I think it will do something for moral to some extent (although prob very little) since we all expected richie was going to appoint one of his black reverend backed boys. But then again, richie doesnt deal well with people that dont kiss his ass so im sure not too much will change in that regard. Well lets just see what happens, it definitely is a new day in CPD history, shortlived as it may be. I give it until June to see what this guy has planned and then i will make my decision. 6 months seems fair, by then we will know if he is truly his own man with good ideas and supports the job we do or if he is just another puppet on a string for richie and kissing all the reverends asses. Unfortunately, i WAS born and raised in chicago so until he proves otherwise im going to guess its the latter.

We can all be assured of one thing. If you screw up you will be going down. No more looking the other way. Everyone will be in the same boat. On the other hand lets see how far he goes when picking people for exempt spots, see if he backs down and gives in. Whatever he does, he's got no ties to others on this job that owe each other favors. Hell he might even put more cops on the street instead of forming more specialized units stripping the districts. I figure it will take him a few months, maybe 6, to figure how this department functions. Bosses won't be moved immediately, he'll give the bosses a song dance about not to worry about your spot just do your job. Then after a year when he finds out how incompetent some of these bosses really are he will ax them. The new broom will eventually clean better than the ones on this department.

He said he does not know what it feels like to approach a car at 2 o'clock in the morning. He feels police officers are heroes. He is going to select his own staff. He feels the Abbatte video is horrific, I agree. He understands that policing generates complaints.

Everyone needs to relax, most of the exempts that are going to leave were leaving anyway, the only new name is Williams, can't blame him though. Risley, Dulay, Garrity, Sutor and Maher were all leaving anyway, watch for Patton, McCotter, Chicewszki, Christian, Everett Johnson,Chasen, Lopez and some more Captains and Lieutenants to leave as well. Keating will stay, get another bump up but won't be the first, he isn't a black, nuff said on that.

This is all true. But what has apparently gone over your head is that he is not yet beholden to or friends with anyone in the CPD. Imagine that. On his first day on the job, he comes in and doesn't have any friends to offer a spot to. He gets resumes and organization charts and manpower allocations and realizes how absolutely screwed up things are. And his public mandate is already to fix things.
So you tell me, who even knows his phone number? Does Daley have more leverage over him for the next year than he has over Daley? Because if he walks within 12 months, it won't turn out good for Daley.
So please think about this, as its something neither you nor any other current member of the CPD have ever experienced. The guy at the top does not have any friends, or old partners. He does not belong to the same clubs or local political organizations as anyone else on the job. He has never done a favor for one person in Chicago, nor has a person in Chicago ever done a favor for him.

Don't get too excited. I've had two scumptiously gorgeous Italian men as City bosses. Both of them turned out to be real assholes. All looks and no personality.
I see a few recently appointed Commanders moving up again in the coming months, maybe before Spring, as the new Supt. puts together a totally new "inner circle" to get his word and will spread outwards. Look for Skahill and E. Williams to fit in there as well. Look for a new spot for Cmdr Rivera (025) also, he would also be a good guy for the incoming Supt. to latch onto.

Hey, new Supt., psst! You can save a whole bunch of money in this Dept. by eliminating several command positions, like fugitive apprehension, vice, general support services, gang intel, DOC.
There are more than a few CIVILIAN positions left behind by the old Supt. that you may want to axe also. Oh, and you won't need SGTS. for drivers down at Hdqtrs.
BIG waste of money. Put them in Districts, where they are needed.
Many of those exempt positions I mentioned earlier in this post can be managed by a CAPTAIN, as commmanding officer. It was done that way in the past. Get out your knife, sir, and begin SURGERY!!

Well, not everyone is going to work, and we'll have to see what happens with that. But, if in 12 months you or I could look at the CPD and think there are honestly 10 exempts who are capable of handling a true disaster (riot, terrorist attack) sua sponte, than the leadership of the CPD will have improved by 500%.
If we can look around and see him demanding progress on bosses, and demoting them though they are the friends of someone's friends, than the leadership of the CPD will have improved by 1000%.
It really does start with that. This guy has more leverage over Daley for the next 12 months than Daley has over him. Really, he can do whatever he sees fit to do.
Even if somebody wanted to put in a phone call to him, nobody knows his number. I'd love to be a fly on the wall around him for a few months though, because no matter what expectations he has on day number one, they are too high. He's gonna be shocked when he sees the clowns who surround him in the exempt ranks.
.......they do it because they swore to protect the weak and innocent from evil savages and to help those who can't help themselves.
