Can't be true! I heard Jody on 780 am today and he said that homicides and shootings are down from last year.
This still isn't shit,just 12 years ago we were cranking above 900+ homicides a year.
These young kids think a couple of weekend homicides,citywide is crazy,I recall 011 having 7 homicides in one night on 1st Watch.
The more crime spikes and the more homicides that occur the more the politicians,bosses and citizens will respect and need us.

im sure it was madness all over the city today, but i must say... in my past 11 years on the job i cant recall a busier day. combined on zone 6(007 and 008) there were at least 12 people shot. as i was leaving, 008 just had another person shot at 54/kedzie and 007 had another one at 64 and seeley.. wtf... burn
All i know is the Slum Times only cares about the Homicide numbers to compare to last year.

This gives a closer picture as to how much gang violence is up.

Those thugs would never have shot in front of a church if they knew there was a law against it. They respect and fear the law. They would have thought twice about shooting and waited to pull the trigger until over 1,000 feet from any of those places. Yeah, that's right. We have a long way to go for this to be a crazy year. In 1991 there were 99 murders in 007 alone. That's no exaggeration, look it up. Back then in the late 80's and early/mid 90's we had 750-900 murders citywide every year. Now a days we have 390-440 citywide.

Last night in Chicago at least 20 people were injured by gun fire. Three or more people were shot to death. All of this violence is happening in the City of Chicago because none of the politicians, preachers, and other big wigs (such as the Joyce Foundation) have the wisdom to acknowledge the obvious truth: There is a moral, human crisis in the Black ghetto. Most of the shooters are young and Black and poor and are members (or wannabees) of gangs. Most of the victims are young and Black and poor and are members (or wannabees) of gangs. Many of the shooters and victims have recent convictions for violent offenses. A whole bunch of them are school dropouts or are only marginal, tardy and absentee students. This sorry human mess has nothing to do with guns, knives, or bats. Unfortunately, the violence will continue unabated because the preachers, the politicians, and other big wigs (including the Joyce Foundation) wrongly believe legislation will solve a social problem.

I don't remember Walter Jacobson or Bill Curtis reporting on 19 year old drop outs who were gunned down after dealing drugs for 10 years.

The TV news and papers are trying to create a National story about "student" murders. That's this year's story.
They'll try to make every last one of these murders look like Joe was on his way to school in his knickers and backpack and was gunned down just before he learned what a triangle was. Of course, he'll be 18 and absent from school for the last 4 years and shot at 3 AM, but there will be no mention of that.
This is an effort by Fran Spielman, Frank Main, and every TV anchor to push themselves onto a national stage before their employer folds or they get fired.

The homicide rate was about 1000 a year in the late 80's. In the early 90's the homicide rate started dropping because the citizens demanded relief from this onslaught. Reagon (Republican) was in the White House and mandatory sentences were imposed upon the federal judges. The discretionary power was removed from the judges. Hense, a drop in violent crimes. Maybe the politicians, should once again demand mandatory, tougher sentences.
Right now there is not one judge on the bench in cook county who got there without the direct approval of Richie Daley. If the judges are not serving the public, the blame can be layed right at the feet of our mayor, who put these mushes on the bench.
Will you vote for him again? If so, the blame also lies at your feet!
