Interesting Read

Liberal gun haters won't like it, nor will those who call us "gun nuts."

But a cop who has interviewed over 200 survivors of gun fights has a very detailed article on the actual dynamics of what actually happens when the shit hits the fan. Training and mental attitude save the day most times. Go read it at this link here.

Wrong. We are constantly trained on the "WHEN" to shoot ... but you are right in that we are never trained on the "HOW" to shoot. We should have both.

SCC, thanks for posting the article.

We have no bullets to give to train either! but we have cameras everywhere, that don't work 1/2 the time, and when they do no one is monitoring them anyway, clout the shitcago way!

Good read SCC, thanks.

Unfortunately libs will dismiss the evidence, and use clever terminology such as “gun-nut” and “stupid” to argue against the use of firearms for defense.

But, as I have asked many times, what is the answer? They have no clue, and part of the reason liberals have no idea what they are talking about is the misinformation they get through their trusted channels. Not to mention living in their own little world where everyone is nice, there is never a need to defend one’s self from a bad guy, and the police show up the instant they are called.

I think it is important that the author mentioned the less than Hollywood consequence of being shot and it having no instant or apparent effect on the bad guy. Not that I’ve had to shoot anyone, but at least I know that they will not go flying across the room and die instantly with one shot to the chest. Therefore, if I ever have the need to fire my gun at someone in self defense, I’m emptying the cylinder… just like many police do when they are in the same situation.

Another misconception is that laws stop people from doing bad things. Any police officer, jail guard, sheriff, security guard knows this to be true; otherwise we’d all be out of a job. Banning guns will only take guns out of law-abiding citizen’s hands. If a bad guy wants a gun, he will find it, and no law or punishment will stop him. Ban all guns in the country you say? Take a look at England. How is it that guns still get into the country and are being used in the commission of crimes? Perhaps criminals don’t care about laws… oh wait… redundant. I hate having the repeat myself, but the definition of a criminal is one who commits crimes.

The most dangerous misconception is that there is always a diplomatic solution to any problem. Libs love saying that if we pull our troops from the Iraq, and change our foreign policy we will see peace. That’s a nice sentiment, but foolish. These terrorists that we fight want nothing more than our complete destruction, and will do whatever it takes to ensure that, including suicide bombings. Exactly how do you talk someone, who is willing to die for their cause and taught from birth that we are the great Satan, out of killing themselves and everyone around them? You don’t. You can’t. Stop applying childish emotionalism to adult situations. Situations where adults need to make horrible, yet correct, decisions.

Here is a simpler scenario: A man intends on robbing a liquor store, and to ensure he gets away with it, he walks in and shoots the clerk. What amount of negotiation can change his mind? None.

Banning guns takes away my right to defend myself against great bodily harm or deadly force. Training, experience and common sense use of handguns is the best defense.

Not trained? Did you sign up for the free training at the academy? What the fuck do you want? Someone to come pick you up and take you to training? Whose fault is it if you don't work to master the only tool you have that separates you from the traffic aides?

The Firearms Training Unit has been putting on a class for 2 years at a/1 and a/5 which teachs you when to shoot and how to shoot. Most times you guys don't come. Jack Manfre has been teaching a FREE class on Saturdays at the Acad for years, yet, he's rarely booked. The new General Order allows officers the option to carry Glocks, Smith and Wesson M&P and Springfield XD with a choice of caliber like never before, yet less then 500 officers took the class to carry a faster, better more accurate weapon. You nay-sayers will complain it was on your time and at your cost. SO WHAT! It's your life.Don't even get me started on shotgun training. WE HAND FEED YOU GUYS, and you throw it up. So I'm here to call bullshit on you guys not getting trained. The training is there, you just want it spoon fed to you. Krupa though not my most favorite guy in the world, puts on a good class, yet he's rarely used . All that said, the firearms training at the academy IS top notch. Just look at the police shooting stats there. So in a nut shell, stop with the crying, come to the range and if we can, we will help you. We are limited in time and space because of prescribed weapon starting and the size of the ranges.
ps. dont forget you 100 rounds of training ammo. Just ask, we're there to help.

I went to the transitional training after spending about 800$ on weapon, ammo and holster I didn't qualify. My failure is my own fault, but I asked the range guy if I could give it another attempt. He said no and I would have to take whole class over again. Like I said my fault for not being more proficient, but come on a little something for going the extra mile to better myself. If we are going to to by the book I believe the class is a tour for the range guys and they were finished by 1100, partly because they weren't delayed by having me or the other three coppers reshoot. I really liked the superior attitude from the kid who informed me I would have to retake whole course.

Because your done at 1100 don't mean the range staff is. Your whats wrong with this department. Cry baby. What makes you so special that you get second or third changes because you failed to prepare? The Academy taught you to shoot, and you failed to keep up that skill and thats the ranges fault? Yet you feel compelled to "rat" them out for an alleged duck? Fuck you, I think I'll find out what class had three failures and see which one is the crybaby.Maybe your district or unit needs to know what a "rat" you appear to be. On an aside, I sure the fuck wouldnt want a officer how cant hit a 70 percent under limited stress.

I never said the failure was anyone else's but mine. All I said that it was fucked up that the range guy wouldn't let me and the other guys give it another attempt. FYI the range guy told me at beginning of day he would be home for the bears game, so I don't think they were immersed in paperwork until 3. That said I am not a snitch but don't play by the book with me on my day off and then duck early. fair is fair
