Anyone Else Sick of This?

We starting to think that Al Gore is pretty much full of crap:
  • This winter has been especially bad. It's not just your imagination. According to an array of weather statistics compiled by Illinois state climatologist Jim Angel, it's the third-worst winter in a decade. And weird, besides.
  • Sunday night, there will be increasing clouds, with a low around 30 degrees, the weather service said. There will be a southwest wind around 10 mph.

On Monday, the weather service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for McHenry, Lake, DeKalb, Kane, DuPage, Cook, Will and Kankakee counties

There will be a 100-percent chance of precipitation, consisting of either rain or snow.

Then we have multiple blizzards in Europe, China, no rain in Seattle, etc. It's almost like the Earth is one great big ecosystem that runs in cycles.

Anyway, prepare for more snow locally. If it wasn't for hockey, ice would really suck.

Global warming did get Gore a Nobel prize.

The older I get the more my old bones hurt.

Arizona is looking better everyday.

One of these cold days I'll be plunking down my star.

Global Warming is total horseshit, 35 years ago when I was in High School, climatologists were talking about a return to another ice age using some of the same reasons they now use attributing to (what they call) global warming.

The earth's temperatures and weather go through cycles, plain and simple.

Al Gore is full of shit, always has been and always will be.

Art bell wrote a book about global warming, cant recall the name. . Something like the coming global superstorm, and in it he stated that there will be harsh winters but global warming is really occuring, something with oceanic temperatures. . . I dunno. . . Check it out, it explains it

SSC your not a scientist so please don't comment on things you couldn't possibly know about like global warming. You can't possibly still be disillusioned and ignore all the facts that are coming out about global warming and pollution, unless your in pollution business or their pocket like people running this government right now. Anyways wrong or right stick to relevant posts that I could actually believe you may know a thing or two about...

The interesting thing about your commonly held perspective is it's limited vision.

Not everything occurs a few inches from the tip of your nose.

Understanding global warming isn't for the feeble-minded, no matter how brilliant you think you are and no matter how intelligent and knowledgeable you have become in the limited areas of your interest.

Try thinking about the subject you so carelessly comment on.

Try asking what has prompted this concern that the planet's median temperature is increasing.

Try thinking on a scale much larger than the area visible to your naked eyes.

Complexity cannot be reduced to simplicity and still retain accuracy and, thus, it's truth and factuality.

K.I.S.S. works for some things and for some people.

Try applying the K.I.S.S. principle when you're faced with any technologically complicated task; the level of simplicity you can achieve will still be incredibly complex, compared to tying your shoes.

One thing I do know is, I'm glad I don't own property within the area that would be under water, were the lake level to rise a meager 10-15 feet.

Head for the high ground, that's my advice.

We understand way more than you think about global warming and the political BS that accompanies it. The green lobby has a vested interest in scare mongering and evidently, you've bought into it. We on the other hand, know how to do research, question why only 25 years ago global cooling was the scare tactic and happen to notice that for two years, no major hurricane has hit the US even though global warming advocates insisted we were due for bigger and more violent storms in the wake of Katrina.

Hasn't happened, leading the intelligent reader to question more and more and see how flimsy and false global warming alarmists' arguments are. The science isn't settled.

If you disagree with him and his cockamamie notion that humans are the direct result of the earth warming means that you get no federal grant money.

Here's something else to wrap your mind around that uncle Al forgot to footnote. His little gang of friends that help bolster his stupid movie: UN-sponsored Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) is made up of fewer than 2,000 people and some are NOT EVEN SCIENTISTS (just tree huggers with an agenda).

Some scientists that were on this panel had to sue him to get their names off his report because they did not want to associate themselves with his ideas.

Many scientists agree that the earth will actually swing back to becoming colder after this warm period.

SCC, you hit the nail on the head...

Snow cover over North America and much of Siberia, Mongolia and China is greater than at any time since 1966.

And remember the Arctic Sea ice? The ice we were told so hysterically last fall had melted to its "lowest levels on record? Never mind that those records only date back as far as 1972 and that there is anthropological and geological evidence of much greater melts in the past.

The ice is back.

Gilles Langis, a senior forecaster with the Canadian Ice Service in Ottawa, says the Arctic winter has been so severe the ice has not only recovered, it is actually 10 to 20 cm thicker in many places than at this time last year.

It's not ice melt but rather wind circulation that drives ocean currents northward from the tropics. Climate models until now have not properly accounted for the wind's effects on ocean circulation, so researchers have compensated by over-emphasizing the role of manmade warming on polar ice melt.

National Research Council, who oversees a giant radio telescope focused on the sun, is convinced we are in for a long period of severely cold weather if sunspot activity does not pick up soon.

The last time the sun was this inactive, Earth suffered the Little Ice Age that lasted about five centuries and ended in 1850.

It does affect weather systems so the winters are colder and nastier and the hurricanes become larger. ect ect. Any of this sound familar? 35 years ago, when anonymous 12:38 was in high school, one or two climatologists were indeed looking at temperatures for 5 or 6 years in one small country and wondering whether the globe was getting cooler, but at the very same time, other climatologists who knew more were tracking temperatures world-wide, and already formulating the theory of global warming.

Now, in 2008, some goofball on a police blog notices its cold in his city, and voila, he knows that the work of thousands of scientists for three decades across the world is a hoax.

I studied global warming in college more than 20 years ago. There was already substantial data supporting the theory, and they've been testing things ever since.

But hey, there are people who think the lunar landing was fake, too, so you're in good company.

Tree huggers allege global warming comes from the burning of fossil fuels, coal and oil, which has been used profusely by humans during the industrial revolution and up to this day. Because of the accellerated use of these fuels in the past fifty years, the earth's temperature is rising. What they fail to tell you is that the earth's temperature has been rising steadily since the 1850's, well before the widespread use of fossil fuels. However, the cyclical nature of the earth's heating and cooling will not win you elections or get you money from ignorant liberals and hollywood stars, but scare tactics will. Do not believe the BS the snake oil salesmen will sell you about global warming, do your own research and find out for yourself.

You gotta be kidding, this winter ain't been shit, not even close.

1967, 1979, 1980, 1982, with a few scattered years thereafter having occasional sub zero days here and there and some snowfalls that inconvenienced the unprepared.

I used it as a joke for me and people who understood it, and you got it.

Other people will read it as fact because it's the simplest site for people with simple minds to understand.

http://www.epa.gov/climatechange/

.GOV!!!!!!

to say that the earth goes in cycles is crazy, there isn't a superior dataset to support that because there isn't any data, period, to plot out the average changing temps over the past 540 million years of history.

bottom line is that global warming is happening, which should not be in dispute. whats in dispute is just how detrimental it is. given the rising frequencies of hurricanes/large storm systems which are directly related to global warming, general destruction of environment that comes from polluting and emitting harmful substances into the atmosphere - I dont see how anyone can think that we can continue like this without even worse consequences.

Which means that anyone can 'edit' at will, albeit there are moderators who may not allow said edits to remain for long, should said edits be in conflict with the site's policy.

Try reading the policy, with as honest a mind as you can muster.

It's not remotely unreasonable or biased, one way or another.

If you can back up your edit, reasonably, and with verifiable sources, your edit will likely remain.
