Short Bus Rider Speaks

Anyone else think a few reading comprehension courses might help this GED candidate in our comments section?
  • SCC, you’re a real piece of Shit!
Really? How so? We mean besides giving you a platform to demonstrate ignorance we mean
  • Just like the guy who wants to ambush and kill a Police officer there is nothing we can do to stop that, only try to deter it. The response we have after that is what separates those who have a plan in place and those who don't. We may never know actions law enforcement took at NIU but I will give them the benefit of the doubt that their response saved some lives, unlike the response at Columbine.
Actually, if you read the linked articles and watched the news, we know pretty much what happened. The NIU police got there in two minutes and the gunman was already dead. So in reality, the police did nothing.

ATTENTION TINY BRAINED READERS AND READING COMPREHENSION CHALLENGED TROLLS - THIS IS NOT A SLAM ON THE NIU POLICE.

Two minutes is a FAN-FUCKING-TASTIC response time. We'd love to see CPD get to every call inside of two minutes, but with call volume and under-staffing, it ain't going to happen. But the fact of the situation is that NIU police did not engage the gunman and us pointing that out does not make us pieces of shit.
  • So take your righteous attitude and shove it up your ass. This is not a Police state we live in, we have a constitution that we have to abide by. Unfortunately the bad guys don't have to follow the rules.
Um, wasn't that the point of our entire post? The US Constitution guarantees the Right to Bear Arms, yet Illinois won't allow young adults the means to defend themselves from a crazed maniac even though they can drive, vote, be drafted, or marry. Why not the right to chose to NOT be a victim?

As for our "righteous attitude," we can only assume you mean taking the Chief to task for his harebrained comment. How can he possibly stand up there in a position of authority and say to the parents of the dead and wounded, "and as much as we do, it's unlikely that anyone would ever have the ability to stop an incident like this from beginning.

Bullshit. One person can and has stopped things like this in their tracks. And the way they did it was they had a gun. The mall out west - off duty cop with a gun. Church shooting in Colorado? Female with a pistol. University shooting out east 5 or so years ago? Student with a concealed carry permit on a "gun-free" campus had to run back to his car to retrieve a gun and stopped a shooting - too bad he had to follow the "gun free rules" or he might have saved more people than he did.
  • What happened at NIU was a tragedy perpetrated by a mad-man, don't blame law enforcement.
Ah, finally, the public school education rears its ugly head. Where the fuck did we ever blame law enforcement? Point it out, right now, you sanctimonious prick. Quote us you miserable jagoff.

You can't. Even obliquely (look it up in your word a day calendar asshat). What we stated was FACT. Cold hard fact. NIU responded promptly, professionally, efficiently and exactly two minutes too late. Sorry, but that's a fact. Pointing it out doesn't make us shit either. Pointing out what a half assed statement the Chief made was the point of the post, but you missed that, too. Not really surprising considering your entire thought process lack of thought process.
  • You really pissed me off!!!!!
And you pissed us off - all those tax dollars wasted on your short bus riding public school education and you can't even read a blog post of a few hundred words. A-fucking-mazing. Do you even have a job and can we expect to be wasting money on your progeny in the coming decades?

Abolish the gun free zones.

Allow us the right to protect ourselves and others.

Have the government absolve and indemnify "good" shootings.

Have our homeowners policy or similar policy cover "bad" but well intended shootings.

In essence, it is LIABILITY insurance for our actions that we may be held responsible for.

where do I sign up?

The NIU Police, the Sheriff's department and the Illinois State Police did a great job, along with the responding medical personnel.

Did you notice how many of the ordinary P.O.s, I assume they were everyday patrol officers from these different departments, were totting AR-15s, and shotguns. The CPD, the first responders here don't have the proper weapons to handle such a situation as the Columbine massacre. There is something call a SORT car but I have never seen one, never even seen a video on what one is suppose to be able to do. SWAT, too far away from were I work. I could imaging advancing down a hallway in diamond formation as the School Violent Incident video instructs, and having Tact guys running past us helter-skelter.

Last year I was in one of our city's largest high schools. I brought it to the attention of the principal of how confusing it was to navigate the hallway and find any particular room. The room numbers were not visible unless you were right in front of the door and there were other problems to find your way around. I gave the principal a list of what could be done to make it easier for first responders, or for that matter anyone to find their way in the maze of hallways. I was thanked for my ideas and professional concern. I went back to that high school last month, nothing had changed.

Stay safe, and pray that does not happen here.

SCC, isn't it amazing how angry and violent liberals become when anyone disagrees with them? All that tree hugging, feel good talk goes right out the window!

I've said this countless times: when you argue with a liberal, you automatically become a bigot, and not only are you wrong, you're a bad person as well... bunch of hypocritical, vacuous, closet fascists who apply childish emotionalism to adult issues.

I'm going to throw this challenge out there to the anti gun people:

Your job is to present an articulate and convincing argument, that justifies taking away one's right to defend themselves in the very manner one is threatened. And I will not accept any arguments based on banning of all guns, because no law stops criminals and people intent on killing others, from getting guns.

You have said it over and over; there is nothing that could have stopped this student. If you believe that, then you know anyone he came across was likely to suffer great bodily harm or death. Why should this person, or anyone for that matter, not be allowed to defend themselves against death? What advice do you offer to potential victims of this type of attack?

