my salary and the salary of every city employee on the website of the Better Government Association?

Why did I have to find out by accident?

Why didn't the FOP lodge a complaint of some type? Even if the BGA tells them to piss off, they still would be on the record as standing up for us.

Jay Stewart is nothing more than a politician who hasn't been elected to anything. Will he publish the salary he made when he worked for Pat Quinn's office?

Yes, I agree with you that the medical is more important than residency. Much more important. It would be hard to support a family if something catastrophic happens to you, the bread winner with only 12 days of medical. If residency is more important than the medical then get a job in the burbs. Try the Post Office. Watch what you wish for.

You have to give to get...

I wish it could be negotiated but according to the FOP residency is not even negotiable.. So we can just snap back to reality or maybe wish/dream for better things and what you would do, like winning th e lotto.

Wrong, it can be negotiated. What it cannot be is Arbitrated. There is a difference.

We can agree to remove residency we cannot bring it before an arbitrator to forcibly get it removed without overtunring that cursed state law.

yeah...right, retire at 40 ? callback ??? i have no clout or tits and not injured on the job. callback would be a tough sell. if i get sick because of the creeps that i come into contact with and didn't know the bad guy was sick at the time of contact, i get nothing. try and tell a boss that you contacted a person the other day and he must have been sick, can i report it now ?? he will have a heart attack from laughing so hard at you. i exercise 4-5 times a week, what if i'm trying to stay in shape so that i can better perform my job and i strain my back lifting weights or pull a muscle running ? i only deserve 12 paid days off ? whoever said to go to the post office was RIGHT ON THE MONEY ! lemme guess, you are NEVER EVER EVER gonna get sick, right ?? asshole !
