St. Baldrick's Results

Via Bill O'Reilly (no, not the FOX guy. the copper)
  • The main event at the Academy was supported by over 20 volunteers, 10 barbers and 130 or so brave shavees. There were participants from two years old to 74 years old, both male and female.
  • Many of the female donors were able to donate hair that was longer than 10 inches and will be used to create wigs for children that loose their hair to chemotherapy, and a few really brave lasses even went ahead and shaved the rest of their hair off to show their support and raise even more money for St. Baldrick's.
  • As of this writing, we are close to the CFD total, but do not have enough raised to beat their overall total. However, if you average out the per participant donations average, we smoked them! It's not too late to donate on line, just go to our event web site, [...] and click on donate on line, or if you have a particular team or individual you would like to sponsor, click on event participants and find the team or person's name.
Next year, we'd be more than happy to get the word out earlier.

Thanks SCC for helping to spread the word, and now that I know I can e-mail you, next year we'll even get the word out before the event!

I can’t say thank you enough to everyone who helped out this year, the volunteers, barbers, and shavees, and supporters were all spectacular.

As of this writing CPD is at just about $68,000.00, about $20,000.00 behind CFD but they had almost 400 shavees to our 160 so as I said earlier, person to person, we smoked them! The web site doesn't show the cash and checks that were collected that day, those have to be entered after being double checked by the St. Baldrick's people.

Check out the site http://www.stbaldricks.org/events/event_info.html?EventKey=2008-898 for some great photos from the Academy event as well, and we’ll try to update with new pictures every couple of days.

Next year we will start seeking volunteers in the late fall and we will be even more organized, so start thinking about letting your hair grow come November or December.

We did get some positive press coverage for our event. The Friday before St. Patrick’s Day is always the busiest for St. Baldrick’s so news crews were all over the city but Channel 2 did a great piece to talk about Baby Reece and Channel 9 did a piece as well which gave us some great national exposure. I didn’t get to watch CLTV but they had sent a crew as well, and there were some newspaper photographers, but I haven’t looked through those yet. The Beverly Review is probably going to have an article as well this week for any of you that get that paper.

Thanks again to all and as only a Cub fan can say, “Wait ‘til Next Year!”

Congrats to the St Baldricks its for a great cause.
For a quick laugh take a look at page two in the times with obama holding court, while moprah seated two seats to obama's left appears to be sleeping, probably dreaming about what she should write.

I don't know if this istrue or not but I heard that a new G.O. came out regarding on or off duty intoxication. The order supposedly stated that if someone believs you are intoxicated they can call on you and the W.C. has to come out and assess the situation. Supposedly this order came out yesterday.

If this is true I hope all you guys that think this GOOF JFED is wake up and smell the coffee.

Believe me this guy will fire and put more coppers behind bars than any other Supt. ever!!!!

Off Topic:

CHICAGO (STNG) ― Tom Dalof -- who planned to become a Chicago firefighter -- rescued a woman from two attackers early Saturday in Rogers Park.

Minutes later, he was killed by a hit-and-run driver.

One longtime pal is certain the two men in the car were the same ones who attacked the woman. The friend, who asked not to be identified, was with Dalof when he was struck.

"It was murder. I saw the car blow through a stop sign and accelerate deliberately and even steer toward our direction to purposely hit us. I yelled, 'Tom, get out of the way!' I looked back and my friend was in the air, tumbling over the hood of the car."

Early Sunday, Boubacar Bah, 24, a native of Africa and currently of the 1400 block of West Farwell Avenue, was charged in the hit-and-run, according to Chicago Police. Bah was charged with reckless homicide and leaving the scene of an accident. Both charges are felonies.

Once again it is so nice that Daley invites all these aliens here to kill. The man killed was from all accounts a great guy and want-to-be Fireman for Chicago.

Maybe one day when the victim or victims are all Daley family members, he'll rethink his invite to all these aliens and illegal aliens.

I'm pretty excited about the new directive that basically says no more drinking. It's about time we took a bold step against drinking. I know moves like this are in the best interest of the city and all of us because Weis made Lucy Moy a Commander. What could be more legit than that? It's all legit kid.

I believe we are of legal age to drink. Is it that hard to act like it. Some people never grow up.

.................

Very simple answer. Do not answer the door. You cannot be ordered to open the door. If the WC wants to come in and talk to you he can get a warrant.

This will get really messy, very quickly,if true. I would hate to be the test case but this will end up in front of the US Supreme Court one day. When it does, the City of Chicago will lose in a big way. Off-duty conduct,in relation to alcohol useage,is a very gray and nebulous area. I doubt this is true.

It was mentioned earlier that the Superintendent is a Mormon,is this true? Is he a tea totaler? Does he consume coffee?

Does anyone know what ethnicity and religion that he is for sure? Hasn't the FOP/PBPA or the media done any background investigation on him?

Reformed alcoholic bosses are the worst regarding alcohol incidents. They tend to be emotional rollercoaster that are bound way too tightly.

Just like during Prohibition and the Temperance Movement nobody drank,LMAO...

Please, the entire culture of policing revolves around drinking in Chicago,Boston,NYC,Philly,St Louis, etc.

It would be futile to attempt to force a federal culture upon the CPD,it will cause a REVOLT in the ranks.

This is what happens when the "citizens" of Chicago learn that the police are too afraid of their own department to aggressively do their jobs.

They smell blood in the water and have no more fear of us.

Get ready for a hot summer Mayor Daley, Aldermen, Reverends, etc.

Don't say we didn't warn you!

3 killed in separate shootings in Chicago

Tribune staff report
10:07 PM CDT, March 16, 2008

Three people were killed Sunday in separate shootings, Chicago police said.

Lionel Bolden, 36, was shot in the head and shoulder at about 1:30 p.m. at his apartment in the 6400 block of South Aberdeen Street, Officer John Mirabelli said.

Bolden was quarreling with someone who apparently shot him and fled, Mirabelli said.

Police have no one in custody.

Jameel Meeks, 26, was found with a gunshot wound in his head at his home in the 200 block of West 112th Street.

He was pronounced dead at the scene at about 8:40 a.m., the Cook County medical examiner's office said.

It is being investigated as a homicide, Mirabelli said.

David Harris, 23, was found with a gunshot wound in his head shortly after 9 a.m. in the 5700 block of South Sangamon Street. Harris' death also is being investigated as a homicide, Mirabelli said

Around the city the police are afraid to be the police, not out of being cowards but out of knowing the city and media will not back us up. Now with cameras, nothing will be done, no stops, no more police. I bet in two years over 1,000 murders a year in this city, even with medical miracles and murders being reduced to AGG Batts. Back the police or no Olympics Daley. Morale is so low it sucks. Not backing us up, being sued for nonsence, media attacks, CR #s, cameras in cars will make this city Detriot soon.

And after he/she "assesses" the situation....then what?

So long as you aren't breaking any laws, who gives a shit if you have a few drinks and are having a good time?

The next G.O. will state you can only have a drink at home with the lights off under your covers.

Instead of coming up with asinine G.O.'s, why don't we address the root cause of alcohol abuse on this job?

That would make too much sense.

I donated hair last year, found this out, and donated to Beautiful Lengths instead, they GIVE AWAY their wigs!
