The Supreme Court to Rule

  • The Supreme Court said Tuesday it will decide whether the District of Columbia can ban handguns, a case that could produce the most in-depth examination of the constitutional right to "keep and bear arms" in nearly 70 years.
  • The main issue before the justices is whether the Second Amendment protects an individual's right to own guns or instead merely sets forth the collective right of states to maintain militias. The former interpretation would permit fewer restrictions on gun ownership.
Arguments in March, ruling in June most likely. We'd say there's a good chance the Supreme Court is going to strike down entire swaths of gun laws nation wide. Even a number of liberal scholars are admitting that the Bill of Rights are individual rights, one and all, and have been misinterpreted by anti gun folks for years.

There's nothing to fear if the S.C.
goes OUR way. Things are already out of control;bangers/career criminals dont care about gun laws.
Look at Chicago's shooting rate, and we have the some of the most restrictive gun laws in the US.
Let the citizens defend themselves!

Its now the modern world. The need of firearms is outdated. Its the job of the police and military to protect you. They should be held accountable for their failure. Bring in United Nations rule! Abolish the constitution.

Its not the "GUNS" fault. How about getting rid criminals that use them. Get busy on those in death row. Stop being soft on criminals, forced labor camps is what we need for them. Make prison a true punishment! Like the middle ages, get the rack, do floggings.

Now, if we can only get rid of gun registration, FOID cards, and retirees having to qualify, we'd be on the way to a truly free country!!!!!!!!!

I'm so sorry OFF TOPIC
Did anyone watch FoxNews and listen to the interview with MOnique BOnd.....what have we done to deserve such an idiot as spokeperson for the CPD, are we being punish for some transgression
You can say what you want to about "The Orange One" But something have to be done about this woman. This interview was an audio feed, she wasn't in front of the camera, thank GOD!!! She has got to be the original mold for political hacks and the likes. She couldn't answer any questions put to her without making it a bigger mystery. She came off as if the CPD was a poor rendition of the Keystone Kops, then finally when FOXS posted an informational screen to the public to call the CPD special victim units LOGO/ and telephone number in background to anyone with any information, she barked out a telephone number different then what was posted.....somebody help us!!!!!! surely we are not alone.

There was a poll done on 20/20.
It asked convicts what they feared when committing a crime.

Number One Fear: THAT THE VICTIM MIGHT BE ARMED.

Fear of the police wasn't a fear.

There is only one clear path on this one.If SCOTUS rules against gun ownership the end is near.

"The main issue before the justices is whether the Second Amendment protects an individual's right to own guns or instead merely sets forth the collective right of states to maintain militias. The former interpretation would permit fewer restrictions on gun ownership."

Not really. Remember, D.C. is NOT a state.

Both sides on this issue are nervous about this one. Anti-gun people are nervous that a constitutional right to bear arms might be recognized (it never has been before.) Pro-gun people are nervous that, if that happens, the court will also recognize that the states have the right to "reasonable" regulation of the right to bear arms (every other right is subject to reasonable regulation.) The NRA doesn't like the sound of that.

But, with this conservative (meaning cautious, not necesasarily right wing) court, we may see a ruling that applies only in D.C., which is unique.

If they even get to the issue everyone's concerned about, my money's on a recognition of the right to bear arms, subject to reasonable regulation.

Haven't these fools in charge figured it out by now? The only people who care about the law are law abidding citizens, not criminals!! So why make more laws that restrict citizen's rights to arm and protect themselves? For the savages, it's already like shooting fish in a barrel when they go out thieving and robbing. The public is deceived into believing that the police can adequately protect them, but that is a lie. The city does not put law enforcement as a priority, which is evident in the lack of manpower in every district, and low recruitment for new officers. That combined with the anti-police climate in this city; even when there is a justified shooting they want to blame the police for everything. How many officers do they think are going to continue put their jobs/families on the line for anyone anymore? It is slowly turning into "every man for himself" out here, and if you don't have a gun you are screwed.

After 25 plus years of bullshit city registration and gun laws the gang bangers are still running around with guns and killing each other (so what) and innocent citizens.

The city can take their registration and stick it up their collective ass.

The Supreme Court will overturn the d.c. gun ban 6 to 3. Because of this chicago's will be unconstitional also. But don't go buy your pistol yet. Daley will raise the payment for register to $1,000 per firearm.

I used to have this conversation with a Canadian (way left liberal...guns are bad) friend of mind...a offender breaks into your house and since you are unable to defend yourself with a firearm...tells you after he kills you with a illegally obtained firearm, he is going to rape your wife and two daughters....the police cannot protect you, we are a reactionary force...only go if we are called. It is up to you to protect yourself and your family. If you have a firearm you would be able to defend your castle. Please be safe and not sorry....

I think this is a violation of the posse cometatus act and there is clere evidence for a class action law suit for any officer that ever took a citizens gun.

IF THE SECOND AMENDMENT ONLY APPLIES TO THE STATE, THEN THE FIRST AMENDMENT WOULD ONLY APPLY TO STATE RUN MEDIA.
LET THE LEFT LEANING MEDIA CONSIDER THAT
THE BILL OF RIGHTS APPLIES TO THE PEOPLE-PEROID.

OK, stats. Who has stats on big cities where you can carry? Is crime down or the same? It will never happend here as the Shity and the State make too much money on permits etc. Would our prisons be less crowded? Would "honor student victims and their families" be pushed to sue their own fellow "honor student and families"? Our good Reverends get their financing( grateful donations for their assistance) by assisting families of honor students in sueing the Shity? Would the Reverends start sueing each other? Can one sue for the others Government Assistance checks or link cards?

the 20/20 poll was done in concert with a John Stossel piece on gun control. John is Libertarian and pro-gun; it's a fantastic piece. You can find it on You Tube.

Look out Brady Bunch! Here we come!
