Reality Check

Great job by all the coppers and detectives who worked to catch the murderer of U of C doctoral candidate Amadou Cisse.

Now let's join fantasy land, currently in progress:
  • Students who live near the crime scene had been on edge until hearing about the arrest.

"Relief. It's scary to think you're in danger, so are your fellow classmates," student Kendra Grimmett said.
  • Students are pleased at the security changes, but some say security can't replace the importance of building relationships with people off campus, too.

"It's not us versus the community," said Ben Esparza, chair of the U. of C. College Council. "It's us trying to reach out and also be a part of the community, and there's things that go along with that."
  • "We continue to be enormously saddened by Amadou Cisse's death," Webber said. [...] This is also a moment, however, of a second tragedy, and that's that a 16-year-old old is being charged with this crime, and that too is a tragedy for our city."
So evidently, the U of C campus has been moved some place far away from the lovely neighborhoods of Hyde Park, Woodlawn, Kenwood, Washington Park, and a 5 minute bus ride from Grand Crossing and Englewood if people feel safe after the arrest of one murderer.

The comment by the chair of the U of C College Council is just stupid liberal claptrap run amok.

And this U of C VP of Community and Government Affairs Henry Webber really ought to be horsewhipped, comparing the murder of an unarmed student to the "tragedy" of a 16 year old predator being charged with murder. What an ass.

I work in 003. They have a long way to go before anyone can feel safe in Hyde Park... Billions of dollars, a lot of building and a lot of convincing has to be done to change the neighborhoods around it...

There's plenty of empty lots to build on! Especially 63rd st. Now if they could only build on those empty lots and convince people to move there!

Have the idiot U of C students ever been to Kenwood HS....would they want to be part of that community??

They say it's because they watched the movie "original gangster" with Denzel Washington.

So basically it wasn't their fault. Just misunderstood black youths.

I have locked up more than a few shitbags for robberies down by U of C.

The majority of the time, the college students and faculty do not want to press charges. This is after I have busted my ass to get the offenders.

The fact they still want to embrace this "community" speaks to the mental disorder of liberalism.

Go ahead and sing cum ba yah and hold hands. Don't be surprised when you get pistol whipped and robbed by your new pals.

Fools.

NOTHING HAS CHANGED!

Years ago, working Task Force or SOG or Gangs South or SOS no it wasn’t SOS, I spent time working in Hyde Park. I was told by the old ones that it was a, DIFFERENT WORLD. I had several arrests for Robbery; all the victims refused to press charges. Unbelievably all the reasons given were the same, he must have needed the money, jewelry etc. to get food. After awhile I just gave up on Hyde Park.

VOTE REPUBLICAN
AN OLD REVOLVER GUY.

What a group of people so smart and yet so DUMB!!!!

Must be real nice living in la la land in your head.

The crime will never disappear, not in cook county where the only way to get rid of shit bag off the streets is wait for him to get gunned downed by his peers. I am sure that all these shit bags that did this crime have records and wouldn't have still been on the anywhere else but here.

Worked TARA in 021 a couple of times......Those UofC liberals are getting picked off left and right by those ghetto thugs. Of course, most of those pussy victims want to write the robbers a check and invite them to dinner because they feel so bad for the offender.

Nice work on catching offender. My baby wasn't bad..he just hang around the wrong crowd.WTF? Always someone else's fault. Can't blame po po, so you blame society on your lack of parenting skills. Go have 10,000 more kids so we can send them killers (i.e. yo' chidren..spelled correctly) to IRAQ. That kids mom will be a great granny at 38!! But who cares, we are the fools payin the bills. hyow hyow!!

Webber spent more time talking about what a tragety it was regarding the OFFENDER then he did talking about the VICTIM.

The only tragety I see is that the VICTIM was not armed and could not defend himself againt this piece of shit.

The wrong person was taken away in the body bag that night.

Mr. Mayor lets pass some more gun laws so that no one in Chicago can defend themself against this caner you call misguided youth.

I have also heard that the U of C is going to provide this poor 16 year old MURDERER with with a lawyer to make sure he is treated fairly by our corupt system.

This is a secret don't tell anyone!!!

Be right back I have to go puke!

I hear ya buddy. I work in 021 and these atom splitters at U. of C. are unbelievable. They can build a super collider in their basements but can't cross the street by themselves. See them every night walking through Hyde Park with their lap tops around their shoulders and on their cell phones with their heads down, just waiting to be victims. A robber once told us that the easiest job in the world is being a robber in Hyde Park. Victims are clueless, can rarely I.D. you. And if you do get one in a line-up and the victim actually shows up, they give the, "Well I think it's #3 but I'm not positive". Because god forbid they send another poor innocent young man to jail. One of these goofs, after he got his property back, of course, asked if he could talk to the offender because he wanted to mentor him. What a fucking squid. From now on all property gets inventoried. At least it makes it a little more difficult for them to get their shit back.

These guys need a kick in the ass, HARD! hey dumb asses, its the NORM for these animals to do the things they do.lets face it,these animals have different mentalities then the normal society, the sooner you realize it,the better.Hyde park is waaayyy over rated, there are the rich(liberals)and there are the scums of the earth,i dont think there is anything in between. These U of C students have no idea how bad it is out there, alot of them get robbed, and the school is down playing it because of enrollment purposes.

U of C folks ought to be familiar with the Amnesty International slogan that it's better to light a single candle than it is to curse the darkness.

In our own Chicago version of a Greek Tragedy, Amadou Sisse was a blazing candle, snuffed out by the amoral punk Eric Walker.

U of C VP of "Community and Government Affairs" Henry Webber seems to think it's better to apologize to the darkness, than it is to keep the candle burning. He is an ASS.

IF you have a bug up your ass about Hyde Park, so be it. But don't harp on Rudy Nimocks. He's the real deal, and more of a boss and a MAN than most people who post here ever will be. Even in his advanced years, the man is sharp as a tack. U of C PD couldn't have a better man at the helm. The Capt. under him is a great guy too, and more than capable to step in at the helm whenever Nimocks decides to step down. The Hyde Park community is well patrolled by a combination of U of C PD and CPD units from 021.
Check the stats. 021 has far less robberies and burglaries than several so called "safe" northside districts. Far worse places to live and work than in 021. It's unfortunate that so many of our law enforcement brethren have to knock a neighborhood thats racially mixed, or a dept that has a black man at the helm. Some things never do change....

Oh just tell us there old wise one, where did we say anything about Rudy Numbnuts being black? Can you point that one out for us??? I got one for you: It's unfortunate that so many of our law enforcement brethren have to keep playing race as a trump card. Real hard to be the police when the "man" is keeping you down, aint it? Stop playing the victim all the time, your sounding like a broken record!
