while its nice to see some changes, does anyone else find it hard to believe the new supt can have any clue what its like to live in the city, pay catholic(or any private) tuition and everything else that goes with living here. I mean he makes 350k a yr, lives at 500 N state and has never been a chicago copper. I dont know about you, but how many of us can afford to live at 500 n state? maybe he should take a ride to mt greenwood, edison park, garfield ridge or portage park and see where WE live and what WE get for our shit money. The po's and sergeants are the most abused of any district--and it comes from the commander---they all need much help---these officers and sergeants are the hardest working officers ever yet they can never take a day off, without begging, and that is soooooo humilating. All the officers have to fight just to get paper, contact cards, missile cards , traffic accident reports. There are so many problems there I don't know where to start. Commander Doty is the most arrogant, condescending boss you have ever met. He literally screams at his bosses. How professional is that? Unfortunately because he holds their "jobs" they must cower to him--its absolutely pathethic. Superintendent Weis investigate why you cannot keep bosses in 6. The sergeants there are forced to write up officers for everything, its bull. PLEASE HELP THEM--10-1 for the 6th district
The Troubled Buildings Unit disbanding is just rumor. The C.O. of the unit was reassigned, instead she put in her retirement papers. A temp Lt. is running the unit until Aunt Bea decides what she wants to do with the unit.

don't know anything about the commander of 14 but the one from 006 could care less about anybody but himself. the only issue is that he has ties to our 1st deputy and d/s of strat deploy. so if he was called down it may not be to dump him but to promote him, but when your a big fuck up on this job you tend to get promoted. but i'm sure those in 006 would be happy to get rid of him at any cost.

Don’t vote for any jerk that mails crap tp your house. Are they trying to buy your vote with a color poster? One group are all cronies from the city-wide team and the other are all dorks. Vote for someone else instead. The Jans group are like Ralph Nader, they just won’t go away. Jaglowski & Harold Brown are professional candidates. The city-wide group of 17 trustees only have a few people who are independent thinkers. Who does that leave? It is a dam shame that so few people qualify to run, and some of the best people can’t afford to pay the 12k for the postage and processing fees to do a blind mailing from FOP’s printing house to mail stuff to all active and retired members. And what really peeves me if the fact that the FOP only comes to roll calls every four years at election time. Where are all these trustees from the incumbent team been for the last four years? The five big cats come out once in the blue moon, but where have all the little weenie’s (city-wide trustee’s) been the last four years? I'm just a guy who sick of all the politics that we have to go thru very four years with a contract.

Get real...These guys work 6 hour days and only respond to pager calls. Then they respond from home and complain about a late call infringing on their 1 hour transport time at the end of their tour. Better yet, put the dogs in each district, and let District PO's handle them. The current handlers could wash the kennels and pick up waste.
If they start chopping off some the excess personnel at HQ let’s see how they do it! Do they start with the old 1st Deputy’s staff? If a unit has ten people but they only need seven in the office do they use seniority and cut the bottom three? I think not! That would not be fair to Johnnie, or Joanne or Suzie who’s mommy and daddy are bosses would it? Get rid of the privileged class of kids who should have never been at HQ to start with!

Don't the airports have their own Aviation police? Why do we need an airport unit? Fold these lazy good for nothings back into the districts so I can take a day off when my family has a get together. We're too short on manpower as it is. I have been denied time due too many times for manpower needs. Hey Jr. Please site when and where J-Fed has ever claimed to know what it's like to be a "blue shirt."
Frankly, we don't need our boss to be a "blue shirt," we need him to make some tough decisions, and hopefully good decisions.
J-Fed wasn't hired to police the streets but to come up with sound crime fighting policies. At the same time he is trying to restore morale. A big start has been the elimination of some people that were "blue shirts," and once promoted, treated all "blue shirts" like children. I for one would rather have an outsider that treats as professionals than an insider that treats us as children.
He has only been here 25 days.
In year we can make better judgments on his program.
Troubled buildings is the Mayor's project. They just dumped the Lt in charge. They will continue under new leadership is all. The new Deputy Superintendent Aunt Bea will name someone else soon.

The commander of 024 is the cream of the crop. Knows all PO's under his command, by name, cares about family and has a truely open door policy. If you think there is a better DC out there bid to their district. But don't drag his good name through the mud here. And perhaps you would get treated better if you did some work.
With any new boss comes change. I too am happy that bosses are feeling our pain. I am just wondering what we are going to do with all of these new people? We are going to spend more time trying to play catch up and figure out what each unit does than doing anything. Also, how can you promote Commanders to that level of positions and they have no idea of the in between responsibility and requirments? This department just went 50 years back. Thanks!

We've also learned that the OTHER candidate, Jans, wrote a fellow officer a ticket in a residential neighborhood during a young kid's party. He is a complete goof. It would be a huge loss to the TRU Unit if Sgt. Hitiris left to go back to a district. Since he arrived @ Unit 253 the number of arrests have gone off the charts and the number of officers wanting to be part of the elite unit has tripled. Thank You Sgt. Hitiris.

I will say one thing about Maher. As long as you were working your case and could answer questions about what was happening, even if you hit a roadblock, she would not bother you. For the officer in 006 who is unhappy with the district commander in 006. Bid out. I'm going on 10 years on the job everytime I was unhappy guess what I bidded out. I've been in 3 different districts and I wont think twice to bid out once more.
Get rid of the 24th district commander is a great idea. Whats even better is to get rid of Lt. sidekick, maybe then the 24th District then can have "CHRISTMAS" parties before Christmas instead of "HOLIDAY" parties in January...what a F&^%in joke.

I seem to recall that this is part of the Shakman decision and agreement. In order to demote an exempt cause must be shown, and there will still likely be problems. By the way, cause does not include: He yelled at someone, or the watches don't like him, or so and so is his pet, or most of the other myriad, derogatory comments made here. In other words there must be substance to the reason.

You are correct about the letter, actually a Par Form, but it is not done voluntarily-trust me on that. One of the latest rounds of agreements relative to the Shakman decisiion caused nearly all CPD exempt positions to be covered by it. Prior to that it was only a few that were covered, and those could be adjusted on a regular basis. Now only a few are not covered and I am pretty sure those are the Deputy Supt and Chief ranks. Those are ocnsidered "political appointments." I am reeasonably sure this is the case now, and it makes it more difficult to replace command personnel. Remember back in the 60's, 70's and 80's exempt rank was like a revolving door. You haven't seen that for a while.
Anyway retirement is great, but you have to get out of the north country to somewhere where the sun shines most of the time.

They should just close the 024th district, and most of area 3 for that matter, send all those coppers everywhere else where it is busy; the backlogs would end, they could send the dets to area 1 and 2 where they could actually be of use. If something does actually happen there we can send TRU or a tac team to handle it real quick and then leave...
For those of you who may not like Lt. AS in 024, she never got her stripes or her bars by merit. She tests well. She's smart. Regardless of how you feel about her, don't hate on her because you can't score well enough to make it on your score. That's just the way these tests go. Some test well. Some are sought out by bosses who recognize leadership skills nad performance in the line of duty. Others are out there trying to make it on their knees.