I would rather die having the ability to defend myself, or die defending myself, than just lay down and die.

Pacifism is not a virtue.

Having two daughters in college, their job is to get an education, not pack one of my pistols with them in class. Don't get me wrong, I'm very pro gun and this would be a hugh distraction to them. However, I would like to suggest that if colleges were to offer police officers throughout the state a hugh break in tuition in exchange for being armed in your off duty hours while you are taking classes to earn a degree, I find that this approach might be a good start.

What happened at NIU, Tinley Park are hugh incidents that cut at the core of what's good in society. Sadly though, the times have change beyond one's control. I wish I had a concrete, foolproof answer for us, but I don't so until then, if you can lawfully carry a firearm, enjoy the feeling you can if called upon to fight back to protect yourself or loved ones.

A man goes hunting buffalo. He finds a herd. He shoots one and the herd flees. Pleased...he is able to shoot two more as they flee.
Later, the hunter comes across another herd. Excited, he shoots one. Except this time, instead of fleeing, the rest of the herd stampedes him.
His hunting buddies find his mutilated body in a field two days later. They decide they'll stick to shooting deer.

Yes.

Psychiatry is not a science.

Psychiatry is an ongoing experiment and those who submit to said experiment are akin to lab rats.

People who have found it difficult to experience life in it's current form, socially, economically and personally, are rarely offered truly helpful assistance by those conducting this experiment.

In fact, as is often the case, those conducting this ongoing experiment are motivated primarily by financial incentives, said incentives coming from the immense 'legal' drug industry, with the enthusiastic cooperation of several other, related industries.

There's a lot of money to go around, a large portion from the taxpayers and the rest from private insurance and the pockets of those whose misfortune is to be, or have a loved one be, the subject of said experiments.

Advertising, government 'service' agencies, the medical industries, and, of course, the drug manufacturing industries, all profit immensely from this ongoing experiment in psychiatry.

And all with relatively little authentic concern for those they experiment on.

Events, such as this one, are mere blips of collateral damage on their spread sheets.

That's one reason why the 'spin doctors' work so hard to deflect any thoughts on the specific cause(s) of a person taking such actions, and promote every explanation BUT the truth, encouraging the general public to dismiss the assailant as a 'psycho' or 'nut case' or a 'mentally disturbed individual off his meds', rather than thinking about what internal, biochemical and metabolic effects the substances used on this experimental subject have to do with his subsequent actions.

Money makes some people's worlds go round, lots and lots of money.

Because It is a true statement SCC, that's how. There wasn't anything anyone was going to do to stop this guy in the time available. He walked in blazing and with a plan of action before ANYONE had time to react. He was going to get those shots off no matter what because HE WAS FIRST!

In St. Louis TWO armed officers were taken down before they knew what hit them because the opponent WAS FIRST! So it is not a question that armed students or teachers can resolve. Restricting the ACCESS to weapons, however, is a legitimate step to take here, particularly when one examines the successful policies in places such as Japan, Canada, Germany and the UK to name just a few. All of these societies suffer but a fraction of the gun violence we experience. There's something to learn from that.

secondly, even if it was true (which it isn't), you don't go and say that in front of the families of the dead. you don't even think it. you say that to the "blue ribbon committee" that will undoubtedly be set up soon to investigate why this occurred (probably mindless platitudes like you enjoy spouting) and what can be done to prevent it in the future (ban guns instead of locking the back door and allowing people to defend themselves).

Bullshit. You cannot restrict access to individual that will ignore said restrictions, ie: CRIMINALS. Also, the countries you speak of seem to have a lot more respect for traditional values: family, authority, etc. and the may be the reason for the lower violent crime rates, not the restricted access to weapons. How about stricter enforcement in the judicial system in the US for a change? After all, you get locked up with a gun and the judge gives you probation and you dont really learn too much from it. We've become entirely too lax on the judicial aspect of things, focusing more on criminals rights than on the victims rights and it simply undermines the authority of the law enforcement officers nationwide. Restricted access is already in place and doesnt help. How about tougher penalties THAT ARE ACTUALLY ENFORCED for criminals that use guns?

Yes, the assailant was 1sr with his 1t shot.

He was also 1st with his 2nd shot.

And 1st with his 3rd shot.

In fact, the assailant was 1st with every shot he fired.

Why?

Because there was no one at the scene who had the ability to interrupt and interfere with the assailant being 1st.

Why?

Because there was no one at the scene who had any shots to fire.

Why?

Because there was no one at the scene who was armed.

Thus, the assailant had no one armed to oppose his attack.

Lucky for the assailant.

Not so lucky for his victims.

Do you think the assailant was aware of his position of being so lucky in this respect?

Courtesy of the law being respected by those victims and being complied with by same?

Thank you, Doctor Welby, for your unbiased opinion.

And the drug industry also wishes to thank you, your check is in the mail.

As a side note, the assailant had stopped taking his 'meds', the effects and alterations those meds had had on his metabolism and biochemical state are contributing factors relevant to his harmful behavior and the 'doctors' and 'pharmaceutical industry experts' are unlikely to admit to any undesirable or unexpected connections between the assailant's final actions, his state of mind and his history of 'prescribed treatments'.
