Off Duty Officers Killed

  • A Cook County corrections officer was killed Thursday night when her vehicle struck a pillar on the Dan Ryan Expressway, closing down all express lanes near the scene for about three hours, authorities said.
Someone posted that she was married to CPD - can anyone verify? Condolences to family and County for their collective loss.

Also, down south:
  • DECATUR, Ga. — Investigators were questioning several witnesses and possible suspects in connection with the execution-style slaying of two DeKalb County police officers, a department official told FOXNews.com.
Each officer had four children.

U.S. BORDER COP KILLED YESTERDAY

YUMA, Ariz. - A Border Patrol agent trying to stop a vehicle that had illegally entered the U.S. was struck and killed Saturday in southeastern California, agency officials said.

The agent was killed about 20 miles west of Yuma in the Imperial Sand Dunes Recreation Area, a spot along the border that is popular with off-road vehicle enthusiasts and frequently used by smugglers.

The agent attempted to impede the vehicle's progress before he was hit, but the Border Patrol did not immediately have more information, said agent Eric Anderson, a spokesman for the agency's Yuma sector.

Prays for all those who give their lives for the safety of others as well as their families!

2008 Appears to be starting off very bad for law enforcement officers through out the USA. I think the anti-law enforcement sentiment is going to enhance the number of losses in 2008. Very sad.

God bless you and your family. As the days pass, the calls slow down, the nights grow long and the kid's cries grow more and more each day, please don't be afraid or ashamed to take some time to talk to someone and allow the children the choice to do the same. That is an awful lot for you to endure, dealing with the loss of your life partner and the sadness of your children. Please remember that God will never put more on you than you can handle, but he does send little angels to give you the support and guidance that you and your family may need to make it through each day.........

Joe is the model of an officer and a gentleman. I am proud and honored to share a patrol car with him on a daily basis. Joe loves his wife with all his heart, she is his Angel.

There are no words to describe the show of support given by everyone that attended the wake and funeral.

Please keep Joe and his sons in your thoughts and prayers!
