Heroes

Unfortunately, the shooting at NIU drove this entire bit of good news underground over the course of the day. Here's a glimpse of what was leading the news early Thursday:
  • A 44-year-old Calumet Area detective scooped up a 4-year-old girl from the fifth floor of a burning Chicago Housing Authority building early Thursday on the Near North Side.

The detective -- with two other officers first on the scene -- helped rescue six other residents, none of whom were seriously hurt.

If you dig around the news sites, there's good video of the rescues. All in all, a great job by CPD before CFD arrived.

With this recent rash of robberies in 022 i keep hearing the guys from 022 responding that "we can't be in all places at all times" and "sometimes these things happen and you just can't prevent them." I say f*ck that! I think that you need to patrol more aggesively to keep these animals out of our neighborhood. Go back a decade or so and they wouldn't even think about coming in there and doing this shit b/c they would know the consequences. But now, there's robberies, burgleries, battery's you name it b/c they must feel ok with the idea of coming into that area. A lot of us live and have family there and for a lot of different reasons can't work in 022, so we are asking you guys that do to please protect us. Step it up. Constantly stop that car full of thugs and write them tickets etc.. to show them they aren't wanted.

speaking of heroes, i have an old co-worker that is a gun team member and has been for several years. he's complained to me about some recent bullshit and stupid decisions that have taken a unit from being elite and extremely productive to a unit who's morale is at an all time low. these guys not only dont get any praise or recognition for all the great work they do, but they have now been hit with some major bullshit. it used to be that they worked with a motto that "go where it takes you" to get the bad guys but now they are being told "don't go to the suburbs, don't go to any other district other than your specific area. then if you think it couldnt get any worse, that area restriction lessoned to only 2 districts in that specific area. then if you think if couldnt get any worse after that last bombshell, they are now told "no more drug search warrants". im sorry but isnt drugs, gangs, and guns all intertwined. its common knowledge, no? ive never heard of anything as stupid as this new procedure in my 20 plus years on this job. what a waste of great, knowledgable, intelligent police officers now forced to sit on there hands and step on each others feet in 2 districts knocking heads with tru, district tact, gangs and beat cars. morale low, productivity low, aggravation at an all time high. put it back the way it was so all these guys can rock and roll so they can continue to do what they are oh so good at - quality felony arrests, major gun, narcotic and money seizures and positive quality search warrants. that is all. Jody are you listening????????????????

Boys in blue Police blotter . . .

February 15, 2008
BY MICHAEL SNEED Sun-Times

Is a bloodbath in the works at the Chicago Police Department?

Sneed hears rumbles new Supt. Jody Weis, a former top FBI honcho appointed by Mayor Daley to clean up the department, may be in the process of forcing out all of his top police deputies. Word is all but one -- who is a Daley favorite -- will be "retiring" soon.

Time for YOU to step it up, pal. Why don't you lead the way by forming an off-duty brigade who can help us aggressively patrol the alleys and side streets of the homeland? Then you can show us poor fools how to do the work that needs be done.

So you've got family and can't be all places at all times? OK, then make your phone call and slide on into 022 so you can be on the firing line with the rest of us. We need all the help we can get.

Go back a decade or so and them undesirables wouldn't even think about coming into Mt. Greenwood because it was a different place then, different political and economic realities now. We don't like spending time on the east end, but that's the shit reality. Don't blame the ones who are making every effort to protect you and yours.

I'd LOVE to know your reasons you can't work in 022. Is it because you are a house mouse? Have some politically-connected job within the department? Sounds to me like you are a major sissy & a complete tool! It's easy to bash 022, 008, 016 because the majority of the Police Officers live in these districts. How can you bash the Officers of 011 or 015 or 006? Because these districts are unsalvageable & maybe a very small amount of Officers live there. If there were only 4 robberies in 022 in an 8 month span, but one of them occurred next door to YOU, you'd bash the coppers from 022.
Come show us how to be the police, JACKASS!!

Nope, still at 95.6% give or take a few tenths of a point. You want to see our traffic numbers, click on the site meter icon at the very bottom of the main page. It lists numbers, locations, daily, weekly, monthly and yearly totals. Today we'll do 9,000 visitors and about 450 to 500 comments.

If what you say is true regarding 6000 hits, are you telling me an OVERWHELMING majority of the visitors do not post something? That out of 6000 hits only 400-500 comments were made? COME ON!

Very good. The vast majority of people DON'T leave comments. Fewer than 10% most days.

Youre so full of shit!

Right. We'll name it after you.

At least have the balls to say "come look at my blog but you will probably get censored if youd like to post, unless you have some cutsie little name and are 100% on my side, but hey, it's my blog!".

We've already laid out the rules. In fact, we've laid them out many times. If you're too dumb to find them or follow them, that isn't really our look out. We allow all sorts of stuff to pass through. But as you seem to have a learning disability, you must be unable to see which behaviors are getting your comments shitcanned.

SCC, were you the kid who only got included in neighborhood games cuz you had the ball? And when things didnt go your way you took the ball and ran home? Youre the guy who blames the bully, not the gunman, right? What a panzy!

Oh boo hoo. We're going to take our blog and go home now. Oh wait, we are home.

Listen here short bus, you follow the rules, learn from your mistakes and promise not to breed your stupidity to another generation and maybe, just maybe, we'll let you post again. Otherwise, we're telling mommy to take away your inflatable boyfriend and no more twinkies for you.
