Riot at the Juvie center:
Ten people were hurt during a big brawl at the center Monday. There's even talk of a possible worker walkout.
There is no question many staffers at the juvenile detention center are unhappy. Many say they are worried for their safety at work. And the brawl inside the facility Monday was just one of many recent incidents. The new administrator says he's committed to fixing the problems and that begins with the staff.
It was the sort of incident some juvenile detention center staffers say was bound to happen and is likely to happen again - a near riot inside the facility with dozens of teenagers involved, throwing furniture and causing numerous injuries.
A "near riot" in which 10 people are hurt badly enough to require treatment? And most of the injured are staff members? That would seem to be a full fledged riot.
We think we can safely state that once again, in Cook County, the inmates are truly running the asylum.

Locked down facility? Employees out of the locked down room? Camera is running? Use of deadly force no! However, what man or woman in their common sense would rush into a room packed with young men? And women? watching an educational film?(black history month according to the “BS” suntimes) to create peace amongst a taught ignorance. “juvenile center,” my ass! Most of them (beautiful young children of Chicago)the size of the average Patrol Officer! Lock down the room, throw out a few commands, and call for the “ninja turtle suits.”
The County and this city are such a JOKE!!
I KNOW A COUPLE OF SHERIFFS THAT RELATED THAT WHEN THE KIDZ GOT OUT HAND(RAPING AND STABBING EACH OTHER)THE SHERIFFS USED TO GIVE OUT PUNISHMENT.
GUESS WHAT HAPPENED THE LITTLE CRIMINALS WOULD GO TO THE CIVILIANS WORKING UPSTAIRS AND CRY THAT THEY WERE ABUSED.
THE CIVILIANS MOSTLY STROGER PEOPLE WOULD RAT OUT ON THE SHERIFFS.
IT WAS BAD ENOUGH THAT THEY HAD A HANDFUL OF PEDOPHILES WORKING WITH THE YOUNG AND FIRM BOYS BUT PICTURE HAVING A LOCK UP RUNNED BY REVERENDS READY TO RAT YOU OUT.

The new czar at the Center is ridding it of Stroger's lackies. The employees are revolting by doing even less than they usually do.
There is approximately one staff member for every inmate. I wouldn't be surprised to find out that one of the staff was behind this whole thing.
didn't the county just have an expert egghead investigate the audi home recently. i seem to recall that she complained of not getting cooperation from the staff and found conditions unacceptable. recommended a bunch of changes be made. to me a crook is a crook, whether they are 14 or 50. a 14 year old knows the difference between right and wrong. 14 year olds commit class x felonies all the time. treat them like adults and lock them down.

How about removing a few of the sly references to the inmates as less than human? We've stated on numerous occasions about using loaded terms as general descriptions of behavior (acceptable) and using those same words as veiled code for ethnic slurs (not acceptable).
We're sure you can figure it out.

Lets see, Im not too good at math, but here goes. The guys that write curfews stay management 3rd watch. The guys that don't work midnites. Hmm. Yeah, sure, why write curfews?

The news stated that the riot occurred during a Dr. Martin Luther King prayer ceremony.
When the staff complained that they don't feel safe at Juvy Hall, the warden exclaimed....."IF you want a safe job, go to work at DisneyWorld!"
